Las Vegas is now the largest U.S. city to be powered entirely by renewable energy. The second largest city, Burlington, Vermont, achieved this status in 2014.
If you have ever flown into Indianapolis, you may have noticed a solar farm adjacent to the airport. I've also seen where there are plans to build one on the far south side of town - much closer to where I call home.
Baby steps for this city, but steps in the right direction.
Stupid questions but the article says Hoover Dam will begin providing power to the city in 2017.....Where's that electricity been going? Also, how did Vegas power itself prior?
Makes sense...Renewables need to be fed into the grid at all times, so a 24 hour city would need it.
