Vernon Davis (1 Viewer)

I know his value cannot get any lower, but is there value in keeping him right now?

Is he the next Gates or is he just another TE?

I love the talent but it will be hard to do anything with Alex Smith throwing (err trying to throw) the ball

Winslow was a much better option at the same point in the draft, he had 80+ receptions last year. In most of the drafts I was in this year Davis went before Winslow and several others that are putting up very nice numbers as 6th-8th round PPR TE's.

The Niners have steadfastly refused to let Smith throw the ball around. Until they loosen up the reins I wouldn't want anyone involved in their passing game.

Its hard for him to do anything with SMith looking so abysmal and as if he took a step back. Its not Davis' fault. He cant throw the ball to himself.

Selling low isn't a good thing. Hang on to him, maybe Smith will get better and so should Davis. He's got too much talent to sell low. Now is the time to get him cheap if you can.

It would of course depend what you could get for him, but I don't see why you'd try to move him when his value is probably at its lowest.

The 49ers have called two incredibly conservative offensive games. Plus, Gore has also yet to really get on track--not sure if this is rust or good defensive play by their opponents (perhaps some of both), which is important for play action to open up lanes for the passing game.

Instead of trading Vernon, I'd be looking to acquire a backup plan at TE. If that works out, you could look to move him after he has a good game or two if you're hell-bent on moving him.

The Davis owner in my league tried shopping him hard last week in our 10 team 10 player keeper. He wanted a Top 10 TE in return. There were no takers. He had one lowball offer of McMichael and a 2008 2nd which he refused, and that was about it.

I would hold for now........

Who's gonna buy him at this point? What has he ever done? Yes, he was a high draft pick and has tremendous physical talent but he's got one of the leagues worst qb's throwing him the ball.

I'm buying if the price is right.

I drafted him as my #5-6 wr in a non-Te league. I am dropping him tomorrow. It doesn't matter how much talent he has if Smith can't

A) throw him the ball

or

B) isn't allowed to throw him the ball due to the coaches lack of confidence in him

The Niners might be 2-0 but I think they are the least impressive of the 2-0 teams. Their offense is not pretty. I am dropping Davis for Northcutt or Engram.

I agree. I can't afford with the short bench we have two TE's on it and this guy has BIG BUST written all over him. I really don't know what to do.

Apparently Davis is spouting off about his misuse. Attention: Vernon Davis. Shut your cakehole and block your man. This is Frank Gore's team.

I'm a history buff, and I learn my lessons. Whenever Norv Turner leaves a team the next year that team struggles in some way offensively. I projectied Davis as being a slow starter. I stand by that. I think he is a great buy low candidate. I'm going to try to grab him in the 6th week on his bye (after he plays Pitt and Baltimore) when I think his value is going to be at it's lowest. His schedule from week 7 to 12 looks like money to me. I think by week
