Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (6 Viewers)

Don't know why I didn't notice before but Uncharted 3 "Free-to-Play" is basically a multiplayer demo. Wasted 20gb downloading all this #### just to find out it's not the game. It says single player right on the icon in the PSN store. Whatever.
There's multiple parts. I have not downloaded all yet but I think one is single player? 40 GB total at 1 mbps is brutal.
Yeah, I think the full download is even more than that. It's ginormous.
Is it still free single player?

Yes looks like it. Firing up a game now.

If I could get my ps3 to stay on maybe I could get it done in 24 hrs. Sometimes it stays on. Sometimes not.

Love this game. I really like the fact that you don't wander around in circles forever and instead are sort of set on a path where you need to figure out how to move forward here and there. Very cool cinematic story line interspersed. Exactly the right kind of game for me. Would love any other suggestions for similar games. I assume Uncharted 1 and 2 are similar?

The Last of Us. Never as an adult did I have to put down the controller, and turn off a game because of the emotional connection I had to a story. I just did that tonight. Not through with it yet...but damn what a game. You owe it to yourself to play this game if you have not done so.

Do any sites run specials on PS+ memberships? I know the normal price is $49.99. Does anyone like Amazon or whatever run any better deals throughout the year? Or are you pretty much stuck paying that price if you want it?

Earlier in the thread people posted a recent Amazon deal for $30. I think it was in December.

Stayed up til 3 am playing and finishing The Last of Us. My favorite game of the last generation was Bioshock. This game has taken the top spot. No game has ever gripped me emotionally like this game. It is worth buying a PS3 just to play it. There were scenes of brutality, love, beauty, sadness, despair, comedy, etc. It is an experience not to be missed. I'm really looking forward to what Naughty Dog does next. Best third party developer, HANDS DOWN.

Okay, thanks. I'll keep an eye out. Not sure how long I'll be willing to wait. But we just moved, so I definitely have some time before I'd really be able to get my money's worth out of something like that.

This might be a question for the GTA thread but I was playing last night as Michael and in the middle of Los Santos an alien head popped up on the map. When I went to it nothing happened, except 2 people wanted to throw down which led to the cops chasing me. Now it is gone. Is there a reason for that icon on the map? What did I miss?

I am aware of all of the alien and UFO related themes and quests in the game but not this marker specifically.

Does anyone know of a (good) site to sell vintage PC games? I found a store local, but it is only consoles. I am out of space and need to sell off my large box of old school games. Or throw them out. I hate to just pitch them. So I am wondering if it might be possible to sell them to some store somewhere. Really don't want to deal with ebay or any of that.

Have anything interesting? By any chance you have either No One Lives Forever?

No I don't. These games span a lot of years. From Gold Box RPGs to Master of Orion, the original XCOM game, Elder Scrolls: Arena, and a ton more. It's a collection from probably 20 years ago to about 10 years ago. People around here will only take console games. So in the end, I may just post the list here, let people have whatever they may want, and toss the rest.

Getting those jewels to run will be the trick. A game I loved so many years ago was War of the Lance - basically a strategy game with some RPG elements based on Dragonlance. I have those files if anyone loved that one, as well. Gold Box, goodness. I could wax nostalgic about Wizardry, Bard's Tale, etc.

I'd be interested to see the list but I probably own most of what you got.

So you guys were correct. Downloaded the rest and was happy to learn I only need the 2d movie pack. Deleted the 3d movie pack, multiplayer and Spanish pack. Saved about 27 gb right there. Game works perfectly now for single player.

85% of the way done with Tombraider. I'm at the final save point (or Point of No Return). Great story so far. Looking forward to another run through. Seems i missed alot of items early in the game.

You get a chance to go back through different areas for missed items if you want. You don't have to start a new game.

Yeah, in fact you can't get every item during your first run through even if you wanted. You need items you gain later in the game.

Just use fast travel via the camp sites and go back and get all the items you missed.

Xcom: Enemy Within is everything Enemy Unknown should have been. Takes a very good game and makes it great. It's a Civ style expansion so no new story - just enhancements and expansion of the original content.

Missions and maps are more diverse. Lots of cool new features and things to do with your soldiers as well. Normal difficult is now a bit too easy however as the new additions make for a powerful group of grunts.

Fuse on 360 split screen. Decent.
But we can't play together online unless we have two gold accounts.........if it were on the xbox one we could? Why not make Home Gold retroactive to the 360? Stupid.
Yeah, because why would Microsoft want to give people a reason to spend $500 on their new console when they they could be perfectly happy with all the same features on their old one, right?
Home Gold is hardly the only new feature and definitely not the tipping point for me as I already have the new console. If you can't play the old games on the new console you shouldn't have to pay for an additional account to play them on the old console, IMO.

Going to have to give up on The Witcher 2.

It annoys the #### out of me.

I hate the combat and it is one of those "you have to do ABCDEFG and sometimes Y in order to do X" that takes so much of the fun away from the game.

For me it was the technical demands of the game. Granted, I'm on an iMac running windows partition, but I've played many recent games with better graphics than this and they run just fine. I run Witcher 2 on a small resolution and low settings and still get horrible frame rates. I'll pass.

You don't. You can play on your old console just fine with your Home Gold account. And if you're looking for someone to blame about not being able to play together online on the 360, look at the developer, not Microsoft. There are plenty of 360 games where you can put 2 people online with one console and one account.

Yeah, the combat mechanics can be frustratingly complicated on the PC and I don't imagine they are any easier on a console. However I will say that once they 'click' for you the combat actually becomes quite fluid and elegant.

I am not sure about the second complaint. Pretty much every RPG has multiple quests and each quest has multiple steps to complete so how was this any different in that regard?

I can understand a complaint about there being too much back story and dialogue choices (it is a remarkably in depth story) or too many cut scenes but quest steps seems like an odd complaint for an RPG.

Finally started Uncharted 2 this weekend. Everytime I see a white spot (or clipping glitch) in the background I think it's treasure.

I meant the upgrading and using of abilities. I get where people enjoy all sorts of customizations and complexities Nd such. I'm just not one.

Has anyone played Dragons Dogma?

If I enjoyed Oblivion, Skyrim, Dark Souls, Demon Souls, Kingdoms of Amalur and Two World II, is DD something I would like?

Finished up AC4. Best AC since AC2, however the games faults are really starting to get to me. Stealth is absolutely broken in this series, the free running is getting no better either, large group combat flat out sucks - if you block an attack and then counter often it doesn't attack the original attacker especially on a ship. Pretty much all the flaws of AC3 exist in AC4. The one positive was they really worked on the sailing aspects, naval battles are flat out awesome. Story was better than AC3 as well, but still far short of AC2. I think at this point I am done with the AC franchise.

Yes absolutely. Get Dragons Dogma Arisen. It has all the DLC and fixed some bugs and has fast travel.

I have not dug into the game yet...but it is really cool.

Too bad you guys didn't like it. Mass effect, skyrim, dragon age, FO new Vegas, and Witcher 2 were the best RPGs from this generation IMO. Of those though, Witcher is definitely the quirkiest so I'm not stunned some people don't care for it.

Speaking of RPGs, finishing my second play through of the Citadel DLC for Mass Effect 3 and as Insein noted, it is a must play for anyone who felt invested in the ME universe.

I agree with others, I could not stand the combat mechanics of Witcher. I loved everything else about the game but I just couldn't stick with it because I found it so frustrating at times.

At the end of the party the next day when Shepard says "the best" I always get a little choked up. That's how they should have gone out.

:goodposting: Really like this game, but not playing it often enough to get good at it. Pretty sure as much as I keep getting Reilly killed the SPCA is going to come a knocking :scared:
