Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (2 Viewers)

Going to fire up Heavy Rain tonight. I borrowed it from my Brother in-law.

Also been getting back into BCBF2 in anticipation of some new maps and some new DLC with Vietnam. I also love the scope on my G-3....awesome.

Still playing NBA2K11 to death as it is the best sports game ever!

Still have Madden 2011 in heavy rotation along with NCAA 2011.
Please post your thoughts on Heavy Rain as I am considering buying it once the price drops. Madden '11 was a huge disappointment for me.
About 35-40% done with this game.

Outstanding and unique. I am really enjoying the music, the characters. It is really a beautiful looking game too. I would wait for it to be 24.99 or less and then i would say go for it.

The controls are clumsy here and there but overall I would give it thus far a solid 8/10 but again I am not done with it yet and the tension is building in the story and has taken a few twists and turns.

Just picked up Bioshock used for $10 at the local game store for Xbox.I love FPS shooters, but I'm just not good at survival games. Any game where you pick up bullets two or three at a time wasn't designed for this guy. I'm playing it on normal and it's incredibly hard for me right now. I haven't even got to the first of those mech things yet and I'm getting destroyed. The hacking mini-games are pretty fun, but I don't know if I'll ever be able to get into this game.
Bioshock is an odd example of a game that starts off really hard but gets pathetically easy as you go along. The first couple of levels are tough. Once you get past Fort Frolic it's a cakewalk.

I don't remember this part. I just remember getting repeated ### ####ed by the ice dude.

Thank you for giving me hope, this is actually what I needed to keep going. Otherwise it probably would have just sat. I don't mind pathetically easy as long as its an enjoyable experience and good story.

time to go xmas shopping. thanks for the heads up.

So because of this, I've decided to acquire some old $20/30 PS3 games for myself this holiday season. Here are some games I'm thinking of: Bioshock (1 and 2), Demon Soul's, Uncharted 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Far Cry 2, inFamous, and Darksider's. Am I missing any obvious good games that can be purchased in that price range? I already own all rockstar games, Fallout 3, Borderlands, and MGS4. And I'm not really looking for any multi-player FPS games since I plan on buying Killzone 3 when it comes out.
Dead Space is one I would add to your list.
Bioshock 1&2, Dead Space, Demons Soul's(if you like rpgs), and Assassin Creed 2 are all excellent games. If you are into fighting games, Super Street Fighter is the best fighter since they were big in the arcades and can be had for $15.
You can get bayonetta real cheap if your into hack and slash type games.highly recommend if you like devil may cry.

The ice dude can be killed with one head shot from that crossbow-like gun (whatever it's called - haven't played in awhile) before he even gets a chance to attack you.

IMO playing Bioshock on anything less than the hardest difficulty with vita chambers off is robbing yourself of a better experience. Its just not the same game when you can get hit a billion times and kill stuff easily.

this is an underrated game, i think.
Agreed. I'd also give serious consideration to Batman:Arkham Asylum in that price range. Far Cry 2 didn't do anything for me though.

I generally dislike superhero movies, and I suppose that dislike has transfered mediums over to video games which is why I've never really been to interested in that Batman game. Though I've seen and heard only rave reviews for that game, so I suppose it deserves a rent, at least, eventually.

You can't go wrong with Uncharted 1 or 2, the Bioshocks or inFamous. Bioshock 1 is probably in my alltime top 5.

Probably, the crossbow is a really good weapon and you do have a few seconds to hit him early before he gets moving. My comment was more directed at Ivan's response in term of difficulty of the game.

Mass Effect 3 Plot Details Spill Out onto the Internet

Written Friday, December 10, 2010 By Dan Webb

As BioWare prepare for their next game unveiling at tomorrow night's Video Game Awards, EA's online store seems to be determined to upset the applecart by listing the much anticipated sequel in the Mass Effect franchise for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Yes, we all know it's coming, Ray Muzyka, BioWare CEO, would say - as he has often said to us - "Mass Effect 3, we haven't announced that formally yet, but we always say it is a trilogy," but this is the first time we've heard any sort of details for the title.

The listing, which has since been removed, comments that Shepard's fight will take players to Earth, which sounds like it has been taken hostage by those pesky sentient machines, The Reapers.

"Earth is burning," says the listing, "Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying machines have begun their destruction of the human race. As Commander Shepard, an Alliance Marine, your only hope for saving mankind is to rally the civilizations of the galaxy and launch one final mission to take back the Earth."

That may not come as a surprise to many of our faithful readers, after all, Muzyka teased Earth in Mass Effect 3 when we asked him and Greg Zeschuk whether we would be heading there at Gamescom this year.

"That is actually one of the things that we hear from fans a lot; they would love to return to earth," said Muzyka with a large grin on his face, "That's a very interesting idea, that's for sure."

Whether this is tied to tomorrow's BioWare VGA announcement remains to be seen, but I'd be very surprised if it was a coincidence.

Sony Russia has already said that it would be Mass Effect 3 too, as well as us surmising that the crosshairs in the two games are awfully similar, so we'd hazard a guess that 1 + 1 + 1 = Mass Effect 3.

I guess we find out tomorrow, once and for all.

I finally played it recently (Arkham Asylum). It's definitely worthy of playing, if not downright owning. It's that good! :goodposting:

I'm interested in playing Lara Croft and the Guardian of the Light with someone co-op on the 360. I have played about 30 minutes of it and it has some nice puzzle and action elements. Its about 7-8 hours from what I have read and has full co-op play where the 1st and 2nd players play as different characters with unique skills that you needs to use to help each other. Instantly after starting, it brought back memories of Diablo 2 for me. The camera angle is exactly like D2 but with high def graphics and the gameplay also has a ery similar feel. Its $15 on the xbox arcade and has collectibles and scoring leaderboards for replay value. Its in the same category as Limbo, Shadow Complex, and Castle Crashers for xbox arcade originals imo.

I am a sick person but when the getting is good you go get.

Gamestop buy 2 get one free on all used games today.

Total spent with Power Rewards 10% discount 70 bucks.

Games purchased for my PS3 and going into the que for next year (have several that I am playing currently)

Badlands

Valkyria Chronicles

Batman Arkum Asylum (my son will love this)

GTA IV

Tiger Woods 2009

Marvel Ultimate Alliance (my son will love this)

Averag game price = $11.66

Now that is how you buy games IMO.
Valkyria Chronicles is incredibly fun. Not enough games like this out there.

Went back for three more...too good to pass up when Gamestop has these sales.

Picked up:

Dragon Age Origins - 24.99

Assassins Creed - Free

God of War III - 17.99

Elder Scrolls: Skyrim has apparently been confirmed for November 2011 and is being built on a brand new engine thank God .

I mentioned earlier that I only buy about half a dozen or games per year. For example, this year I bought Battlefield: Bad Company 2, ModNation Racers, Red Dead Redemption, Fallout: New Vegas, and Assassins Creed 2 (on sale for $20 with an Amazon credit getting it down to $10 net). That was it. But next year is absolutely insane:

Dead Space 2

Mass Effect 2 (PS3)

Killzone 3

Motorstorm: Apocalypse

inFamous 2

ICO Collection

The Last Guardian

Twisted Metal

Batman 2

Elder Scrolls: Skyrim

Uncharted 3

and those are just the ones I know about and can think of right off the top of my head. Ordinarily, every game I just listed would be an automatic release day buy for me. Instead, I'm going to be passing over some extremely good games because I just don't have time for all of them.

I just hope they use the leveling system from Fallout or something similar as opposed to the semi-broken one in Oblivion. Elder Scrolls with a solid engine and user-friendly leveling might be one of the best games of all time. Obviously I have super-high expectations for this one.

I have this on the 360. Been looking to try out the coop as well.

Ugh. So I bought a new 4gb Xbox on Black Friday (came with $60 worth of Target gift cards, so a pretty good deal) without realizing that it needed a hard drive to be compatible with original Xbox games.

Stupid.

Good news is I still have an old Xbox console. But still stupid.

What makes them think I need a 250gb hard drive?

A HDD is required to download updates like that. The flash drive isn't compatible. However, the old 20GB 360 works too, it doesn't have to be the 250GB drive. I wouldn't wish those 4GB flash XBox 360s on anyone, since most games require a real hard drive to play. Microsoft says that they've fixed that issue, but it sounds like they haven't. Sorry.

That'd be fine if there were more options than just he 250gb drive for $150 (or whatever it is). Sell me a $50 20gb one that was good enough in the old 360 I had.Either that or let the user use flash drives in the USB ports.

When my son asked for an Xbox for Christmas, I bought the old Holiday bundle from last year. My local Toys R Us had a few extra left in October (gone now). It's the older model, so it lacks wireless, but that's not a huge deal.

The only reason I even bought the new one was to get an HDMI port so I can hook it up to my new projector setup. Way more fun to play Rock Band on a 92" screen than 37", for sure.

But we also still like playing original Xbox games like Star Wars Battlefront 1 & 2 and Republic Commandos. Sure it's old school and not as graphically cool as stuff like COD, but they're simple and fun. The older 360 I have played those just fine, of course.

They need an adapter that allows you to use an older model XBox HDD with the S-model XBox 360. They did make older style XBox 360s with the HDMI port. If you find any available in stores, they will have it, so you'll be able to even get an Arcade edition and just use the HDD from the one you have. You won't have the included wireless, but it'll play the original XBox games without paying for a new HDD.

How hard is it to put in an internal hard drive? I had no idea i needed this for old xbox games, thanks for bringing this up. I just bought one of the same 4 GB wireless ones.

Easy. There's just a side door that you need to open and then plop one in. Looks like there are HD's available on eBay. Anyone know it these are legit/usable?

As long as it looks like this and not this, you should be fine with the S-model. There apparently are some homebrew ways to make your own HD XBox ready, and I assume that's how they are selling these for as low as they are. Hopefully you get one that works. Good luck.

Anyone tried out the move? I'm tempted to grab a ps3 with it.
Works better without the PS3. The PS3 causes lag issues between the Move and your TV. Skip the PS3 and just run the Move your response times will be far more lifelike.
 :X
I think that was his attempt at being a jackass.
I wasn't attempting I was being a jackass. I personally love it with Tiger 11. It beats the heck out of just sitting there and playing golf, it forces you to get up and actually swing which isn't a bad thing. Hoping it doesn't become too much of a gimmick. The disc it comes with is fun but gets old real quick. Is that more of what you were looking for?

Alright....got one more...now I am done for sure.

14.99 with free shipping from Amazon

Demon Souls.

Still really digging Heavy Rain and about 65% done with that. Once I finish that one it is on to Uncharted 2 and Dead Space.

I picked up three used PS3 games for $28 w/free shipping the other day from a site on slickdeals (gohastings.com):

Uncharted

Killzone 2

Madden 2010
