LOL....Davis had 1 good game in his last 5....start him when he hits a streak of good games not 1Wait... What?Davis has a great game against a great defense with K and he goes up against the leagues worst defense and you say "I could of told you not t start him?"Do we have a steaming pile of bs icon I can post?I was very confident starting Davis. If they would play theSaints again this week i'd start him again. Love the after game I told you so...
In his defense, he said that he would have told him to bench Vernon over Alfred Morris, BJGE, and Cecil Shorts. All three of those guys have been playing pretty well, so it's not a stretch.Wait... It's so sad that he's used this poorly in the receiving game (although I'll add that from a football perspective, he's having a FANTASTIC season, and his blocking has been excellent).Wait... I can understand that. I'm just a little chippy because he has really screwed me the past 5-6 weeks. I watched that coming out party for Kaepernick, and was like ALRIGHT, Pettigrew on the bench you go for the rest of the year... and yesterday was like... WTH man... really? Hopw can you have that kind of weapon and not even throw to him more than twice... if that. I know he caught one ball that was brought back. I guess he really ISN'T that good of a receiving TE. I still won on the legs of Trich and Muscle Hamster, but... I would like Akers and Davis to get with the program... AKERS, missing a friggen 33 yard FG really??!?In his defense, he said that he would have told him to bench Vernon over Alfred Morris, BJGE, and Cecil Shorts. No, he is definitely a good receiving tight end. The problem is that the SF staff sees him as more useful in the blocking game, where he is one of the best in the league.I can understand that. I believe he missed the 50 yarder and the 33 was blocked. But, yeah, he has left some points on the shop floor that have hurt.I can understand that. In my redraft league this year, I watched as Fred Davis, Greg Olsen, Brandon Pettigrew, etc. went off the board before Vernon (in fairness, I loved Olsen coming into this year, so I would have taken him over Vernon myself), and I was thrilled to grab him in the seventh round.Come to find out, the people who drafted those three guys have all been burned by Vernon in the past and passed him up for the same reason.what a bummer, thought Davis was going to get rolling this week after a good week 11. Slotted him into flex ahead of several other options that produced and will probably lose this week in a critical game. I agree that SF coaches see him as having more value as a blocker, I just thought based on last year (both in how he got hot at the end of the year and how he abused NO in the playoffs (i know, different QB))and how effective Kaper to Davis was last week- that VD would continue to roll. Oh well, I wont make the same mistake next year, thats for sure!!
What a flip flopper. Said he was "liberated" and finely free after Kaepernick's play against the Bears.Vernon Davis - TE - 49ersFollowing Sunday's catch-less Week 12 game, Vernon Davis told reporters that he believes Alex Smith should be the 49ers' starting quarterback.Although Jim Harbaugh made the correct on-field decision to bench Smith for Colin Kaepernick, one of the risks he ran was creating a locker-room divide. "It's difficult, but I think Alex is still the man," said Davis. "In my heart I strongly believe that and you'll know next week. ... I'm sure Alex is still our guy." Kaepernick is still expected to start in Week 13 at St. Louis.Source: NFL.com
CSN Bay Area suggests Vernon Davis "might" reemerge as the 49ers' leading receiver in 2013.
In all likelihood, it'll be either Davis or Anquan Boldin. And Davis is the better bet with younger legs and a far less limited skill set. Boldin is essentially a box-out receiver. Davis was San Francisco's leading pass catcher in both 2009 and 2010, finishing as the No. 1 and 3 overall fantasy tight end in those seasons, respectively. He caught 78 balls and scored 13 TDs in 2009.
