Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (5 Viewers)

Need to figure out if I want to:

1. Play through Skyrim a 2nd time

2. Finish Arkham City (16% complete)

or

3. Start Uncharted Trilogy
Really loved the Uncharted series. 2 is the best.
Arkham City, IMHO. It's a quick game if you aren't concerned about 100% completion of everything, and I found the game to be incredible.
I loved Arkham City. When I was reading his post, I was thinking he meant finishing it to 100% completion, which I never did (maybe I should have). All the Riddler's quests started getting tedious for me.
I did everything except the Riddler stuff. It was beyond tedious.

how long did it take you to finish Skyrim? I've always thought about picking that up, but scared it might take me 300 hours to finish...I'm OCD enough to try and do all the sidequests.
I think to 100% if you never stray is like 40 hours but realistically like 80. Games a lot more fun if you role play so that adds some game time.
I platinumed Skyrim but I thought that the miscellaneous quests were infinitely looping meaning that you could play it forever.

I meant all the non-miscellaneous quests, which are infinitely generated.

So how long is the storyline for Tomb Raider? I put in a few hours last night and made it a fair ways in the story I think. I am not one to go crazy with completion %. I have too many games to spend hours looking for totems or burning flags. Interesting story. I am guessing this is just a reboot, as this is the origin.
If you don't spend a lot of time looking around, it is kind of a short game. I would guess maybe 10-12 hours?
Just checked my Steam - 12 hours to finish. Only 30% complete however, I'm definitely NOT a completionist when it comes to games like this. Some of the ones I didn't do would be pretty simple to complete though.

For whomever talked about Rogue Legacy here, I'm not sure whether to flip you off or thank you. What a time suck. And my 8 year old is hogging my computer mercilessly.

Playing state of decay right now and enjoying it quite a bit. It's can be a little tedious with fetch quests to build up supplies but making the max amount of outposts and facilities(med center, sleeping area, garden, etc.) is vital. One key thing is to not remove the supply crate(rucksack) from their cache or else you won't get the bonuses for having the outpost. Their is misinformation floating around that you can place the rucksacks on the ground anywhere and make a outpost for the benefits, but that is incorrect. Also I don't worry much about the constant #####ing back in home base because those are random missions that you can't make everyone happy, same with the "zed" hunts.

I have a solid three person rotation going that allows everyone to rest up in between runs although my Marcus got annihilated the first time I faced off against the special zombie that I have dubbed the fatty. He stood no chance on a certain quest mission when the fatty showed up and I was in a small closet with it blocking the doorway. To make it worse it was dark out in the game, it was 3AM here, I had surround sound headphone blasting, I was hopped up on coffee, and our cat wet nose bumped me on the leg right as the fatty surprised me. I yelped like a little ##### while tossing molatovs and firing shotgun shells into him as I frolicked about trying to escape the closet with zero stamina. He then tore me in half. Sad day.

So if you would be interested in a GTA style real time gameplay based in a zombie world, check out State of Decay. It's certainly worth the $20 imo.

I think what frustrated me about Arkham City is that I almost finished the payphone mission, but then the villain just stopped calling me. And I stood at every payphone I saw- like a sad lonely looser waiting for my GF to call me.

And the stunt challenges are hard as hell. The one where you need to dive off the crane and swoop through the waterway is almost impossible for me. I know it's not important for the main story but I like to finish sidequests as they appear before proceeding with the other quests.

Similar experience (sans the dog =p) - The fatty caught me at a front porch. I'm running out of the house full of screamers with no stamina and then the fatty comes barreling down on top of me. I tried beating on him but realized my only chance of surviving was to hit him with a Molotov. I got lucky and hit him dead on, but lost points for setting friendly npc's on fire.

I managed to limp back home though.

Started and finished Spec Ops: The Line this weekend. I enjoyed it. The whole "tough decisions" aspect is weak and rightfully criticized as your decisions ultimately mean very little until the ones at the very end. Still, it was a fun take on Heart of Darkness and the setting (Dubai after a prolonged period of record breaking and civilization destroying sand storms) was pretty cool.

Taken just as a gritty FPS in a cool setting it's a fun game. There was a lot of potential with the tough choices but ultimately they failed on that. I'm guessing the extra development to ultimately make your choices mean something in the course of the gameplay was not something they wanted to take on.

If you are an fps fan, definitely worth $5-$10

Picked up Tomb Raider in the Summer Sale and played a few hours tonight. Good stuff. I have never really played TR, so it is a fun change of pace.
My 2013 GOTY. Really liked this one.

Shouldn't take you more than 20 hours and you could probably do it in less if you are uber focused on only the main quests. Personally I like side quests in most games because they help max out my XP, which can be very useful for those boss fights.

Sounds good to me. I need a new game and now that the kids are about back to school its probably time to reclaim the xbox from them.

BTW it comes out TuesdayI feel like a creeper when I send you a party invite and "this is barleys kid" is sent back. Sarah and I both preordered it and will have it by tomorrow night. Manback also seems interested and talked about preordering. It's only 4 player coop but imagaine the cluster #### we would have to go through it was a 10 person coop with CJ, JD, Manback, You, me, Sarah, culdeus, Uni, worm, and moobin. We would not be able to decide on a single thing. Worm and I would be trying to figure out a plan of attack and escape. Manback would already be in the bank. Uni/culdeus and CJ/JD would be #####ing back and forth at each other. You, Sarah, and moobin would be standing back watching the whole #### storm go down shaking your heads talking about random stuff.

This was a really good game both in terms of gameplay and story. I agree that the "tough choices" don't really matter that much, but the general direction and tone of the story was a welcome change from the dude-bro attitude that you see all the time in these sorts of games. Plus it was pretty hard in spots.

Payday 2 release is all ####ed up. Some gamestops got it today, many did not and will tomorrow. Some wont get it till Friday or even next week. Stores like Walmart and best buy have no idea when they are getting it.

The game got 8/10 from ign and basically like most co-op orientated games, it's will be as fun as the people you play with. When I get my copy I'll give more in depth review.

All my friends really like the original Payday, and I've been hoping for a sale on PSN now that Payday 2 is out so that I can join them.

Yah, I bought this on sale ($15 I think?) and was pretty impressed with the story. It was a good game that I wouldn't have wanted to pay full price for (it was really short in actual play time, if I recall) but was well worth the sale price.

payday 2 is hard as #### or I just suck balls (1 player mode)
The review I saw said 1 player was almost unplayable it was so bad. Your AI compaions don't do enough to make it possible. Sounds like you really need to find friends to multiplayer this.

From what I have read playing single player is really tough because the AI are not "smart". Aka they don't do quest items, they only shoot enemies and soak up bullets and are fairly decent at doing both.Around here payday 2 hasn't shipped and is delayed 1-3 days, but they are offering 10% off for the inconvirnce, so I'll take it.

Yea, and every heist turns into a massive shootout with the cops so it's good they actually hold their own a little bit there. It's also only two comp guys and you instead of the 4 man team like in multiplayer.

Yea, fk that... that is not fun. It might be decent in mulitplayer... but even then all the holding of R2 for locks and drills is lame.

Amazing Humble Bundle today - via Origin. You get Dead Space, Dead Space 3, Crysis 2 Max Edition, MIrror's Edge, Burnout Paradise and Medal of Honor for $1. Pay the average and get BF3 and Sims 3 +DLC. That is outstanding.

ETA all games get individual keys, so if you own some, you can gift them to others.

Is it the average price at the time of purchase to get BF3 and Sims?

Yes, and that price is falling, probably due to a lot of EA hate. It fell 10 cents from when I started my transaction to when it went through.

BF3 was great, though I have not played in months. I have several keys I need to decide who to gift them to - I already have DS and MOH on my Origin account, but am pretty sure I do not want to give them to my son (13 y.o.) The language and content is a little salty for my tastes for him.

Any FBG's have any interest in those? I might check with a few friends, as well.

Great bundle - would pay $5 if I didn't already have Battlefield and would never pay the Sims on origin.

Still for a two bucks ill take mirrors edge and some other games ill never play.

Need an Xbox 360 game. Getting burned and bummed out with what I have. I actually pulled the playstation 2 out of storage for some Vice City and had a blast for awhile but I haven't gone back to it in a few weeks. Finding myself bored of the Vice City/Red Dead Redemption engine. Not a horror gore type of gamer. I'm almost done with Madden and all football games because I just can't get the AI to be a place that I would consider fun without super LB's and ridiculous results. Love the baseball games but playing a 162 season is just hard when you have kids. I think overall I'm just kinda dulled to the whole gaming thing right now.

Is there a good pick me up out there that will get my juices flowing? I don't play multiplayer online stuff. Really hate the games that make me physically move like Kinect stuff - it's fun with the kids, but when I play its because I'm tired and want to relax, not work out again. I like the mission style of GTA and RDR and am ok with something like that. It's hard to explain what I'm looking for. I remember Vice City just blowing my mind when I got it and got me back into gaming, and then believe it or not Mario Kart on the Wii was just endless hours upon months of fun. Looking for something like that again.

It's not a job. If you're getting burnt out from playing games, it's time to take a break from it for a while.

Do you have a gold membership? If so Crackdown is free right now and could scratch that itch.

I also agree with Andy, Deus Ex is awesome. Can't go wrong there either.

Is that only for PC? I got it hoping it was PS3... or do you have to install it through the PS3 itself and not transfer from PC?
