Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (13 Viewers)

When you die, what do you lose in this game?  from what I can tell via twitch it does not looks like you lose "souls"  Are you losing items?

I know Amrita is used to level with but is that also used as the games currency?
Amrita is XP that you use to level up.  When you die, you lose that.  Like in Souls, it will be laying there waiting for you to pick up if you can make it back to where you died.

You also accumulate gold that you can use to buy and modify items.  Death doesn't affect your gold or any items in your inventory.  It's just Amrita/XP.

I'm gonna get a PS4 soon I think. Since they've announced a new Last of Us game eventually, it's inevitable I'll buy one and I really want to play Bloodborne and now possibly this Nioh game.

im hoping they have a PS4 slim bundle with the new MLB the show game soon.  I've seen an Uncharted 4 bundle for $250, but have no diesire to play that.

While waiting for the snow to accumulate in my driveway, I have been playing a bunch of Doom today.

I need some non spoilerish help.  I am very patient about making sure every inch of the map is colored out before moving on, but according to the stats in the map menu, I continue to miss "secrets" left and right.

What should I be looking for to find these secrets?  Do I need to hit wall to see if they disappear like Souls games etc?

Rainbow 6 Siege is still my favorite game. They just released another map and two new operators. Anyone know how longer they'll continue? I should've bought the season pass a year ago.
The two new operators are part of season 2, so my season 1 pass doesn't get them right away.  They're committed to going at least through the end of 2017 with another few batches of maps/operators. It's a great game.

Im starting to think they view it more as a counter strike type game where they just keep tweaking this original game over the years instead of coming out with R6 Siege 2.

That was true in the original Doom.  I don't know about the new one.

I would guess that the next one doesn't come out until after the new Xbox comes out.

At which point I think I will have to pick up a new Xbox. I would now but the PS4 should be good enough for a few more months.

The map is very helpful.  Make sure you are looking on the correct level

You need to find the map which shows all the secrets except the classic doom rooms. I had trouble finding all of them so I just Google those. There is one on each level.

So, about this time of year my buddies and I look for a game to play together over the summer on PS4. Looking for a recommendation. We prefer shooting games that require some cooperation. A good co-op story mode for up to 4 people is ideal, but not 100% required if the multiplayer is good enough. And while we have had fun with Cod and BF, our reflexes aren't quite like they used to be, so pure stick skill multiplayer like COD is pretty much out. (Although we are enjoying BF1 now)

Previous games we've played together:

Dead Island

Borderlands 2

Dying Light

Diablo III

The Division

And pretty much every COD and BF

Whatchu guys got?

Ghost Recon that comes out next month.

Dead Island: Riptide is a blast & Borderlands: The Pre Sequel is solid even if it can't live up to BL2 which may be my favorite co-op game of all time.

I am really excited about The Division but my PC won't run it and I am the only one in my group of co-op friends who has an X-Box one so I'm gonna have to wait on it for a while.

No story but Overwatch still a shooter but it's not a reflex/twitch shooter. I highly recommend this game.

With a story: The new Ghost Recon like @cockroach mentioned. Assassins Creed Unity, Dead Island: Riptide and Destiny support 4 player co op, I think. There's also the Borderlands Pre-Sequel.

I forgot about Dead Island: Riptide. We did play that one as well.

One of the biggest issues we seem to find is repetitiveness is not a good thing for most of the guys in our group. So the Dead island games, Dying Light and the Division all kind of got panned a bit. Even Borderlands 2 a bit.

Is Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel online multiplayer? For some reason I was under the impression that you could only play the multiplayer co-op split screen locally. That may be an option if you can do 4 player online coop, especially since we only had the base Borderlands2 game and could get the Handsome Collection with all of the DLC for both games for $30-40.

I think the story and fun characters helped with the repetitiveness in Borderlands. A little bit of the same for Dead Island: Riptide.

On PC BL: TPS is online 2-4 player co-op.

Not sure about consoles.

Anyone play FTL?

i bought it for $3 on my IPad. It's pretty cool but I can't seem to put fires out. I shut all the doors expecting it to smother the fire and it doesn't. I open the doors thinking maybe that works and it doesn't either.

You have to send people in to put it out.

Ok, caught that but the tutorial mentioned something different and I figured it out now. You can open the doors to the room up to space, which sucks the oxygen out. That worked. Then you close the doors back when it's out.

Making my way through but the I'm just hanging on right now.  Doubt I make it to the end of the galaxy or star system.

Yes, you can vent the areas to put out fires. Great game.  Had it forever on PC. Can usually get it for a couple of bucks on sale.

To find the old map areas, you need to find a yellow lever.  The others are pretty random. Just have to mess around in each area.

Okay, Nioh is not ####### about.  The bosses in this game are hard as hell.  I solo'ed everything in Bloodborne, but I am summoning people for these bosses without shame.  Even with two of us, we lose more often than not.

Far Cry 4 Primal question. Something seems amiss according to the internet and I hope it isn't going to bone me later:

Ok, first off, I can't see how you all do that spoiler thing? So if my tag isn't right maybe don't read below if you don't want a spoiler.

Mask of Krati. Everything I have read and every single youtube video I saw has the chick shooting you with an arrow when you grab the mask, and then you perhaps capture some dude and take him back to your cave later on. When I did the mission, I grabbed the mask, then slid over the edge and hung from a vine. I hid from her. She never saw me. Is that messed up? Because I never encountered another camp of captured anyone or anything. I just got the mask and made a clean getaway.

Ah, disregard. I found another video somewhere else that showed it going exactly as it had for me. But please, if anyone wants to let me know how to do the hidden content thing, please feel free!

System Shock 2 is one of the more unforgiving games I have played in a long time.  For a game that came out in 1999 it is incredibly expansive, I never expected so many maps and the story telling is amazing.  And the depth of training and abilities is staggering for that gen of games.  For the gameplay what really got me was the resource scarcity and the, at times, punishing amount of enemies they throw at you.  The Boss fight against The Many is brutal, although the showdown with SHODAN not so much if you have any ICE Picks.

Graphics are definitely stale, even if you use the many mods available but overall this is one of the best games I have played in awhile.  If you can handle very dated graphics, and a frustrating inventory system, I highly recommend jumping a playthrough.

Apparently there is talk of an SS3 which would be awesome, but I won't hold my breath.

Do that with no spaces in between. I think you just need to switch to the square brackets.

I'm kind of addicted to this at the moment...

I finally made it to the "Boss" spaceship on easy.  I didn't even make a dent on him, though.  I was scrambling the last three jumps just to get there and see what it looked like, but I was hurting.  I need to find a better way to do damage on ships with shields.  I tend to fly a defense drone and an attack drone, then just spam guns.  I try and hammer their shields first so my attack drone can start wreaking havoc, but its been tough.

A few things I haven't tried yet - I've yet to board another ship.  I've yet to try cloaking, and I haven't really messed with some of the laser guns.  I tend to just buy a lot of missiles at the outposts since they go through shields.

Very addicting game, and it lets me play while listening to podcasts which is perfect.  I can already tell this will be my goto game for my upcoming air travel for work.  I'd like to beat it once on easy, and then move up to normal.

RE: Path of Exile

Everyone was expecting them to announce a new act today to be included in the upcoming expansion.  Instead, they announced 10 new acts to be included in the upcoming expansion.   :excited:

https://www.pathofexile.com/oriath

Reminder, this game is free.
I am absolutely floored!

Note that it is 6 new acts on top of the current 4 acts they have, not 10 new, 10 total.

This company continues to just kick butt and their model simply works.  This is an incredible announcement for anyone who has played this game over the years.

Here is a direct link to the trailer, just scary good.

So how does PoE game play work? It looks like it is story driven but each players progress works independently so you can jump between party and solo play and still advance the story.  Is that about right?

That is correct.  You can play 100% solo, 100% co-op or a mix.

I was soooooo close on this last time. I actually raised my fist when the boss destroyer went down... and then it said "he's on the run, don't let him get away!!"  Onto phase two where I again raised my fist when the destroyer was taken down... and then it said "you've almost got him, take him down!!!"

At this point, my hull is hurting and my crew of 7 is now down to 2. The third battle was no bueno.

I do do feel like I've got a winning strategy moving forward so let's go again!!

Also, the game really isnt story based. It's loot and character progression based.  There is a story, it's just second fiddle like in Diablo.

This is very true.

Character progression is really the main focus of the game.

The story is really just a means to get to real fun which is end game.

Anybody play total war: Warhammer?

It's 33% off on steam right now.  I love strategy and total war so seems like a no brainer for me.  But wanted to hear any reviews

The rumors persist but the company has been bought and sold so many times I'm not holding my breath either.
