The rumor we heard lines up with something Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune wrote today, indicating ESPN's John Clayton had mentioned that the Vikings had contacted the Redskins about Haynesworth. Although Redskins coach Mike Shanahan has said there have been no Haynesworth trade talks, most people believe that Haynesworth would be available.
What are the 'Skins looking for for this guy?

I am not a bbig NFC North fan, but would that result to the 3rd best DT in the division coming off the bench?

Pat's 37 and they already take him out on passing downs.

Maybe Pat Williams is part of the deal? Would he make a decent NT?

Good God, Aaron Rogers life is already in danger on pretty much every snap. This is all the Packers would need. If Suh and Hansworth enter the division the Packers had better be shoring up that O-line.

Everything I've heard is that they're looking for a 2nd for Big Al, but I'll be pretty ticked it they accept a 2nd as low as Minny's.

That was fast.

Not happening

We posted an item this afternoon about a report from ESPN's John Clayton that the Vikings had contacted the Redskins about disgruntled defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. Well, the stakes got raised a bit when Pro Football talk reported the Vikings were in"hot pursuit" of Haynesworth.

However, NFL sources continue to tell the Star Tribune that Haynesworth is not going to become a Viking. There is one interesting fact about Haynesworth's contract that would make him a potentially good pickup for someone, perhaps the Titans or Lions.

Washington has paid the defensive tackle $32 million, including a $21 million bonus earlier this month. That means Haynesworth is set to earn about $16 million over the next three years. That's a pretty good deal if Haynesworth is happy and, thus, productive.

Can someone please explain why the Redskins want to trade Haynesworth? After the big contract and hoopla of last year?

Ego struggle between Shanhan and Haynesworth. Haynesworth doesn't want to play nose tackle (for which he's not suited and I don't blame him). Jim Haslett for some unexplained reason is the Redskins new defensive coordinator, and he wants to run a 3-4 (for which the Redskin roster is not suited at present) and wants Haynesworth to play some of the time at nose tackle. Haynesworth did not show for voluntary workouts, which Shanahan considers mandatory, because he's training elsewhere. Shanahan's basically pissed and trying to win a war of wills.

Of course all of this is just PURE RUMOR. These scum-bag rumor-mill "SOURCES" really come out of the wood work right around draft time every year.

The Haynesworth trade to the Vikings was a rumor. What I posted about why the Redskins want to get rid of him has been pretty obvious from what Haynesworth, Haslett, and Shanahan have said, what local reporters have said, and from statements leaked to the press by the Redskin front office.
