Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (5 Viewers)

Today I:

Finished up Valiant Hearts: The Great War.

-Wow, suprizingly long and enjoyable. Recommend this highly next time it's on sale.

Kingdom:New Lands

-Ive racked up over 6 days gametime playing this.

Dark Souls 3

-unbelievable! I have t played in months and on my very first try I killed Aldrich! (NG+3) earlier in this thread I think I posted that I was at the end game but I was wrong.  I think I put the game down because I thought I was going to have to level up a bunch of time before I could beat him.

I've watched a few reviews and it seems like a tactical version of Dynasty Warriors but competitive online. Does that sound right?
It's funny you say Dynasty Warriors. That's exactly what it reminds me of. I'm not a big fan of those games so this game doesn't look very good to me.

I was not feeling For Honor.   You have to constantly hold L1 which gets to be a pain while also constantly using that left thumb. Playing actual players might be easier than the AI, they were really tough at first.

What kills me is the right stick plus RB/RT for the attach and direction...plus blocking with the addition of LT. Add in the combos and it's hard AF.

Dang. Had this in my hands at Gamestop not to long ago and didn't pull the trigger.
It was one of the free PS+ games a while ago. I agree, it's a great game. The gameplay itself is nothing outstanding, but the story is fantastic and done in a really really good way. The ending is....Wow. One of the few games that leaves you sitting there thinking about it when it's over.

Zelda. I my guess would be that Horizon will have more bugs/patches off the hop.
HZD getting phenomenal reviews, some calling it a perfect game and a mix between far cry, shadow of mordor, assassin's creed, and the Witcher 3.

I've been reading reviews and it seems praise is being given just because of female leads. "Awe over the fact I have never seen so many kickass women in a first party big-budget game, much less this many people of color in key roles." That's a Kotaku quote and link. Kotaku is t the only one that makes mention of this either. It seems that some of the reviews are giving it points just for the female roles in the game. It just makes me think that some reviewers/outlets are just pushing up scores because of some social or political soapboxing.

I pre-ordered it on Amazon. It looks amazing. Going to blow right through it in 2-3 weeks easy.

Meantime I am replaying Until Dawn again and just love this game. Also just about done with Far Cry Primal (doing every side mission and trying for 100% completion). Also 100 hours into Skyrim remastered and about to finish Dawnguard. In between still in Italy on Hitman Season 1. Tough tough target!!!

In the que:

Dishonored 2

Deus Ex Mankind Divided

Valkyrie Chronicles Remastered

Mad Max

Looking forward to Mass Effect and MLB The Show 17 next month.

Excited for ghost recon. Looks like metal gear solid's open world with the division's Co op play. (Without the bullet spongy enemies)

You can now gamble while playing 'Frogger'

Konami has launched a version of Frogger that's suitable for gambling, which is now available to play in a casino. Frogger: Get Hoppin' is a skill-based title that enables players to wager money in exchange for testing their reflexes in the game. It's the first of its kind that's been authorized by Nevada's gambling commission in the hope of creating a new generation of gamblers.

George Costanza's gonna be all over this.

There's an app that does this with Tetris and a couple other games. It's called Sparcade. I'm not sure if they are exactly the same though.

Mods, please cross-post this in the gambling thread.

Anyone play Madden Draft Challenge?  I really like this mode :ps4:
I play it on Madden 16 (EA Access).  It's kinda addicting, but in Madden 16, it really didn't lead to anything like Ultimate Team does.  You just drafted a team and played to win 3 games.  I'm sure they improved it on 17 - at least I hope so.

Interesting.  I think I played this when I took my kids to Chuck E Cheese one day.  It was just one of those "win tickets to buy worthless crap" games.

Pre ordered zelda from amazon in January. I just got an email that the item is unavailable and they will email me then available. Does that mean I won't get it on release date? What's the point of pre ordering?

So they get your money early and earn interest on it. That was always the point.

I pre ordered the Switch from Target, they charged my CC and then yesterday I got an email saying my order has been cancelled.

So what does it take to get 100% on Far Cry: Primal? I have five cave paintings to go, maybe about the same number of rocks. Two more of the big critters to tame. But I haven't done any of the hunting quests. A bunch of undiscovered locations. Am I safe to assume that to get 100%, there can be noting left on the map? To be honest, going through these caves trying to find rocks and paintings is getting absolutely painful.

Middle Earth: Shadow of War (sequel to Shadow of Mordor) has been announced for Aug 22.  Seemed like a pretty surprise announcement because I hadn't heard anything about this game before and it's only about 6 months away.  Supposedly there are changes to the nemesis systems where the environment and forts will change based on your play.

Thought the last one was pretty enjoyable, so looking forward to the next installment.

Huh.  That kind of came out of the blue.

First game was pretty solid -- good, not great.  Seems like the kind of start that they could really build on.

I just played Shadow of Mordor for the first time in a while a couple weeks ago. Still holds up well and is still such a great timekiller because of the nemesis system. Really looking forward to this.

Yep.......It is a tedious task. I am giving up shortly. I got a ton of great times out of the game after 45 hours. It will be my favorite in the series thus far.

One thing I will do is replay it on the survival mode setting. When you die.....you die.

Horizon Dawn coming tomorrow. Looks incredible.
I'm busy with Nioh right now and I've still got a couple of games in the pipeline, but I'm looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.  This is the makers of Killzone moving into a completely different type of game, and the reviews have been extremely positive so far.  My expectations were very moderate, but it sounds like they did a good job.

My little brother bought a Vive VR and I tried it out. It was honestly a bit more immersive than I thought, but I'm not sure how much use I'd ever get from it.

Got about 5 hours of Horizon Zero Dawn in last night.  I was concerned that the controls would be wonky and I wouldn't be able to be the badass we've seen in all the trailers.  About 10 minutes into the game I was no longer worried.  The controls are super smooth and I feel like a legit hunter while playing.  To me this is a cross between Assassin's Creed and Skyrim but with better controls.  GOTY contender for sure.

Yes been watching a bunch on Twitch. Horizon is friggin beautiful. Like amazing detail on everything. The early story looks pretty good too. No idea what's going on but seems interesting. I might get this later in the year. Mass Effect will be taking up all my time in a couple weeks.

Man, I love some far cry, but I can't just get energized to buy this game.  I've only played 3 and 4, but I can't imagine the game without the full arsenal of guns that I love and just creating mayhem.  Everyone who plays it seems to love it, so maybe I just need to get it on a good sale and give it a try.
