Vince McMahon to make major announcement later today (1 Viewer)

Always good to start a sports league when sports viewership is declining...
I think that's the point of him doing it.  Those people are there and looking for something else.  Obviously they are going to try and pick up that lost viewership and more.  I doubt it works but I see what he's trying to do.

That may be his model player right there.  Sounds to me that he's trying to cater to the older white male with this platform.
I agree that he could be the face of the XFL. From a talent perspective, I could absolutely see him poaching college and juco kids who are good but not quite NFL good if he wants to really make a go of this.

Watching the announcement it's obvious they're going to try to compete with the NFL by addressing every problem disgruntled NFL fans have with the NFL. Standing for the anthem, concussions, players breaking the law, length of game, just to name a few. I think he sees declining NFL ratings as an opening to get some of the market share. The old XFL was supposed to be salacious, hard hitting, over-the-top entertainment whereas this version is almost the opposite of that. What's interesting is I think even though the league is doing a 180 from 15+ years ago he's likely shooting for the same fanbase.

Going to have to allow kids straight out of high school a chance to play instead of going through college.  Would be huge for young players to take advantage to go pro right away while they are young and healthy instead of letting the NCAA profit off them.  Would be a way for him to get better talent too.

Was weird to hear his new plan.  Completely opposite of his last venture.  No outrageous stuff.  No criminals.  No half naked women.  Mentioned that they will know what a catch is.

Yep, this is what I was trying to say but you nailed it. Really interested to see how this plays out.

If he was smart he would address the xfl to Trump supporters.  Make some team names really racist so they can be villains.  Fighting is encouraged.  Players can get drunk.  Cheerleaders are also strippers.  Every once in awhile have a player get run over by a nascar car.  Monster trucks that blow up at half time.  Extra points if you kick a guy in the groin

it would make tons of money
Like that movie Baseketball. I'm in!

I think it's pretty obvious who he's trying to appeal to.

According to McMahan he won't be able to play in his league.  Can't have a police record or something like that.  I'm not sure how he's going to find enough players for a league with that rule.
Wow, thought McMahon would encourage a police record.

One of the biggest problems with the games in the XFL was the QB's.  When Tommy Maddox was their top guy, they were in trouble.  The NFL doesn't have enough capable QB's so that problem is unlikely to go away.  The only way they have a chance to be interesting is if they take on the NCAA for players.  If it run more like a NFL feeder system, at least for the foreseeable future, they could get kids that don't want to go to college or at least get paid more than Alabama would pay them.  They could also get the JT Barrett, Cardale Jones, Braxton Miller, or Tim Tebow types to go after they are done playing school.

The best result of the announcement may be that he has too little time to worry about the main product. The worst result is that he tries to micromanage both anyway.

Agree the only way they can put on a viable quality product is if they tailor their rules to encourage spread/read option offenses to get the sort of talented, but not NFL "system" guys.  If they go the NFL "protect the QB" route to prevent concussions and encourage QB pocket play, they are going to shoot themselves in the foot.  There just aren't enough talented guys around who can do that.  They have to figure something out to solve the lack of talent in the QB position.

It's going to be mighty difficult to compete with the NFL. But, if he's innovative enough (for even a year or two) the NFL is going to love this. I'm thinking things like GPS in the footballs to eliminate the chain gang and the like. Hell he mainstreamed the sky cam and the NFL graciously stole that.

Whether it's sustainable is a different discussion.

The fact that he already has his own network is a great start.

I disagree. Look at college systems. Lots of wide open offences. I think this is more likely to be a lot more similar to CFB with relatively high player turn over. Which means those Air Raid type of college systems will be viable. There’s lots of “good” college QBs.

Any word on whether he'll have drug testing?  Without drug testing, you'll get some awesome NFL players who are on suspension.

Also, I find it hilarious how Vince refers to players standing for the anthem as a long tradition, even though it wasn't compulsory until 2009. But sure, good job proving you don't want politics in your league by citing the single most divisive political issue in sports over the last decade.

Google Vince McMahon texts if you want a fun ride down the wrong side of the slide :oldunsure::shock:

Crazy thing is how he seems to think she's totally into it. Like he's turning her on by sending it. Classic meathead dude that watches the world's nastiest video on pornhub and is like "this must be what all women like!".

I feel like Vince went over and above. I can't get my head around how you perform some of that stuff whilst "things" are going on but it's a level of depravity that I hope only few aspire to. And I'm a depraved reprobate looking at his body of work saying, "dude..."

So I was talking to a few people I know in the know as well as reading stuff. Sounds like more women might come forward. tko/Endeavor who own WWE and UFC won’t let anything slide. Those close to Vince still working are now worrying. Ari Emmanuel doesn’t screw around and he’s gonna clean house of anyone who’s associated with Vince.

As for his family Linda knew of his cheating for yrs. His relationship with son Shane has gone downhill as Shane over the yrs was disgusted with his father’s behavior cheating on his mother and several times according to reports tried to stop stuff he saw in the office. Shane left as he didn’t want to become his father.

As for Stephanie and her husband Paul Lesvesque aka Triple H not sure what the extent they knew but Paul did vote for Vince to be off the board and kicked out. There’s some talk about Hunter maybe having skeletons as well as NDAs but nothing really concrete yet.

Janel grant the victim here lawyer has said more women have come forward. This won’t go away anytime soon. It was pretty appealing and sickening reading what was done here honestly.

As for John Laurinitiss he was a right hand man and when signing women had like a casting couch type interviews with girls. It’s being reported now that former WWE women’s wrestler Ashley Massaro who committed suicide a few yrs ago was one of the victims of John and. I ce.

As for the wrestler involved it’s Brock Lesnar. He’s been removed from any creative plans as well as promotional and some games. During the Royal rumble they do a HH the numbers ad of highest eliminates, most appearances etc and Lesnar was completely removed from it.

No word on who else could be involved at this point. I will say most of the wrestling world isn’t shocked by the news of Vince but more shocked at the actual actions done here. People wondered when. Vince’s day would arrive and now it’s here.
