Vikings/Chiefs Game Thread (1 Viewer)

He looked pretty motivated at the end of last year, yet they still brought in Rosenfels.
That's how I saw it too. Jackson showed some serious improvement last year, but they still brought in Rosenfels. Now he looks sharp in pre-season, Favre looks god awful, now of course it's pre-season, and Favre is rusty--but it's lame he's playing good and the odd man out. Favre wouldn't be rusty if he had been a man and come to camp.
Well said. I'm sure Favre will settle in and do fine. I just don't understand Minn's treatment of a young QB who they KNEW was going to be a project--hell, finding a development guy was the point, according to Childress--and seemed like he was starting to put things together in his third year. You'd think they woulda been happy.Nice rope to Reynaud there. I'm glad to see Jackson has some fight in him.
Which contract is more prohibitive to cut, Tarvaris or Sage? They may be more inclined to try to trade Sage than outright cut Tarvaris.
Tarvaris is a FA at the end of the season. You don't resign a 3rd string QB to an extension.

Tahe hasn't looked great at FB... any chance the Vikings look at Lorenzo Neal? Even as old as he is, he's gotta be a better blocker
childress is an idiot.... that is alleta: ment to respond to " why is AP still in the game"

Jackson's stats were good but I don't think he played any better than he did at times last season. I know that sounds unnecessarily mean but some of his big gains were on very poor throws - this "jumping on one foot" thing isn't something that he's ever going to stop, I guess.

It's also difficult for me to think of a team which would want/need him even if he is "better" than many current backup QBs. St. Louis?

Jackson throws the ball after he is 4 yards past the line of scrimage, Vikings punt.
Just like Cassel did in the 1st quarter-somehow even after the booth review the officials missed it. Really had the TV crew scratching their heads. I guess they(officials) need some preseason work also.

Jackson will never be a QB1 in this league and is a serious liability as a QB2. Having seen every pass he's ever thrown in the NFL, I have seen very little improvement from his rookie year. Flashes are all he's shown. Flashes are all he will ever show. I hope they get what they can from this wasted reach of a pick.

No, Cassel threw the ball from the 36 -- which was the LOS. It was marginal, and their call made it an obvious non-change. Turd, however, was literally five yards past the LOS.

Cassel looks really good so far.
Yeah, Cassel is impressive, but that OL is utter garbage. He's extremely mobile but he can't run for his life all year.
LJ bustin out an 18 yrd run
The only shred of daylight he's seen. You know, I've thought LJ is undervalued, but this OL is so damn bad that he'll struggle this year.
I think once teams start to respect the passing game, he might see a little more open running lanes. Then again, that should have happened last year too.
Cassel has Bowe and Gonzo. LJ is undervalued at this point.

I didn't catch much of the game and I might've had too much to drink, but I swear I think saw Tavaris looking really good last night.

I don't know if it was QB beer goggle, or 2nd string Chief defender goggles, or if maybe he's showing improvement.

I Tivo'd the game, so I need to go back and watch this.

If he is improving, this Favre thing could be a good thing. It'd be the first year that his role is clearly defined. Maybe knowing his role and not playing the "who's starting this week" game could allow him to just be able to focus improving as a QB.

Tavaris did NOT look good last night. He held onto the ball way too long and missed open receivers. His mobility saved him from being sacked, but he has to be the least popular QB with the Vikings offensive line. I'd be pissed if I had to hold my blocks that long.

As good of a time as any.Well, they were not holding their blocks that long early on either (or any of the last few years).Brett found out last night with only 4 passes and getting hit twice that the Vikings Oline is great run blocking...but not great pass blocking.I don't blame Brett for looking rusty. Just came in a few days ago, not enough time to work with these guys.I blame Childress for rushing him out there...and it was obviously done for the business reason of getting fans excited too (too funny with some of them...probably the same fans that said he was washed up and sucked for years).
