Vick another good game or will his groin hinder him... (1 Viewer)

I see some valid points being brought up in this pissing contest over Vick, however I think we should be more concerned with this week.Vick has been a top FF QB all season. I however don't like him for this week. Unfortunately it is either Cutler or Young for me in his place (I did not play Green last night). After listening to NFL N after the game last night, they were talking about Vick having a poor history against Carolina to begin with. Then they started comparing his situation with Fred Taylors last week. Coming back from tweaking a hammy for Fred and coming back the next week from a tweaked groin (and not in the good way) against a stout defense for Vick. I believe both of them said they don't expect Vick to make it through the game, let alone play well. Coming from to recent NFL studs, this concerns me greatly. With all this being said, I also truely believe in sticking with the horses that got you to the playoffs/championship and I am having a real difficult time benching Vick for Cutler or Young, so any updates on his status this morning would be appreciated.
This is distrubing news. Vicks carried me to our Leagues Fantasy Bowl as well, and I feel very uncomfortable benching him this week. But I cringe at the idea of starting him and him not finshing the game.

I'll Admit... I'm only in the championship game because of Vick, last week.

But a few things worry me.

First - The injury and his ability to run. If he does run I'm sure that's going to open his chances up to tweaking it. As a passer, it's not so much I don't trust Vick, but I have seen more than my fair share of dropped passes from Crumpler and the boys.

Could Falcons management possibly be putting pressure on Mora to play Schaub a little more? I still do buy Vick coming out of the game that late with a slight groin pull.. with 2 minutes left. If the Falcons get behind, is Shaub going to be put in to air it out a little more? Do they want to give Shaub a look? Has Vick worn out his welcome with Falcons management? Seems Mora is in his corner, but who knows if he will be back.

I also think they might increase Norwood's carries in the next week or so if he really is healthy.

That's just my thinking.

FYI, NFLN just teased their match up coverage of some games after this commercial break. Carolina/Atl is one of the games they are going to break down.

Vick has carried me as well (LJ and MJD are helping). Do you plan on sticking with Vick? As for Mora possibly leaving, I see that as beneficial to Vick the next two weeks. Mora believes in Vick and if he feels he is going to be let go, I'd think Mora's more apt to stick with Vick then bow to pressure to play Schaub.I think you are also contemplating playing Cutler. Doesn't the weather and Walker's status scare off playing Cutler even more then Vick's potentially tweaked groin?

Weather don't bother me in Cutler situation, because I think he has a strong enough arm to overcome it. Also, we are talking the Benglas defense here... who's QB's complete like 63% of the passes against.

NFL network was just talking about Vick and his situation and hint that he might not be able to finish the game, because they said something to the effect groin injuries don't go away in one week.

Vick playing a half of game would be a disaster... for me, playing a rookie who look like he is getting better every week, is less of a risk. Wheover I play I want them playing the entire game. I can't really count of Vick doing that, especially with his injury and play style.

Did this sound like more than media speculation? Am tempted to bench him for Garcia if there's much likelihood he doesn't see 4 qtrs.

I'm not willing to take the chance really. I can't overcome 4 points from my QB. If u have Garcia, I would go with him. Hell, if I had Garcia I would go with him over Cutler. Dallas pass defense has been shredded the last two weeks.

I watched my fair share of Falcons games this year. Vick has had more touch of his passes than in previous years.
Leave it be W1cked. For folks like SteelerMurf, the old saying "You can lead a whore to culture, but you can't make her think" applies.

But honestly, that's a good thing. Allows those of us who are actually paying attention to games and specifically tracking players and their progress, a major advantage come draft day.

As for today. The groin could flare up on him, which would obviously inhibit his scrambling. What we'll probably see from Vick in todays game is just enough running to break the 1,000 yards & then more passing than normal.

Now you've just got to go with your gut, as to which game the Falcons WR's are going to bring to the table today. ;)

It sounded like personal opinion (media/ex NFL player speculation).I am leaning more and more towards benching Vick for the first time since week 3 for a rookie in snow with his best WR hurting. ;) Anything of Fox regarding Vick?

thx, wicked. i think i' will make the change. makes me a little nervous becaus my game day lineup choices tend to be wrong more often than right..have next week to make it up at least (week 16+17 scores are combined)

score - how may rushing yards does he need?

10 more yards.Cutler is looking better and better to me. The guy's scored over 20 points the past two weeks in this league and even his first abysmal week, he scored 12 points.

i think only 9?

I'd just like him to stay in as long as possible today. My only other QB is Schaub as I had to cut Losman at QB3 to pick up Betts. Not complaining about it but it obviously put me behind the 8 ball when it came to this kind of situation. I'd rather take a less risky option but I don't have a choice here.

he needs 10 yards to reach 1000
thx! only ten -- bummer..
i try to listen to my gut and sometimes it's wrong, sometimes right, but FWIW, i can't shake the feeling that vick gets the 10+ yards, throws a TD or two and then gives way to schaub in the 3rd/4th quarter. falcons still have something to play for, but barely, and vick never struck me as a guy who'd throw it all on the line for 4 quarters no matter what. loved him as a fantasy qb, but his character seems suspect, a "me first" kinda guy...and the falcons seem barely hanging on, mora speculation/controversy, etc....and the bum groin could be easy to tweak on one run...the only positive is that they're playing the panthers who have packed it in.i seem to be talking myself into cutler...

well, you know how it goes. we sit him and he throws 3 td's to crumpler again. we play him, schaub comes in :loco: ..at least that is my luck..

i know, it's brutal ain't it? him or cutler, decision is worth $1,000...killin' me...as is my flex between ronnie brown, maroney and vernon davis (PPR league)...vick and his damn groin has thrown a wrench itno my day

The guy I am playing has Walker, so as far as I'm concerned Walker could go all day without a catch... so I guess that makes my choice to play Cutler with a possibly banged up Walker a little easier.

Put your faith in the Cincy pass defense... this game could possible be a shootout, which would be a good thing.

I tend to see this as a benefit. :loco: Vick is more likely to tweak the groin if he has to do a lot of rushing. Needing only 10 yards, he can get that the Falcons 1st offensive series & then settle back to rely on Dunn, Norwood & pass for the rest of the game.
I was just thinking the same thing, when I remembered Peppers probably won't let Vick sit in the pocket, forcing him to run.I just put in Cutler.

I just replaced Vick with Cutler. WARNING: The moves I make on Sunday morning are usually wrong.

i see what you're saying. it is just that our scoring benefits his rushing game. i am leaving him in -- officially  . i do have one more week and will definitely play garcia then if today is a bust. good luck everyone. i'm playing scheffler, so i'll be rooting for cutler, too!

You're killing me. Nice cut and paste from two posts and your addition of the WARNING is just classic.

Bad game. Didn't look like his groin was too much of a problem, he had a couple of nice runs. Carolina heavily dominated time of posession. His passing was average, as usual.

The troubling thing was Vick looking lethargic out there. His body language is terrible. 3 points is woeful offense, regardlees of time of posession. And he never seemed to be in a hurry, or play with urgency. I certainly wouldn't give him an "A" for effort in what was an important game for the Falcons.

Is anyone else from this thread still playing week 17? need some supportr on following through on my earlier promise to bench vock if he played the way he did. given his erratic play recently, this should theoretically be a good scoring week for him :goodposting:
