Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (4 Viewers)

Dang it, TR for that is tempting me. Only spent $5 so far. Great price on BL2, as well. I am soooo backlogged with games, must. . . resist. . .

Not trying to break your willpower, but TR is worth making an exception for.
My problem is my backlog includes Far Cry 3, finishing BL2, Batman Arkham Asylum AND City, Fallout New Vegas (30% done), Max Payne 3 (50% done), Torchlight 2, The Walking Dead, Assassin's Creed 2, TW: Shogun 2, Empire and Napoleon, and about another 30 games. :bag: ANd I play maybe once a week with how busy my life is with family, business and building my new office, church responsibilities. I could wait until it is $5 on Christmas. Or not. :nerd:

I could be wrong, but I wouldn't expect it to be $5 by Christmas.

BTW, all other Tomb Raider games, besides the 2013 one, are 91% off right now. Tomb Raider Anniversary and Tomb Raider Underworld look like steals at 80 cents each.

But the one thing that is better than playing a video game is researching and being able to talk about the game. Well at least for moobin and I. I'm in the same boat as you with the stack of 30+ games on the to be played list.

StarDrive is supposed to have a good combat system for 4X, as well.
I've been looking hard at that game. The learning curve is supposed to be crazy and they don't hold your hand but once you get it it is supposed to be cool.
I just haven't pulled the trigger on a 4X in a long time due to fear of being let down or it being way too complex. The Total War model would be amazing for 4X, I think, or at least a hybrid 4X.

I just finished my first play through of The Last of Us and am doing a second on hard now.

Hands down the best non sports game of this generation.

I am starting dark souls and far cry 3 tonight.

Currently playing The Show 13 and at the All-Star break in my Yankees franchise. And in June in my 1988 Yankees season replay.

I also just started Lego Batman 2 with my son. Really good so far.

Tomb Raider for $12.49
Borderlands 2 for $10.19
Witcher 2 EE for $4.99
Heroes of Might and Magic 6 for $10.19

On a budget, picking up Heroes for sure, still wafflng on Tomb Raider.

LA Noire looks interesting for $5. Any opinions? Is the extra $2.50 worth it for the DLC?
Hard to say, people seem to be 50/50 on whether they enjoyed LA Noire or not, if you enjoy sandbox games or anything in the GTA series you will probably enjoy this. Also the DLC bundle for LA Noire is like 5 missions and some cosmetic stuff, I don't think its worth it personally.

The new Tomb Raider is worth today's price. If I didn't already 100% it during rental, I'd probably pick it up. I don't know if I'd recommend Anniversary and Underworld even for the 80¢

While it's made by the same people, LA Noire is hardly a sandbox game. Sure, you can take a different route to a scene if you want, but it really doesn't have side quests or anything like that. LA Noire is closer to a point-and-click adventure game, IMO.

And get Tomb Raider if you haven't already.

 really? I never really had any intention of ever buying either of them, but I figured they couldn't not be worth 80 cents each.

You're definitely welcome to give it a shot. They were nothing I cared about.

Age of Empires 2 HD is $10.

Kinda tempted to pull the trigger.
Add $7 and get the bundle with Age 3 too. I already have AoE II, but I don't mind adding it to my Steam account.
AoE3 sux.
Can confirm this as well, I will say however the AoE2 HD remake is also very sloppy and only really worth it if you wanna play the game again, none of the graphics were redesigned and despite being "HD" they didn't redo the sprites at HD resolutions.

so what made it HD? Or was it just to slap the HD on the title to have more people buy it like many of the goty titles.

It was a cashgrab, they upscaled the graphics to allow the game to be played at HD resolutions and did some work on some of the tilesets, and completely ignored others.

Didn't change any animations, so while some units appear more defined and some tilesets look brand new the animations remain choppy.

If you love AE2, especially multiplayer you will like the game, its just not much of a remake and I think even its sale price is too high.

You guys were right, the ending to Bioshock Infinite was awesome. Very enjoyable game, fun play through, great ending.

Spoiler link, I thought this was a great article on the parallels between games

If anybody with Last of Us wants to trade games, I'll pay both shippings :)

3 wasn't as good as the second, but I thought it was still good.

Did they redo how multiplayer works? The last time I reinstalled AoE2 from disk, it wouldn't connect to Microsoft's servers because the service (Microsoft Gaming Zone) has since been closed.

Never played multi on AoE. Love AoE 2 and have been playing the campaign stuff on hard for a month but mostly for nostalgia.

Bought Crusader Kings 2 that will probably be my next play.

I'm pretty sure multiplayer is player hosted.

The only significant difference to the game itself in multiplayer is that the population cap is no longer 200 it is now 500. They didn't solve the lag however, so it will still lag when you approach the old cap of 200 and get worse the further you go on.

It was pier-to-pier then too, but it used the Gaming Zone to find matches, etc. Otherwise, you had to know your opponent's IP address to connect to them.

New flash sales up, first random software included.

Sim City 4 is $5.99, kind of a lot IMO for a game thats been out forever, think I got it for $0.99 last sale. Metro Last Light is 40% off for $29.99, probably the cheapest it will be during this sale. Never heard of Dawn of Fantasy, all I know is it has nothing to do with Warhammer fantasy.
