Vegas (2 Viewers)

Rock of ages was outstanding, great show for any fans of buttock. Dinner at Tao afterwards was amazing scenery and food. Best part of dinner at Tao is you go right in the club, no lines. Won a few hundred on the craps tables onu way out the for today. I love the Venetian.
Saw the same show, ate dinner at Tao, and hit the club after. Same night as you (headed home now). RoA was great fun, so was the Bourbon Room to hang out in for a lower key scene on Saturday. The sushi at Tao was money. The club was great although there was zero chance of us getting on the dance floor. Friends and I had a table, I like to dance at a club, not sit at a table to look cool. Completely ridiculously packed.

Big fan of Venetian. Women at all ends of the spectrum just looking to be picked up on the casino floor. I wandered around the place last night for a good 5 hours, gambling a bit, striking up conversations, but mainly just staring at the debaucheress freak show on the floor at that place.

Highly recommended

Vegas tip, the best table in the entire city is on the second floor of the Chandelier bar at the Cosmo, get the table directly facing the stairs to the third floor. My buddy and our wives spent a good 3 hours there checking out the never ending stream of girls in short skirts coming and going. We started placing bets on the color and or existance of underwear.

Or you could go to the Rhino and remove all doubt. :D

What doubt? Almost every bet had a clear outcome. That's why it is such a great seat. I get what you are saying, but I don't think either of our wives would have wanted to go to Rhino and it would have been much more expensive. Plus there is some kind of voyeuristic aspect to is enjoyable.

:bye: Were you guys hitting on a group of 8 at the table next to you at Tao?

any must eat spots downtown?
Only if you're looking for a late night breakfast. In that case the diner in the El Cortez is great cheap food. I had breakfast with a pimp there once.
The above is correct, but there are a few more options. If you have significant others with you, Hugo's Cellar at Four Queens and Second Street Grill at the Fremont will not disappoint. For your guys trip, I might also recommend the Triple 7 Brewpub in Main Street Station and Pop-up Pizza at the Plaza (convenient to the sportsbook).

I just don't get the downtown vegas thing. I guess if I want that vibe i'd just go to Tunica. :( I go to vegas for the strip vibe.

You go to the strip for the strip and downtown for downtown. Different places and experiences. I enjoy both for what they have to offer and I'd venture to say you aren't doing downtown right if you think you could get it anywhere else but Vegas. That said, I enjoy hanging with riff raff on occasion.

 to both of you.

We'll be staying at the plaza..so i'm sure we'll hit up pop up pizza for sure

We were right next to a LOUD ### bachelor party in the restaraunt. There were 12 of us at a circular table. We were younger (late 20s) hitting on 4 - 40 year olds that were upstairs eating and came down to give us their numbers. If you were at dinner the same time, you couldn't miss the loud as bachelor party with their stupid yelling and chants all night.

Making a 2nd solo trip in October, staying at NYNY. I love Mexican food, anyone ever eat at Gonzalez Y Gonzalez?

Heading to a bachelor party for my brother next weekend. A few questions...

1) Any recommendations for dinner on the main night where everyone will be in town? We'll be staying at the Palazzo and there are 8 of us.

2) We were going to get a Cabana at Tao Beach. One guy is saying the Cabanas are far from the pool and we should get two daybeds instead? Any opinions on this?

3) I've heard Tao Beach kind of sucks compared to other pool parties. We were mainly doing that one because we're staying at the Palazzo. Would we have any problems attending the Wynn's pool party even though we're not staying there?

4) We'll be hitting the Rhino. What's the best play on this? If we get a limo that includes admission? My memory of all this from my bachelor party is a bit....fuzzy.

Also

Michael Jackson Cirque show...

worth every penny for the ticket price. Greatest thing I've ever seen. Ever.
I am going with a bunch of dudes this weekend but I really really want to see this.

I might go by myself. :bag:
I went with 2 of my closest buddies. Still worth it
How much was it?
we sat in the cheap seats and they were still 110 a pop.

1) Tons of options. That's like asking "whats the best flavor of ice cream" though... narrow it down. Steakhouse?

2) Tao Beach is pretty small so nothing is FAR from the pool, but yeah...generally speaking Cabanas are not as "in the middle of the action" as Daybeds are. IMO if your group is flush with cash and is planning on getting a lot of bottles and luring ladies to hte cabana with said booze, then the cabana is a good idea. If you're NOT planning on working the ladies, or you figure you'll be in the pool partying it up most of the time then daybeds are probably the better play. Who is your host that you're talking to? What min are you being quoted? You're planning on saturday right?

3) Tao is okay and every pool party is going to be pretty good on saturday, but it's not the top place. Personally I'd suggest Encore Beach Club, Daylight (MB) or Marquee Day Club (Cosmo). If you're budgeting for daybed(s) or cabanas then it really doesn't matter if you're staying there. We went to Daylight on Sat with a prime daybed ($1500min) a month ago and it was amazing. They sold out that day and the crowd was insane. 1000x better than the scene at ditch fridays at palms the day before (Where we got $500min daybed poolside).

Honestly it very much depends on your budget. How many guys? What kinda vibe you looking for? Any preference on DJs or does the music not really matter for you guys? I've got quite a few host contacts out there and if I don't know one I know the right guy to talk to to get the best setup.

4) Yes, Do NOT take a cab to rhino. call them 2 hours or so before you wnat to be picked up and schedule a limo pickup for your group. It will be free ride (tip him $20-40) and no cover or lines to get in.

Every Vegas trip I make I end up downtown one night and it almost always ends with a late night burger or pizza at the triple 7 brewpub. Its not the bees knees or anything, just a place to get some food in with some good beer.

I highly recommend Cut which is Wolfgang Puck's Steakhouse between the Venetian and the Palazzo. Great Steaks, sides, pretzel bread is amazing, and great classic rock music playing. Waiters are very knowledgable and do a great job. Not cheap, but well worth the price.

If you are really hungry, try Hash House A Go-Go at the Plaza. The portions are ginormous. The burgers are all 1 pound size if that gives you a good idea of how much they give you.

If you are looking for a pool to go to, you may want to check out Sapphire Pool. The dancers who work the club are usually at the pool during the day. I haven't been myself, but I've seen pics in Las Vegas Weekly. Might be worth checking out.

Was waiting to hear back from the Tao guy on prices. He (Chris Traer) quoted us the following on minimum spends.

Cabana - $2k

Corner couch - $1k

Daybed - $500

This is for Friday as we'll be checking out opening weekend of CFB in the sportsbook on Saturday, so that probably saved us a few bucks.

It looks like only 6 guys will be there by then, with one more arriving mid-day, so we'll probably do a daybed. We're all young professions, 26-30 with good jobs except one youngin (21) who doesn't have as much cash. Probably 60% of the group is married so luring ladies back won't be a priority for many of us. Who the DJ is doesn't really matter to us, this will be the first Vegas pool party for all of us so I'm sure just being there will be cool.

As far as dinner goes, a steakhouse would be great. I was initially thinking Fogo De Chao and am still considering it, but the bachelor was my best man and he did a brazilian steakhouse for my bachelor party (Samba) so I'm thinking doing the same thing might not be ideal.

Chris is definitely the guy to talk to at tao so you're in good hands. On Friday no pools are as crazy as they are sat, but I'm sure Tao will be good. Smaller pools pack in quicker.

With that group daybed is the play for sure. 500 is very reasonable. Note that is basically a one bottle min. It's usually a little more cost effective to order drinks/beers vs a bottle. Just something to consider. 6 guys will hit that 500 no prob though.

Know that you will have 30pct on top of that amount for gratuity/tax/etc (on check at close out). plus you will want to tip Chris for taking care of you. I'd talk with him about a fair tip and daybed location expectations... Not all locations are created equal. I'd expect to tip 75-100 (when you meet him at the rope) as a fair sum. That will put you at 750ish all in.

I'd suggest an uptempo modern steakhouse given your age group. STK at Cosmo is a fun vibe with DJ, and young/hot clientele. If you're looking for the traditional white linen steakhouse it's not the play though.

Icon, you're an all-star.

Went ahead and reserved a daybed with Chris. STK looks good too. Gonna talk to the peeps in the group that don't make FFA money and see if they can swing STK, otherwise we'll do Fogo or Texas De Brazil as it basically has a set cost (not counting the vino).

For those that are familiar with all how would you rate Caesar's v. Aria v. Venetian overall on quality of room, facility, amenities, location?

Going with my wife for an extended weekend for fun and relaxation away from the kids. These two seem to be the best fits in the price range.

Have stayed at Aria twice and going back. Absolutely love the place.

Will be in vegas this weekend as well and we will likely do a Brazilian place as well. I love the two you mentioned of course and they are likely a small step above, but there are 2 on the Strip. We are planning to go to Pampas..it is behind Planet Hollywood and supposedly there is always some Brazilian clad girl handing out 2 for 1 deals.

I realize that makes it sound bad or cheap, but its simply a suggestion..advantages being that it is on the Strip whereas Fogo and TdB require a short cab ride, and you might save some coin if that matters.

Have fun! Maybe I will see you this weekend. I will be the 30-something white guy.

Pampas is MONEY and the best deal on the strip for Brazilian. Get the fish add on.

Everything was top notch. The leg of lamb and sirloin were unbelievable.

Right across from Pampas is a Sports Bar that's usually empty that has Ping Pong tables, Darts, Pool, and a variety of other games. We spent 4 hours in there and it was empty, drinking and playing ping pong. It's great. I forget the name but it's literally right across the hall from Pampas

Yeah STK isn't cheap. TBH we ate there and Craftsteak at MGM last month and Craftsteak was a slightly better flavor, while STK had a slightly better cut of beef (went bone in Ribeye at both locations on back to back evenings). My tab was $125-150 at each including a few drinks, sides, etc.

The clientele at STK was off the charts, as with the rest of Cosmo as a whole. Main area of MGM was no slouch either, given that they've got Haakassan there now...wave after wave of 'barely there" mini dresses and stiletto heels had my buddies breaking their necks.

The supposed BIG Friday pool parties are WET (mgm) and DITCH (Palms).

WET: Hot 100 bikini contest. Supposedly solid but they are insane with thier bed/cabana pricing. We were looking at 1k min for a daybed and $2500 for a cabana. Nuts.

DITCH: Ended up here and got a daybed for $500. Layout is cool but damn the clientele sucked. Very "Dark" crowd that was pretty ghetto. I won't be back.

We hit Daylight at MB on Saturday and had a fantastic time. Brian Sweet is the guy to talk to there and at LIght (The nightclub) as he is the head host / podium guy at both. Let me know if that's in the cards for you guys and I can put you in touch with him. He took great care of us at Daylight and me (solo) at Light.

The only pool parties you need to ever decide between are Marquee and Encore Beach Club. Those are the cream...everyone else is paying catch up.

You might consider the Cosmopolitan!

I like Caesars because it's a good all-around property. I could probably go to Vegas for a weekend and never have to leave Caesars. It has high-end and low end restaurants. Forum shops are good for a stroll to break up the gambling..and you can usually see **** Butkus or Pete Rose in the memorabilia shop.

Aria smells and looks the best of the three. Plus I love their sportsbook the most. Casino just doesn't do it for me to hang out in though.

Venetian is top notch. Love their rooms, but I just get a little bored hanging out there and always end up wandering to other properties.

FYI Pampas has a 50% off Groupon going right now if you don't want to chance running into 2-for-1 girl.

I'm a Venetian guy, and my wife loves the place so we pretty much always try to stay there. The nice thing is that Caesar's and Mirage are right across the street, so you can hit both of those too without any real effort. But if we are taking a vote, I vote Venetian.

It may be worth having his info. The groom asked not to plan a nightclub as that's not really his thing, but I have a feeling we may end up at one after we all get some drinks in us.
