How is Arkham City on PC? Any good?
Very fun. Thanks to GB Max Threshold, my son and I just got through with Arkham Origins, also very fun. There is nothing ground breaking in it, but it is fun to go through new missions. How is Arkham City on PC? Any good?
I actually thought combat in TW1 was fairly simple and elegant. They revamped it almost entirely for TW2, so I wouldn't feel the need to play TW1 to help learn combat in TW2. It is complicated in TW2 simply because you have a lot of options (e.g. left mouse = fast attack, right mouse = strong attack, #4 rotates through and arms 1 of 5 bomb/throwing dagger/trap slots, R = Use bomb/dagger/trap, 5-9 = cast one of 5 magic spells, W,S,A,D are still movement but double tapping is a quick dodge in that direction). If you know where all of these are and can use them instinctively on the keyboard then combat becomes very fun, but unless you spend hours in the tutorial getting to the point where you have that all figured out takes almost a full playthrough.Never made it far in TW1 because of that combat learning curve. Sounds like I need to try again.Working on my second playthrough of The Witcher 2. I think this is the first time I have ever done a second play through of an RPG. I highly recommend this one but I come from the perspective where I like a nice challenge but a well told story is much more important to me. You can play TW2 on insane difficulties but it's real value is in the story which is incredibly rich and detailed.
The only flaw is there is a steep learning curve on combat. It wasn't until I was deep into the second chapter (of three) that I really got the hang of combat but once it clicks it becomes very fun and, at times quite elegant.
Perhaps my favorite RPG of all time. I love Mass Effect but for me TW2 edges it out because your actions really do have consequences. At the end of ME3 no matter what decisions you made throughout you still got three choices for the endgame. With TW2 there are, I believe, 16 possible outcomes and around 13 major decision points that impact which of the 16 outcomes you will get. So the ending is truly up in the air. TW2 incorporated your game saves if you played TW1 and I really hope they incorporate TW2 choices with as much depth with TW3, which is now the most anticipated game on my wishlist.
My son has been playing that with his buddies. I know nothing about it, but I can tell you he's been loving it.I just picked up Payday 2 for $20. My friends and I were waiting on Payday: The Heist to go on sale, but it hasn't dipped below $20 on the PS3, so we all jumped on #2.

Bank robbing simulator type game. Really really fun. It was the main game I was playing before GTA came out. There is another installment out? I thought they were just gong to add more missions to Payday 2. Anyway, if you ever need a fourth let me know.Is it like the board game?I just picked up Payday 2 for $20. Supposed to be real good. I got the first one, but haven't played it yet. I have this one on my wish list and I'm thinking about it.How about Metro: Last Light. Anyone play that on PC?
Played a little 2033 & I'm looking at Last Night but at the current $14 price, I'll wait. It should be below $10 during the spring Steam Sale. How about Metro: Last Light. Anyone play that on PC?
And Witcher 2 is still $5. Picked that up as I don't think it will go down from there.Chaka said:Steam Sale has Far Cry three for $7.49 until 10 am PST tomorrow.
That is as good of a price as you can expect to see so if you have been holding off (like me) now is the time to jump in.
Sad thing is I bought Witcher and Witcher 2 in Summer Sale 2012 for $7.50 and $15. Have played a total of 73 minutes on TW1. Sigh. And Witcher 2 is still $5. Picked that up as I don't think it will go down from there.Chaka said:Steam Sale has Far Cry three for $7.49 until 10 am PST tomorrow.

Yeah, that's a good deal. The lowest I've ever gotten it is $35.Is $40 for 12 months of live gold a good deal? That's what they are offering in Xbox marketplace right now.
I have Civ V and have been told by people I trust to skip Gods and Kings and just get Brave New World which apparently adds a lot to the game.Thinking of getting back into Civ V w/ the 2 expansions. Thoughts?
It took me a long time to get into TW1, the prologue is so poorly written and voice acted I put it down and walked away for several months. A friend convinced me to go back and tough it out through the prologue and I am very glad I did. It has its flaws with some repetitive monster fighting and a clunky inventory system but the combat, IMO, is quite original and elegant (it's not a typical button masher) as well as visually fun to watch, the story is incredibly rich and detailed and the voice acting and dialogue improves dramatically after the prologue. With all the side quests and story missions I ended up with around 70 hours of gameplay on a single playthrough of TW1. That is serious bang for your buck (I think I only got under 30 hours on a single playthrough of Bioshock Infinite).Sad thing is I bought Witcher and Witcher 2 in Summer Sale 2012 for $7.50 and $15. I have enhanced edition. Just need to find time to suck it up I guess. I think that is why I am enjoying Dark Souls. It's pretty straightforward so you can essentially sit down and play. But they could have used a map.Witcher 2 seems like a really cool game (I've played for about an hour) but another one that might be too complex for me.
Feels like Dragon Age in that I need to know how to mix potions and put them in the right slot just to upgrade my leather armor to one with elf scales or some such thing.
I just want to sit down and play, man.
It is definitely a complicated game. If you put most of your skill points into the swordsmanship tree as you level up you can get away without having to use too many potions/bombs/magic.Witcher 2 seems like a really cool game (I've played for about an hour) but another one that might be too complex for me.

I've been having a hard time explaining why I couldn't get into this game. I think you just nailed it.Witcher 2 seems like a really cool game (I've played for about an hour) but another one that might be too complex for me.

Goodbye life. I put 300+ hours into Skyrim. Ridiculously good.Got one of the last Skyrim Legendary Editions from amazon for $20.

I played through twice without ever making a bomb. I don't remember messing around with magic or potions much either, though it's been awhile. The crafting system is terrible and I did need to use google to figure out how to do a couple of crafting jobs to complete a side quest, but I found it to be much more like Dragon Age 2 in that that stuff is largely optional. It is definitely a complicated game. Too late. Already had Civ V from when it first came out and just got the upgrade pack for $5 which included G&K. So you're saying that the $10 for BNW is totally worth it? Noted, thanks.I have Civ V and have been told by people I trust to skip Gods and Kings and just get Brave New World which apparently adds a lot to the game.Thinking of getting back into Civ V w/ the 2 expansions. Just can't find a game that even comes close to how much I enjoyed this game. They have a section on the dashboard for the free games of the month. Goto it and then it'll have a link to the game pages where you can download them. They should say free.So how do you get your free games on Xbox live gold?
Are you talking about controllers or remotes? I am confused why you would need two remotes......If you want controllers, ebay has a ton on sale including some new aftermarket cheapies that you can look up to see their reviews.phowler13 said:I haven't played my ps3 in awhile but just picked up disney infinity for my kids for Xmas. My local Targets have been blowing out the Gioteck wireless controller for about $15. I bought one and it seems to work just fine.phowler13 said:I haven't played my ps3 in awhile but just picked up disney infinity for my kids for Xmas. I really like it but there's all kkinds of bugs on the 360. I've had 2 games get corrupted to the point where I had to start over (including one when i saved in the middle of the final mission) as well as tons of freezes and crashes.playing the high holy crap out of XCOM: Enemy Within. it's the new version of Enemy Unknown, and is the game i've been waiting for. it's as close to the original as they are likely to get, and it's a lot of fun. if you liked EU, try this one.
