Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (8 Viewers)

Just listed 27 games, 8 transformer reissues, and one unopened Ultima Online Charter Edition (1997) on ebay to pay for my motorcycle....

I did keep Mass Effect 2, MY Fallouts, Madden 11, and of course, all my Gears!

On a side note though, it's funny, every time I play a shooter on my PS3, I wish the triggers were L2/R2 instead of L1/R1 like they usually are.
Yeah, you get used to one configuration, and then when you try to switch to the other you're constantly throwing grenades every time you want to shoot. :bag:Each layout makes sense given its respective controller. You guys actually have triggers for L2/R2 so using those for shooting makes sense for the 360. They kind of suck for shooting on the dualshock.

So I take it you got the guy to lower his price on the motorcycle? BTW, I just unloaded a bunch of movies and games and made some pretty good money last week.

Finished Bastion which was alot of fun, gonna start up Vanquish, didn't want to pay full price for it last year because of its length.
Achievements are pretty easy I'd say. I'm also halfway done on hard mode. from me.
You're right about achievements. I must have unlocked like 10 in a little over an hour of gameplay. Wasn't even trying they just kept popping up.As for the game itself, it's pretty awesome and very intense, some of the boss fights are real pains. I have no idea how some of these guys are scoring 20,000 in one section when I barely get 5,000. Other than that the action is fantastic, have to figure out some of the basic strategies, kudos to you for playing on hard.
it's certainly challenging, but it's only really the bosses that are hard, although once you figure out the method for killing them, it's not that bad.(lots of cover+slow-mo.)

what's the conscious on Rage as hype goes?
Apprehensive. It could be a great game of a failure. They haven't released very much exciting info to date. So far I know its open world, but you are directed around. Is that the new way of saying linear? The developers say it is 15 hours long, so it will clock in much less, which also points to being linear. It has a wannabee Twisted Metal/Mario Kart racing multiplayer, WTF? It has a separate co-op multiplayer campaign that is limited, so probably a few hours hopefully. I want to like this game and was originally thinking it could be in the BioShock single player campaign quality, but everything I hear makes me cringe.
What little I've seen of it looks like a Borderlands clone.
Here is Kotaku's write-up of the first three hours of Rage. It should curb any preconceived notions that this is a Borderlands clone. I'm still not sure if I'll be buying it, but I'll definitely be trying it out someway to give it a shot. forgot to include the link: http://kotaku.com/5826646/rage-is-the-id-software-comeback-ive-been-waiting-for

I am a chapter away from fninshing Dead Space. Absolutley the best Survival/Action/Shooter I have ever played.

And Dead Space 2 is ready to roll this weekend!

I can't believe I put off playing this game for so long. Truly epic.

Humble Indie Bundle #3 is out. Pay what you want for a bunch of great games.
I hope some others got in on this - they have added 6 games to the bundle at no cost. Still open to buy.
Adding the 2nd bundle does make a better deal. The games in the bundle was rather weak, although still a great deal as always, considering you set your own price. But I already have what I'd want from it. I wish they'd give to a better charity than Child's Play, IMO.

I was trying to figure out what game to play today on my day off and this sealed it for me. Have DS and DS2, but haven't gotten around to them. Looks like now is the time!

I rented LA Noire a couple of days ago, and I'm very glad I went the rental route. It looks fantastic, but the actual gameplay kind of blows. Searching for clues is repetitive, the interrogation sequences are too easy except when they're basically random, and the car-chase and shooting segments are poorly conceived and feel tacked on
:goodposting:I really wanted to like this game. I thought the premise was cool. I just got promoted to my 3rd "desk" and I couldn't care less. I'm not going to complete this.Extremely tedious. If I have to chase another guy up a pole I'm going to lose it.

:goodposting: Only way to play that game.I still need to get started on DS2. I grabbed Mass Effect 2 a couple of weeks back, and it's completely sucked me in. DS2 may have to wait until the fall.

DS and DS2 are great game. The only other game that really stands out to me recently for playing in the dark was FEAR.

HBO Go coming to consoles.
But can you get it yet without subscribing through a cable provider?
I don't see the point, since it's only available if 1) you're a subscriber and 2) your cable or dish company already provides the service.
I'm pretty sure you can only watch Go on a computer. The 360 app would allow you to watch it on your TV.
So basically, HBO Go is HBO on Demand for the computer? And the 360 app would allow you to watch it on your TV? Funny, I already have HBO on Demand on my TV. So again, I don't see the point.

There are a lot more episodes available through HBO Go than through HBO on Demand - for instance, I was able to watch the entire first 3 seasons of True Blood through HBO Go, whereas HBO on Demand only had season 3 available. They have other options also, such as the "enhanced" episodes they had for Game of Thrones where there was more information available in a sidebar about the episode or things featured in it.

Since I am a subscriber, I'll give it a try. I honestly hadn't heard of HBO Go until now.

Thats what I mean. They haven't offered it as a stand alone service like netflix or Hulu yet. When they do, I might get it. Till then, its like you said, whats the point?

Okay, there's officially a 10,000% chance that I'm going to get a ballerass PC for myself this year if I have the means at all.

Yeah, it looks astronomically epic to me. The only way I can see it not being my cup of tea is if I didn't enjoy playing fun video games. On the other hand, it might be something I should stay away from. Getting into an MMO is the last thing I need right now.

At least this MMO is of the F2P model, and not the $15/month kind.

That looks amazing.
And I look at that and think, "yup, zero interest". I know, I know, I have the right to be wrong ;) Just not my cup 'o tea there.
I wouldn't like it, only because Im not a big FPS guy. Looks amazing though.

Yeah, it looks like Borderlands in space with a ton of friends and tons of stuff to do. I'm sold.

You would be surprised how MMO's generally have much lower hardware requirements than others. They have to tone the effects down in order to appeal to a wider base.

If any FBG's are looking to build or buy, let me know and I can see if I can help guide you.

There are only a handful of games that I am all :nerd: :pickle: :excited: about from here on out in 2011 - BF3, Skyrim, Diablo 3 and The Old Republic, assuming it releases this year.

I'm looking for a particular genre of video game, but I'm not sure if it's ever been made.

What I'd like is a WWII strategy sim (turn based, probably) where you can either the Axis or the Allies against each other basically from the get-go. It wouldn't follow historical battles, but rather each game would play out differently based on the outcomes of each battle previously. Sort of like a "choose your own adventure" WWII strategy game. It would be fun to see if you could play as the Nazis and actually fight off the Allies, or play as Japan and try to broker a deal with Russia to move them to your side, etc.

Maybe I'm crazy to even think that a game like this exists, but I think it would be fun.

It could even be a series of games. WWI, etc.

The Europa Universalis series (PC) was something like that. They had a bunch of expansions / different eras - not sure if they ever got into WW2 territory though.Interesting games, but a steeeeep learning curve.

If you have 3 TVs in your house, maybe you decide not to pay for a cable box monthly on one of them and use that TV strictly for gaming, and streaming.

"Perhaps RAGE‘s delay was for the better, as it now gives Xbox 360 owners plenty of time to clear off their hard drive space if they plan on installing id Software’s upcoming post-apocalyptic shooter. You may be asking yourself, “well, it can’t be that big of an install, can it?” Well, the answer is “yes,” and as you may or may not have suspected by media you’ve seen from the game, RAGE’s Xbox 360 install size is a whopping 22GBs! Don’t you dare think about not installing RAGE either, as id’s John Carmack stated that while the install size is unfortunate, if you plan on playing on the Xbox 360, “that’s the way to go.” Otherwise, you’ll just hear that disc “churning around as it’s pulling everything in.” Even Blu-rays!"

Hearts of Iron series might be old but it is very close to what you are describing. there is also the classic SSI games like Panzer General, which was adapted to different theaters of combat. similarly, there is also the Close Combat series. best thing about most of these games is that they're very cheap to get.

Or if you have a friend with HBO and you don't, and they let you use their login...

i didn't even know - or forgot? - that they had a release for this in '09. i tried HoI 1-2 awhile back and it is dated. not especially user friendly but there is fun for folks that like campaigns. i might check this one out too.
