Value of Denver RB (esp McGahee) w/ Tebow? (1 Viewer)

I liked the other thread about the value of Denver WRs with Tebow starting. Wondering now about the RBs.

McGahee got 16 carries for 125, his third 100 yard day in the last four weeks. He got no TDs, but did stretch it in for an important (at the time) 2 point conversion. Tebow is a clear goal line option for Denver now.

Does Moreno now go from rosterable to a threat to McGahee, with his zero RB carries yesterday, but he did catch 3 passes for 40 yards, including a 28 yard screen pass that he took in for a TD.

What do you think? Is McGahee a sell hi, a buy, or stay away from Denver until things shake out after the week 6 bye?

With Tebow getting redzone carries it will take a hit unless McGahee breaks off long runs. Think Cam Newton at Carolina.

McGahee has one rushing TD in 5 games, so it's not like he's going to see a sudden drop in production in that category. I have him as my RB3 and have been thrilled with the production. I think the threat of Tebow running will continue to open up lanes, and honestly, I think Tebow will help move the offense better than Orton, so redzone opportunities for the team in general should go up. Yes, I'm sure Tebow will do his share of damage from inside the 5, but I think on the whole it won't hurt McGahee too much.

 John Fox is still HC, so I don't see a change in relative value between McGahee & Moreno--seems clear to me Fox doesn't think Moreno can be a feature back. As far as Tebow's impact on McGahee, I think it might actually help overall. Running QBs make the defense account for them, creating creases for the RB. But yeah, Tebow will likely be a ball hog near the GL

I definitely agree that Tebow will help the offense more than Orton. That just tells you how bad Orton has been. I think Orton lacks motivation unless the team he is playing on is winning. But that's the wrong attitude. While I don't blame him for giving up, he's still a professional athlete.

Bump.

There's been lots of talk about DWill's declining value while splitting time with Stewart, and Cam getting the rushing TDs.

McGahee's situation is similar in that he could lose goal-line TDs to Tebow. Are McGahee owners still confident he'll put up comparable numbers, or are you looking to sell high, thinking his production could slip?

McGahee has 1 rushing TD this year. Most of his value has been in yardage.

Exactly. I won't feel bad about "losing" something he hasn't even been getting.

I am pretty high on McGahee....he has produced well in every situation he has been in. Not spectacular but steady, and a consummate pro. The key with Tebow will be whether or not he will; be able to sustain drives. If he can, look out. More opportunities equals more yards and more tds, not less.

Im still high on him for the reasons others have mentioned: His numbers werent reliant on TDs, Tebow should help the offense overall and get Willis more opportunities, and also his YPC has been good this, especially the last 2 games, and having Tebow in there should only make it easier for him to find lanes.

I wouldnt compare DWill to McGahee at all. Dwill is in a 50/50 split and is topping out at 10 carries basically. McGahee is pretty much a lock for 15-20 carries.

That said, I had offered up McGahee/Ingram/Fred Davis for SJax/Gronk/Little. He didnt want to do it last week, I put it on hold this week because Gronk is on a bye. Barring anything huge happening this week, I told him we can revisit it next week and it will probably still be on the table.
