Verron Haynes likely out for year (1 Viewer)

When Haynes went down in the Raiders game, Parker was in while the Steelers were passing trying to catch up. He later caught a TD pass. This would certainly have to up the value of Parker quite a bit wouldn't it? I don't see anyone else on the Steelers roster that can assume to role of third down back and I'm not sure there's anyone for the Steelers to bring in to take over that role. Thoughts?

They'll spread Haynes' snaps between Parker, Davenport and Duce Staley will be brought out of the mothballs.
More Parker, More Krieder. Davenport just isn't that good to be a 3rd down back, Duce might be a sneaky play at that position.EDIT: Look for Kuhn to get promoted to the active squad.

I have a feeling that Davenport is going to be in the Cowher's doghouse for awhile, and as a result I expect to see Staley get some time from here on out if Haynes is on the shelf.

Until Cowher realizes that Duce is too slow to be effective anymore. Which should take about 5 carries.

The only person that should be in Cowher's doghouse is Cowher! Parker has proven that he can get the tough yards so use your best back with the game on the line. No way the Raiders stop Parker 4 times from the 1. The Steelers also tried to get cute on a third and one as well late in the 4th and threw the ball. That's just not Steeler football. They got what they deserved.

Parker got stuffed on the first play, and Davenport got hit 4 yards in the backfield on the 2nd. No RB was going to go anywhere there. If 3rd and 5 from the 5 is a running play to you, so be it, but I woud've liked to have seen a play action fake on first or second down. The offensive line was doing a good job of opening up holes very often.

:goodposting: Normally I would agree that pounding the ball four times from the 1 is a good idea but the o-line was getting pushed back pretty good. On second down (on the 2) they should have brought in 3 wide receivers to spread out the defense to give Parker a chance to find a hole or have Ben do a QB draw. As it was the LB that nailed Davenport for a 4 yard loss was in there quick enough to get the handoff from Ben.

Is Staley really an option at this point?
He's an option, just not a very good one. Staley will be in uniform this week but I wouldn't expect much from him because the Steelers o-line is banged-up and struggling and Staley appears to be washed up. A very bad combination.
