You. I want to hear from you. After that Rose Bowl a few years ago, you had Vince Young as basically re-writing all of the records books.
Ahhh...really?Care to quote me on that?

Post #34 - Implying that Phil Simms is an idiot for not recognizing the obvious greatness that is Vince Young.I see a lot of back and forth about Young there, but nothing akin to "VY will basically re-write all of the records books". Where was that again? BTW, you probably didn't notice in that thread where I said he wasn't ready to start, & needed to be a backup and just learn...or you probably did, but that wouldn't support your idiotic premise.

Post #6 - Implying that drafting VY = Championship team.
LOL. I guess you never bothered to read the articles linked. If you had, you'd probably understand that the reference was to Houston Chronicle sportswriter John McLain maybe not being that over the top because he was cautioning Houston fans not to think the team was necessarily going to draft the guy they wanted them to.

Post #24 - I guess VY is the only QB in history that can allegedly go through all his progressions and then take off running.
OK, you get that from this? " He went through all of his reads unless under a heavy rush, which was rare due to his excellent protection. THEN, if nobody was open he'd go, because he, unlike most other QBs, has that ability."
Seriously? Stretch much? Did you notice the qualifiers in there, like UNLESS and MOST? It's not like I said the guy invented the concept of the mobile qb.

Post #38 - VY = Roger Staubach. An insult to Staubach, the Navy, the Cowboys and Canton.
It was an honest opinion. Too bad if you don't like it. It was just a reflection of his style and the way he'd been used up to that point. His style reminded me of Staubach's. Perhaps you missed the end of the thread, though...
cstu: "I just hope you aren't thinking that VY will light the league on fire in his first couple years.
me:
"Nope.
Never said that.
In fact, I hope he's not even in a position to do so. I want him to sit one or two years. Almost any qb who is thrown to the wolves is in for trouble."
I'm a huge fan of Staubach's and was an alternate to attend the USNA. You think I've insulted the Naval Academy or Staubach or Canton with an offhand internet comment? That's pretty stupid.

Post #8 - Your VY NFL love affair is openly commented on by others.
I opened that thread with "I'm not saying he's ready to start. I never say that about any rookie QB. I don't think these guys are saying that either. Every rookie QB has his place...on the pine." It was about some ex-pros' and other analysts' thoughts on VY's readiness for the pros. What does that have to do with "breaking records"? Still looking for that.

Post #54 - OK, so I guess VY isn't in prison.
Still looking.
I could go on. Also, you're damned lucky that Rose Bowl thread didn't survive the purge. I'm willing to give up some of that Rose Bowl thread on the grounds that your blood was up after the game. But come on.
I'm so lucky? Really? Ooooh...Easy there, Francis.
I don't remember a post Rose Bowl thread...honestly. I remember the pre-Rose Bowl thread...the one where everyone was telling me what an idiot I was for daring to even suggest it would be a good game, and that both teams would score a lot of points, which was all I suggested. They told me what an even bigger idiot I was when I told them specifically how Texas would score on USC.
So I ask you again.
You asked me something before?
Funny...I only remember you calling me out with baseless accusations while I minded my own business.
Explain why potential > reality with Vince Young.
Well, gee whiz, since you asked so nicely...obviously VY's not playing well right now, and appears to need some work on his outlook at this point. Anyone can see that. He's learning a new system and has very poor wr talent surrounding him (McCareins...starter...cut by the Jets...dropped a deep ball today that hit him in the hands). Anyone who's being honest can see that. They drop lots of easy balls, don't make plays on balls that most NFL wrs would, and don't consistently adjust their routes on blitzes. Of course he threw some bad balls today, but that first INT was on a blitz, and the safety was able to get under the route because it was not broken off. However, he had a couple of nice deep balls flat out dropped today, and on the play where he hurt his knee Scaife dropped one right in his hands that was a big gainer. He had two people deep between him and a TD.
They aren't playing to his strengths or diminishing his weaknesses, yet, but I think Dinger knows this, and is moving to fix it. Obviously, Young's not a prototype NFL QB, but his game can be very effective if you let him play it. If the field is not opened up with deep threats that can also block downfield when called upon, his effectiveness can be reduced tremendously. If the defense knows that the Titans receiver corps is so bad that the field is always 20 yards deep, they can shut Young down...but couldn't you say that about most qbs?
Sometimes he has an average day and the wrs make it look bad. Sometimes they make his bad day look awful or his good day look average. When, though, have they made a bad day look average, an average day look good, or a good day look great for VY? Indeed, his qbs almost always degrade people's perception of Young's performance, no matter what kind of day he actually had. They take it down another notch, not up. How many qbs in the NFL so rarely get a lift from their receivers?
Sure, I've defended the guy, and he's played great at times (ROY... musta done something right) and badly at times. Obviously, he still has to prove himself at this level, but I think it's easy for a lot of people to forget this is just the 1st game of his third year and that he got only 3 games of pine time before being named the starter. Here's the thing, though...the thing I've never understood...something about this guy pisses off his detractors intensely, even when he was doing well his rookie year. Even in college. I just don't get it.
At any rate, Young got booed at Texas, too, before getting it all turned around. I know one thing. I won't count him out.
Oh yeah,
in six the six threads you dug up I never saw that "breaking records" quote either, Captain Hyperbole. If anything, you only disproved your own point.
