Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (5 Viewers)

I just read that Amazon is offering to match Steam prices on games and if you use the code "gooncave" they'll knock an additional 15% off.

Haven't tried it myself, but thought I'd pass it along.

Could anyone recommend a kid friendly game that's similar to World of Goo?
Here are some good Kid friendly games, all available on Steam. You didn't specify age, so I'm gonna list a few. Some of these are challenging, but so were most NES games.

Dust: An Elysian Tail

Rayman Origins

Cave Story+

Plants vs Zombies

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 - Kids love Roller Coasters!

Scribblenauts Unlimited

Crayon Physics Deluxe

Crazy Machines

Toki Tori (and the sequel. You can get both games in a bundle for under $14)

Incredipede was listed in one of the votings and looked very similar to World of Goo. Haven't played it.

I also see Cut the Rope and Angry Birds are now on Steam. I'm sure you've played them. I don't care for paying for them when I have them for free, but there they are.

NCAA 14 is fun
How is dynasty mode?
I usually only rent NCAA Football. This year, I bought. I think Dynasty mode has been greatly improved. I wish some more work was put into Road to Glory, though.
I always buy. Last year was a major disappointment. This year has been fun, I'm doing the ultimate team stuff until they get good named rosters. Fun but frustrating with the lack of info on collections, etc.
I love the changes to recruiting. In the past, it has been a chore, but now I find myself wanting to get games over with so I can see how we fare in the race the next week.

Finished up Hotline Miami this weekend.

Fun game - I liked it a lot more than I thought I would going in. I love games like this and FTL that show that graphics aren't the end all be all.

I picked up The Walking Dead for PC on Steam, not really digging the controls at all.
Its' really all about the story and the controls, I think, emulate a more accurate reality if one were caught in that situation. They really help to drive up the tension level too.

In reality when I go to kick a zombie on the floor grabbing my foot in the face I bet I could do that. I couldn't do that on a regular basis with these controls.

I like the story. I like the limited time to make decisions. I don't like the switching between keyboard and mouse when dialog choices come up versus looking around the environment and trying to land on the circle, then choose if I want to look at it or grab it, etc.

You run into a lot of zombies in the Carolinas?

I ended up getting the Tomb Raider for $10 and change with the whole Amazon ripoff of the Summer Sale and saving the extra 15%. :bag:

You'd be surprised.

Question for the steam users, is there any way to throttle the download speed so it doesn't suck the majority of bandwidth? For whatever reason even when its dl speed is much lower than our internet it still dominates the connection so others can't stream anything.

I can't support Amazon on this one. Feels like it's a move just to hurt Steam and I'm going to keep showing loyalty to Steam and forgo the extra 15%.

Played around with this last night. In your settings you can supposedly set a ceiling for bandwidth. However, when I tried it, it didn't seem to really work. You might need to re-start Steam after you set it if it works at all.

Steam settings > Downloads tab > Limit downloads to the following bandwidth:

What extra 15%? I was browsing games on Amazon and the prices almost exactly match Steam.

They auto-match, but you enter like Geekcave or something and it gives you 15%. I will keep supporting Steam as I have, just was looking at it, it came up, the 15% worked, and I succumbed.

Picked up Eador in the Steam sale. Looks pretty good - we'll see how it plays out.

Still debating Endless Space if it reappears on the last day or as a flash sale. Anyone play it? I've been looking for a good 4x space game for a while.

Found MoO 1 & 2 at GoG.com for $2.09

Will buy it later tonight just for a working copy.

You've played the Galactic Civilizations games, right?

Commiserate with me brothers....my launch model 60GB PS3 just got the Red Light Of Death. :kicksrock: :sadbanana:

This after I JUST bought and installed a new 750GB hard drive in it.

Fortunately, the disc that's stuck inside is the $3 used copy of GRAW:2 and not the Blu Ray of Gettysburg that I just watched the other day.
Sweet! Gamestop has a bump in trade in value for the next two weeks.

They're going to give me $128 for my 7 year old, bricked PS3. :pickle:

They took mine a few months ago. I think I got back around $90.

Deus Ex: HR is on the list of potential flash sales, at 85% off for $3 it will probably win and if you haven't played it yet, whats wrong with you?

Agreed. I voted for it even though I already have it (I have the other two games it is competing against on my wishlist too). because I think more people should play it to encourage them to continue the series.

They have been doing this for a couple of years now. I think I even posted about it when Andy said his machine died.

It won. For $3 it would be silly not to buy this game. Lots of fun.

I got NBA 2k13 on the Steam sale. I've been a big fan of the My Player mode on 2k11 and 2k12. I can't seem to get the game to do auto play calling in this one. It seems like the entire team just runs all over the court hoping to get open while the PG or the SG run ISO. If I can't find a way to get that fixed soon, I'll be un-installing this POS. Game-breaking bug, IMO.

Yes. I am actually trying to buy them as well since I no longer have a copy. For $5 you can't pass up. However I am at work and can't remember my log-in and steam only allows you to retrieve your password from your steam application, not from the website. I am at work... going to miss the sale.

Is there a sale you need gotten? I can get on in a bit and buy it for you if need be. Just heading out for a run now. How much longer on the sale?

I gave this a fair run not long ago. Extremely deep game but it just turned into a slog after a while, much like Civ 5 did. AI is very limited.

Big forum on it, though (sorry, no link) including a long string of advice for beginners.
