Does anyone have any insight on what the Vikings QB situation will be like next year?
Yikes! Thx for the news, AD.There has been nothing in the local papers. On the surface, they're still planning on going into the season with Jackson & Bollinger. Which I personally think is a terrible plan, but then again, I'm the guy that wants to fire Childress after year 1.
Not Brad JohnsonDoes anyone have any insight on what the Vikings QB situation will be like next year?
He is definitely the best FA option. I would welcome his signing.I'm not as high on Jackson as most, and if Brady Quinn were to slip to the Vikings at #7, I would be disappointed if they didn't select him.Jeff Garcia would be a nice player for them (for a year or two). He knows the offense and he can help groom Jackson on the finer points of playing the WCO.
I doubt the price is going to be right. Falcons are expected to give Shcaub the highest possible tender. They have made every effort to hold on to him in the past, and that sentiment is probably even stronger considering Vick's latest schenaigans. They were interested in Schaub last year, so maybe they still are if the price is right.
You're probably right, but I'm also pretty sure that Schaub is sick of playing 2nd fiddle.I doubt the price is going to be right. Falcons are expected to give Shcaub the highest possible tender. Garcia is one of those signing that seems to make perfect sense, and thus it won't happen.Childress, doesn't strike me as all that bright so I don't think he'll see the brilliance of signing a player with experience in his system (outside of a supreme talent like Bollinger) so I'd guess he'll just sign the cheapest veteran he can to bring to camp.I disagree on Jackson, and I think he has potential. Peyton Manning and Ben Roethlisberger aside, I think recent history has shown that while you need a good QB to suceed, you don't have to draft him at the top of the first round. I think there would be a much higher impact player on the board for them than a Brady Quinn. He is definitely the best FA option. Childress seems like he could end every sentence with "you dumb-###." He thinks he's the smartest guy in the room at all times. If he got into a room with Dan Barriero (local radio guy), I wonder what would happen. Glad to know I'm not alone in my bashing.Garcia is one of those signing that seems to make perfect sense, and thus it won't happen.Childress, doesn't strike me as all that bright so I don't think he'll see the brilliance of signing a player with experience in his system (outside of a supreme talent like Bollinger) so I'd guess he'll just sign the cheapest veteran he can to bring to camp.
I don't. But I'm not willing to go to war over it either.I disagree on Jackson, and I think he has potential. What are Not Brad Johnson's cap numbers and is there talk of extending him?Not Brad JohnsonDoes anyone have any insight on what the Vikings QB situation will be like next year?
Brad Johnson is under contract through 2008 at 1.1M a year - not sure what his signing bonus was though. His cap number should be pretty small. Let him retire...What are Not Brad Johnson's cap numbers and is there talk of extending him?Not Brad JohnsonDoes anyone have any insight on what the Vikings QB situation will be like next year?![]()
Bad blood between Childress & BJ since the former benched the latter twice in-season. Johnson won't be extended. What are Not Brad Johnson's cap numbers and is there talk of extending him?![]()
Not a Viking fan but I would agree with you. You always want a first year coach to finish stronger that they started. After starting 2-0, in the last 6 weeks Minn. went 2-6 beating only Det. and AZ.There has been nothing in the local papers. We're on totally the same page as far as Childress. My additional worry is this, if Childress didn't trust BJ enough to let him audible, how much is he going to stiffle the development of a young QB? How good can a Jackson, or even a Quinn be, and how can they learn, if their one and only choice is to call the unimaginative play called by the coach?Childress seems like he could end every sentence with "you dumb-###." I'll be shocked if it's not Jackson.
