VBD Strategy...trust the dominator? (1 Viewer)

I've been running some mock drafts through the draft dominator, my pick being the 2nd pick in the draft and each time I get to the 2nd and 3rd rounds I'm stuck on what to do. VBD says to take a guy such as R. Droughns in the 2nd and R. Moss in the 3rd. My initial thoughts are to draft one of the top 7 wr's and then to draft Gates in the 3rd.

For someone earlier in the 2nd, Gates seems to get highlighted as great value, but not on my selections. Is the 3rd round in a 12 team league much too early for me to take Gates...or is this a real good value spot. Then of course i'm hoping to get a RB in the 4th...any thoughts?

I took Gates at 3.10 in a 12 team PPR league. But DD was also showing him as the best value at that pick.

Gates shows up as the best value pick in PPR leagues in about the mid to late 2nd round.

I think Gates is underrated, which is hard to do for him.

I think I'd take him over droghns or moss

What draft slot, who was that slots first round pick, and did Gates show up #1 on any other draft slots? This does not sound like a PPR league, correct?

This is not a points per reception league...my pick is the 2nd, 23rd and 26th. The person that it showed Gates as having the best value was the 19th pick, which that person took S. Jackson with the 6th pick. He was the only person to have Gates show up as the best value. I want to take Gates, but not sure if i'm better off taking a questionnable RB at 23/26 or a questionnable RB at 47.

I didn't know DD based VBD on this...thought it was best value pick by pick based on the scoring system/others at that position not based on who else was on your team. Why would having steven jackson as opposed to any other RB make Gates score less or more points???

It sure does. I noticed this as we were going through our draft. The highlighted player would jump around (not a lot) based on who was on the clock.

It depends on how you project the next two rounds going in terms of positional runs. Something that a piece of software can't tell you.

i'm not sure if you can do this with the DD, but i have a dynamic formula that mocks out the draft based on position (via adp) and tells me the dropoff in between picks.with that said, you are doing yourself a disservice by being a slave to what a computer tells you to pick.based on your draft slot you should know going into the draft approximately what players will fall to you and how you can develop your team throughout the draft.by the time it gets to your pick each round you shouldn't need a computer to spit out a selection for you, as it cannot grasp overall draft strategy and what you want to do with your draft n+4 selections from now.the inherent flaw with the DD is that it sacrifices overall value for your team at the expense of the individual in each round.
