Some games work really well with low player counts. This isn't my kind of game regardless, but if I was in the market for it before, I'd still be in the market now. I'm also curious to see what they're going to do with AI/bots; that could theoretically be something different that could spice up the shooter genre a little.

First Gears was actually 4 on 4. However, Gears was way more tactical than Titanfall seems to be. Gears combat could be really fast, but there was also a ton of map strategy and teamwork involved. To me, Titanfall just looks like Call of Duty with Jetpacks and Mecs.

It totally looks like Halo 2 to me. I'm not touching that game with a 10 foot pole. I hope I'm wrong but it looks like it's going to take bunny hopping to a whole new level.

I already have little faith with the launch issues that EA games have had recently. I won't be pre-ordering or buying it at launch, but I'm still interested. I hope the 6v6 play works well. That's not a whole lot at all and I imagine the maps to be rather small.

It's 6 vs 6 human players. Plus 12 AI per team and Titans. Reading the article, it seems the developer tested out all sorts of combinations and found the sweet spot is 6 v 6 humans.

A 12-player headcount in matches of Titanfall is the sweet spot for the game, the title's lead designer tells Polygon. Any less and things threaten to get boring. Any more and the game becomes so intense it's off-putting.

But that doesn't mean matches will be limited to teams of six running around trying to take one another out. Each map also supports up to 12 AI-controlled characters per side and each of a match's six player-controlled characters can, in theory, have a Titan following them like over-protective, weaponized pets.

So counting AI, counting players and counting Titans in guard or follow mode, a match can feature nearly 50 characters trying to kill one another.

But the decision to keep the player count to six per side wasn't based as much on worries about a crowded battlefield as it was the reaction play testers had to the intensity of the experience, said Justin Hendry, lead designer at Respawn.

"The higher the player count, the more uncomfortable the game gets," he said. "Unlike in most games where you can sit there and guard the two ways in, in Titanfall the guy can come in through the window right behind you, he can come from the window to your left, he can come from straight ahead, he can come in from the stairway and he can come in from the doorway, or whatever. Essentially there are five directions you can get killed from and the higher that player count, the more likely you are to get killed from behind and the more difficult it is to kind of manage your surroundings."

That's because of the particular design of Titanfall. When not in their Titans, pilots aren't really meant to walk or even run along the ground, they're meant to traverse maps by wall running. And the more a player wall runs, the faster they move.

Combine that with the fact that players can essentially create their own approach into a building, up a building or around a building, and toss in those mammoth Titans, and suddenly a player's brain has a lot more to think about than in a typical shooter.

The increased speed that comes with wall running and with being in a Titan also means that players can find one another much faster than in your typical shooter, so player count doesn't have to be inflated to create action. The action is always seconds away.

So player count, while important, became less about delivering a number to match other online shooters and more about finding what felt the most fun and the least overwhelming.

Throughout development, Hendry said, the team played around with a wide variety of team sizes. The game started with 8 or 12 players per side and slowly drifted down to eight, seven, five even two per side before the team eventually settled on six versus six, he said.

"It's been this number for months," he said. "We are pretty avid players in the studio. People speak their minds and we listen and make changes. This is the number that felt best.

"When people start playing Titanfall like Titanfall, the player count becomes a non-issue."

"The game is essentially built to be six on six."

And that headcount won't impact map size, he said; Titanfall has all sorts.

"There are at least two maps that are really big, one of those is huge," Hendry said. "The map size isn't a technical limitation, it's what felt best. It's, 'How do we make this thing feel good?' Some maps are smaller, some are medium size and some are bigger.

"I think the only thing that the player count does is really affect the overall chaotic level of the game."

Number of players also won't impact the sorts of modes the game has, though Hendry declined to say what they'll be beyond the two publicly shown.

The reaction to the game's player count, announced in a tweet earlier this week, didn't necessarily take the team by surprise. There seems to be an understanding at the studio that Titanfall isn't quite understood yet by people not directly involved in its creation.

By design Titanfall is meant to be a game that while easy to drop into, is hard to master and understand the nuance of.

"When people start playing Titanfall like Titanfall, the player count becomes a non-issue," he said.

Take the game's AI-controlled characters. They aren't there to fill in the roster or load out a map that only supports six players per side.

Playing through the 30 years of Wrestlemania mode. I played as Andre the Giant vs Big John Stud in the body slam challenge match. Andre had to body slam Big John Stud (who had never been body slammed) in under 6 minutes. The winner of the match got 15K. If Andre lost he would have been forced to retire. Earlier that year in a match with Stud (1985) Andre had all his hair cut off (as he laid unconscience in the ring) by Big John Stud.

Also played the Hulk Hogan vs King Kong Bundy Cage match. Insane fun guys. The game is really cool. it also has the retro grainy screen during these early WWF matches.

Anyway my kid is 9....I finally showed him some WWE main event (first time I have watched wrestling in 25 years) and he ate it up....man how stupid some of it is. But.....kids love it. Good fun. My dad took me to Florida professional wrestleing in the Miami beach Convention center to see Dusty Rhodes "The American Dream" fight OX Baker. Great memories.

Need to get my kid out to a WWE event just so he can experieince the madness once.

I bought Skyrim Legendary Edition since it was on sale and I wanted the 3 expansion packs. I have done everything the guides say I need to do to trigger the expansion games so I can start the quests but nothing is working. Anyone have this edition of the game? How did you get the expansion quests to start? I am using an existing game from the regular version and my character has pretty much done all of the other quests and is very high level.

Got about 6 hours in Mass Effect 2 now (got "archangel", jack, and the bounty Hunter as well as the scientist).

Good:

Graphics are noticeably smoother going straight from 1 to 2 - much improved framerate.

Shooting and cover is much smoother.

Bad:

I hate having to worry about ammunition during battle

Not really much customization to it anymore - not as much leveling and skill points and nowhere to put them if it was included. That's disappointing.

Also it took forever, but I became accustomed to the inventory in the first and don't really care for the new one.

I'm a good 25 hours in now - I still agree with the cons above (especially the ammo part), but the game is still incredible. In fact, if it had kept the customization from 1, it would be up there with my top games ever. The storyline and worlds have been really entertaining. I especially dug Thane and acquiring him.

For me it was ME1. The first time you get that reveal of what the Reapers are is one of those "holy ####" mind blowing events in gaming.

Thane is awesome. I think he and Modrin are my favorite companions. I can't say more about it without spoiling it but thinking about them makes me want to start another play through.

My son is 6, almost 7. He freakin' loves this game. I do too. It is so well done. The stories make sense, and each characters' powers are shown perfectly and used in the right ways.

For example:

They way Thor flies and swings his hammer are spot on.

When Spidey chnages to and from Peter Parker and encases himself in webbing to do so it awesome.

The Iron Man flying physics are great.

Johnny Storm shouting "FLAME ON!" when he jumps up and encases himself in fire.

Magneto flying around the streets, arms folded, while standing on a metal lego piece just looks RIGHT.

These are just a few. Plus the INSANE amount of characters. Whoever said that they had the Marvel Encyclopedia and uses it to go over the characters every time one is introduced is a genius.

Once he finished the main story, it said he was only about 17% done with the game. He's on a mission to collect all 225 Gold Bricks and unlock all the characters.

Well worth the price tag.

Yeah, that was us that use the encyclopedia. We have learned so much from it and it has enhanced the game. There are some pretty cool inside jokes too. There is a trophy/achievement that pops called "Don't I know you?" the first time Johnny Storm and Captain America are together . Daughter loves those kind of jokes.

Every Lego game is made with love but this one even tops Lord of the Rings for us. My daughter keeps trying to get into space with iron man but has not made it yet.

The open city setting (relative to other Lego games) is great.

When your son gets saves every Stan Lee and unlocks Stan Lee, make sure he plays with him. He has a funny super power . And don't forget to tell your son about all the side missions. They tier unlock after you acquire X amount of gold bricks.

Question: SPOILERS I did all the loyalty missions and bought the ship upgrades - I still lost one crew member in the suicide run (Mordin got shot going through the ducts). How do I keep them all alive.

He is correct. Reptilium Ruckis or something like that. I think the side missions also have free play as well as the main missions. He probably already knows about free play.

Have to do the things you did and then choose the right people for each job. Certain people are more acclimated for certain jobs. I always chose legion for the ducts because he could hack and I figured he could handle the small environment.

IIRC, you have to use legion or Tali (engineers). Anyone else will die.

I'm asking because I have a 7 & 9 y/o.

My 4 year old son plays. He LOVES it! Gets so excited when we get a new character. He loves everything super heroes. Pretty much knows all their names. I didn't think hed be able to use the controller but I obviously underestimated him cuz he can play pretty much the majority of the game on his own. I just do the puzzles for him. We have so much fun together. Best $30 I ever spent.

Andy is 100% correct here. The genophage story HAS to be resolved with Mordin. It is the most emotional, well written part of the entire trilogy.
