Looking for restaurant recommendations. It is a business dinner. I am not paying. It should be nice, but not ridiculous. Nearby Caesars Palace is a plus.

Mesa Grill, Delmonicos, and Red Square were all suggested by one of the people going.

Mesa Grill was the worst dining experience I have ever had. Terrible service. Terrible manager and crappy food.

We had looked at the menu online in advance. I am a vegetarian so my options are a bit limited. They had two really good sounding vegetarian dishes on the menu online. So we decided to join the group(12 of us total). When we got there the menu was completely different. No vegetarian options. No big deal, not the first time this has happened to me. So I show the waiter on my phone the online menu and ask if they could make me something like it. Without hesitation the waiter says no. I thought to myself wow that was pretty quick. I noticed that one of the sides for another dish had a quesadilla with chicken and black beans. I asked if I could get the quesadilla without the chicken. In a huff he said he would ask the kitchen. Came back and told me that they couldnt do that because they were premade with everything on it.

I asked to see the manager. Manager came over and I said look I just want some food. I don't care if I get sides or whatever. Your menu online is different than what you have here and to be honest if I would have known this was the menu we would have passed. The manager said they don't have anyhting to do with the website so that isnt her fault, but she would see what she could make me. She eventually brought me a kids menu and asked if I wanted to just order something off of it. She was being a snot about it so I know she was implying I was being a picky child. I ordered the kids quesadilla which according to the menu was just a plain quesadilla. Of course they brought me a chicken and black bean quesadilla which leads me to believe lots of their food is in fact preprepared which is why I say it sucks. I eventually just decided to just return the food and skip eating there.

Delmonico's has the best Ceaser salad I've ever had. They make it table side. Steak is pretty good too.

Similar to kutta, the Venetian is where my wife and I always stay (what is it with women and the venetian?) We go for every March madness. It was better when they used to let anyone sit in the sportsbook. You could wake up, get in line for coffee and breakfast at bouchon bakery, then head to the sportsbook and watch games all day. Pretty perfect setup. Now, we have to taxi to the Hilton if we want to sit.

The steak sucks too, I would stay clear of Mesa Grill. It's really not good food and really terrible service. I was just there this past January, worst service I remember getting at any restaurant in Vegas, let alone one that is at the higher scale of price as this one.

One note on poker tournaments in Vegas. Such a rip-off. I think we played in a $40 tourament, and out that $40 only $24 of it got paid out to the people who placed. $8 tournament fee and $8 some other BS fee or close to that.

$16 for the space, dealing, etc? Seems like a deal for you.

Nobody gets rich on $40 tourneys.

I look at a $40 tourney in Vegas as more of entertainment than a profit center.

Last minute trip for birthday (wife is there too though...), leaving Sunday night for a few days, friends out there at the same time. Deals on tickets for everything, springtime. Monday going to the Grand Canyon and the Beatles at night. Tuesday the show at Aria and the High Roller at 10pm, Wed going to Blue Man group and turn 39 at Midnight. Coming home Thurs, I'll report on the high roller, unlike my last trip which was basically a poker tournament everyday, this is a quick trip with wife and friends...

Dunno. Browsing at the moment. Can't believe how many big, beautiful condos are available at a great price. They really built too much, too fast. Good for me though.

Sick thing is they're still building in some spots, but mostly in Centennial (NW Vegas). I think the gf and I are going to try and find a place somewhere in Henderson come September. Need a bigger place for the dogs to run around. Green Valley area would definitely be awesome.

I have. I just went to a sports bar because I landed like 35 minutes before the first pick. I can't even remember which one. Its not a gambling event so no one makes a big deal of it, but it will be on tv in the sports bars.

You'll be happy to know there was a Mesa Grill on 15th st and 5th ave in NYC that was closed down recently for doing very little business. I ate there once, not a fan.

Anybody ever been to the Downtown Cocktail Room?

Yes. Great if you can get a seat at the bar and talk to the bartenders...they'll make up something for you on the spot. It's still fun if you need to sit at a table, too. I'd go early enough for Happy Hour if you are in town on a weekday.

Idk if I'm having one meal... I was there with my wife once and enjoyed the meal in Paris, good Italian restaurant in Bellagio, and really enjoyed a meal in the stratosphere.

Just going Friday and red eye back Sunday. Hopefully I can stay awake the whole time

That was without tip - small bloody too . And a pretty pedestrian Burrito - you could get a better one in Austin or here in Denver for about $5-10. Waitress was fully clothed.

We had a cabana the next day and the bill was pretty out there - I don't remember the exact drop - but I think it came to $300 a piece - I got a pretty crappy "organic" turkey club that could have come from Applebees - with chips. I think it was $22

I will say the tapas place inside Aria was good food - although again $20-25 for a little plate and it starts to add up.

You know it's pretty bad when the burger and beer you get at the airport in the concourse cost less than the resort you are at

I'm old and just miss some of that old Vegas

By the way - best deal may have been Brooklyn Bowl we saw Jane's Addiction there- highly recommend looking for a show there if you can - big big draft PBR $11

I'm not going to pursue high-dollar nightlife any time soon, but I will defend the decision to offer it. Vegas has to be all things to all people to make the nut. If you wanna drop three racks at the pool, at the club, or in the casino, it's all good to them.

I'll be at the El Cortez, spreading $5-$25 at the blackjack tables and trying to evade detection as an advantage player at minuscule stakes. Different strokes.

I'm going with a group of 15 dudes for a bachelor party. All late 20's/early 30's... If I drop 2-3 racks partying in a weekend, I'm good with that. I don't cheat on my wife, I'm just not that guy, but I will take home some excellent memories and have some awesome thoughts going through my head when I'm pounding the misses upon return. Partying and letting lose with a group of friends I seldomly see anymore is how I want to spend my 60 hours out there.

I have no issue spending the money partying, HOWEVER if I came home without the partying and just lost a couple of racks from gambling, I would be VERY unhappy!

The house usually wins one way or another, I'll enjoy myself letting them win.

Oh yeah man.... offer away. $10K bottles of Champagne and 25K for a pop up tent next to a pool. For all i care bring in some who-ha so you can skip the trip to the joint later on. Don't mean I'm spending that type of coin on a pool party but if someone else wants it go right ahead.

I can go to vegas with the lady and for $2.5K I get my flight, hotel, show tickets, lunch and diner and more then enough left over to gamble with. From time to time I come back a winner or win enough to cover what I spent. If I'm going to vegas and doing $500 bottles (and thus spending a hell of a lot more then $2.5K) and the like I'd just assume get a suite on a cruise or go to Europe or something.

Least surprising debate ever going down...

Older guys who will feel woefully out of place at pool/club would prefer grinding out epic BJ sessions and pounding free drinks till their eyeballs float.

Younger guys who can still run game and drink their weight would rather allocate that money for a wild day/nigh with scantily clad drunk coeds.

No harm in either and there is likely some crossover among the two. I'll say this: I have no problem droppjn $200 on a damn fine meal that might last 2 hours... Others don't bat an eye to spend $250 for 3 hours on the course.

In that same vein it's not that far fetched to imagine guys dropping 300--400 for 4-6 hours of getting blasted drunk listening to big name DJs while being waited on hand and foot by a 9 or 10 chick and surrounded by smoking hot half naked drunk coeds that are all likely looking to go home with someone as badly as you do.

Thanks for the suggestions. We make a regular stop at Trevi for drinks when we go but I don't know if we ever ate there. B&B looks good if we're around the Venetian. We always have a meal at Canonita at the Venetian. Great Mexican food.
