Very Early QB Rankings (FF) (1 Viewer)

I will go out on a limb and say Brooks won't even finish the year as the starter... there I said it. If I am wrong I am wrong... but the guy is a head case who melts down very easily.... not to mention makes horrible decisions... talent is not an issue... its his mental capacity. Which is extremely questionable.

Interesting comments on Aaron Brooks. maybe you two guys bashing Brooks should look up his numbers from the past when he WASNT playing with Moss, Porter and Lamont Jordan...
I looked up the numbers and studied them before I went to bed every night for the last 3 months. He still won't be a top 10 QB this year. How did Kerry Collins do last year with Moss and Porter (who's overrated) and Jordan?I've watched many Saints games in recent years and I just don't see Brooks being a top 10 guy this year.

I hope he's not your #1 QB.
Collins ranked 8th in ppg last year with Moss banged up most of the year.
:bag: Well whatever, Brooks is no Collins.
I'd be interested to hear in any statistical facet of the game how Collins has ever been better than Brooks prior to last year. I'm not a fan of either, personally, but Brooks > Collins up until last year.
I actually agree with you. Brooks has put up better numbers than Collins. There's just something about Brooks that I don't like this year. It goes beyond statistical analysis. I may be wrong and he may put up Top 10 numbers this year, but he won't be on any of my rosters.

I believe in the fantasy football theory of value relativity. There are players I probably wouldn't draft out of personal preference. And there are plenty of players I would want to draft but would not because the slot to take him is too rich for my blood. But there are also times when a player falls to the point where I will take just about anybody if the price is right.I recently drafted Brooks in a 16-team league as the 18th QB and 91st player off the board. To me, the risk at that point was minimal, as I envision Brooks being better than the 18th QB. If he's not, it won't kill me, and he certainly should not be much worse than that barring injury. maybe he falls in the 10-15 range. If so, I got a bargain.

1. Peyton Manning, IND2. Marc Bulger, STL3. Jake Plummer, DEN4. Eli Manning, NYG5. Trent Green, KC6. Jake Delhomme, CAR7. Tom Brady, NE8. Matt Hasselbeck, SEA9. Donovan McNabb, PHI10. Aaron Brooks, OAK11. Brett Favre, GB12. Michael Vick, ATL13. Drew Bledsoe, DAL14. David Carr, HOU15. Byron Leftwich, JAX16. Ben Roethlisberger, PIT17. Charlie Frye, CLE18. Kurt Warner, AZ19. Chris Simms, TB20. Daunte Culpepper, MIA21. Carson Palmer, CIN22. J.P. Losman, BUF23. Drew Brees, NO24. Philip Rivers, SD25. Alex Smith, SFThoughts/Comments???
Charlie Frye started five games on the NFL's dead last ranked scoring offense. Frye's QB rating was 71 which would rank him 28 on the list of last year's starting QBs. His #1 blue chip WR is on IR and isn't expected to be healthy to begin the season, Phil Savage the Brown's GM had hinted that if Braylon were not healthy at the start of the year he could be placed on the PUP and miss the first six games of the season. The Browns let his thousand yard WR Antonio Bryant who had the fourth highest reception yardage season in Cleveland Brown's history go and replaced him with a guy who in eight NFL seasons never scored more than 4TDs till last year on a SB team, with a Pro Bowl QB, with League Offensive MVP who set the all time scoring record, and a dominating offensive line, not to mention a Pro Bowl WR starting opposite him and a 6'7 red zone scoring threat TE in Jeremy Stevens to go the dead last scoring offense with their #1 WR not expected back healthy. Oh yes, Joe Jerevicious had missed 16 games in the two year span before last year's anomaly of 10 TDs. Kellen Winslow Jr. has only made it thru two complete games healthy in his two year NFL career having ended on IR with serious injuries the last two years. He still isn't cleared by the medical staff to practice with the team after having another sugery this January that the Browns tried to keep quite but leaked out last week. You have Charlie Frye is ranked ahead of three recent Pro Bowl QBs Drew Brees/Kurt Warner/Duante Culpepper. You have him ranked ahead of Chris Simms who is in his third year and earned his starting spot after he directed his team to the post season. Simms has two healthy and talented WRs in Joey Galloway Mark Clayton and has NFL OROY in Caddy Williams who provides him an excellent dump off check down threat to bust big plays not to mention a healthy young TE in Alex Smith. I know many Browns fans have gone off the deep end with Frye but he's has started five games and is far from a proven QB. His situation to blow up is not very good. He has not been set up for success as other young QBs in the league. I would not rank him #17 in either fantasy or NFL rankings.

I'd say that's a good call, and I think if the Raiders pass on a QB in the first round this year, it speaks volumes about what they think about Walter. If they go into the season with Brooks/Walter, I think you'd see Walter sooner rather than later.

Walter is currently third on the depth chart after Brooks and Tui. IIRC, the Raiders signed Brooks to a 2-year deal worth around $8 million. His 2007 salary is listed at $720,000, meaning that in terms of bonus money and salary Oakland would be on the hook for almost $7.3 million for Brooks this year. I highly doubt they would shell out (no pun intended) that much $$$ and not play Brooks. All bets are off, of course, for any teams that have been eliminated and are looking to audition guys over the last month of the season. But I think we see Brooks for at least 12 games.

 Makes sense, but its not a horrible cap to eat for a decent backup either. Short term.I guess I am hoping for Walter to get a chance. Plus Brooks might sling the ball around good for FF... but NFL terms he always seems to tank somewhere along the line and then smile and laugh about it later.

I believe that both Warner and Roethlisberger will be Top 10; displacing Brooks and Delhomme.

They both were Top 10 QB's this year [ppg] and there is no reason that I can see that would hinder them from repeating.

Saying Walter is third on the depth chart doesn't mean a thing. The Radiers made it very clear that they expect Brooks to compete for the job, and I'm pretty sure that Tui is out of the picture. I think there's a fine chance that Brooks starts the majority of the season.

But I think his cap number has nothing to do with it.

Shell will likely make it an open competition between Tui and Walter. Tui's not out of any picture, he's been there a while.

I love that so many people are lowering Vick's ranking this year. He was top 10 in most of my leagues and in theory he should only get better with more experience. If you can handcuff him with Schuab I think he will be great value this year.

I have never liked him until this year.
That's good for me, I usually get Vick at good value... unless your in the league where a bozo selects him in the 2nd round or something.

Tui is done. If he weren't, they wouldn't have brought in Brooks. Actually he never got started. He was over rated coming out of college and he will never be more than a less than average back up.Don't be surprised about anything. Walters wasn't drafted by this coaching regime. I don't know much about Walters but all bets are off now. If Vince Young is there, Vince Young will be drafted.

I just don't see the raiders trading up to get Lienart, he doesn't seem to fit the Raiders image. He is too clean cut, too much of a pretty boy, no controversy.

1. If the main reason why you think Leinart won't go to the Raiders is because he's a swell guy, well, that's silly. Al Davis LOVES USC guys, the only reason I'm nervous that he might try and trade up for him is because Leinart went to USC.2. Walter wasn't drafted by this coaching regime? :loco:

Guess what? He wasn't drafted by the last one either.

What about Brooks?I think there's a good chacne that Tui doesn't make it out of camp, and he's been complaining to the media. I've read nothing, absolutely nothing, that suggests that Tui is getting a shot at the job.

:goodposting: Brady was the #2 QB behind Carson Palmer in my league last year. He is actually getting better every year. I'm not sure what has changed to move him to #12. Givens leaving? Givens was a cog not the reason why Brady put up good stats.
