Vince Young (1 Viewer)

Young had 10 pts in my league this weekend in limited time. With 1 QB being traded, anyone think he can put up Vick like numbers once the team gives him the reins?

if your a fan of him then i would suggest u hope the Titans hold back the reigns with him and let him sit and watch/absorb the game and have ample time to learn the system there.

its alot better then being thrown into the fire imo.

i like Vince ALOT and for FF i think he has thru the roof potential much like Culpepper had back in the Minny days however i dont want them to just throw the kid to the wolves. i would like for him to be intergrated in slowly ala Rivers. (atleast sit for a year)

that team doesnt have all world talent at the skill positions either. i'd like for atleast 1 of those potential WR's to step up this season and become a go to guy for him, we all know that drafting a WR next year for the titans will probably take a few seasons to provide dividens so that could stall Vince's value somewhat too.

If Vince is the starter, he should be a decent fantasy play in leagues that give 6 points for rushing TD's and 1 point per 10 yards rushing. As a full time starter, I'd expect him to average 40-60 yards rushing and maybe .5 rushing TD's per game. Throw in some passing yards and the occasional passing TD, and he could easily score you 12-18 points per week (despite likely INT's and fumbles) with potential for higher. One good thing is that even in blowout losses, I'd still expect Vince to play the whole game and get some garbage time stats. They will be looking to get him experience regardless of the score.

I would not be shocked to see Vince start against Dallas in week 4, though I would also not be shocked to see him not get a start until week 8 vs. Houston. Personally, I think it will be sooner than that though. One or two more ugly losses, and the Titans will have nothing to lose by putting Vince in, and the fans in Nashville are already wanting to see him now that Volek has been ostracized and Collins stinks.

Vince young looked at least as good as Collins, IMO, but keep in mind that all of his production in week two came in garbage time against second stringers.

Young got a series in the first half against the first team defense and got the same results as Collins -- nada.

There were still quite a few of SD's starters in on Vince's TD drive, including Merriman who chased him down on the 4th and 10 play, though Vince got 12 yards and the first down on the scramble. They really wanted the shutout. Starters were all out on the last drive though when he got it inside the 10 but ran out of time.

Collins will start week 3.

Vince will get a series or two or more depending on how the game plays out. If Collins has another bad day, Vince has a shot at starting in week 4 at home against Dallas.

For a rookie QB I always say 1 year sitting is worth 2 years starting. May not be right but I always say it to sound smart.

As long as your league doesnt penalize too badly for fumbles lost and INTs, Young may be a viable fantasy QB.
I'm not so sure yet. Right now, teams aren't gameplanning him. If he were to be announced the starter, they would. I think he would end up like Vick in the early years but maybe without the upside. There would be games he would have enough stats to make him a viable starter and there will be others that he throws for 59 yards and no TDs. Much like Vick, people get excited by the potential of huge rushing yards, but for now at least, Young will be inconsistent as hell. While there will be weeks where he doesn't lose your game, I don't think he'll have many (or any) where he'll win it for you.

Conspiracy theory time.Is Kerry Collins being paid to suck? Is he being incented to suck to get Young in the lineup quicker?Consider the fact pattern:- TN drafts Young #3 overall and reports are that that was a management move (not Fisher or Chow)- Fisher and Chow are in not rush to get Young in the starting lineup and annoint Volek a starter and follow through on that all through pre-season- Regular season time, bring in Collins and drop Volek to #3. He will never see the field now.- Collins then proceeds to suck terribly (a rating of 27 through 2 games)- Management ships Volek off to SD limiting the coaches options furtherNow, the coaches are lefty with a crappy Collins near the end of his career and a young vibrant prospect that has a lot of learning to do. But, Collins' crappiness is unusual - completion percentage of 40%, rating of 27, no TDs and 4 INTs. It's like it is written in his contract to blow...like he has an incentive based on how quickly he can get Young in the starting lineup (e.g. $1mm by week 4, $750m by week 5, etc.).Is TN management orchastrating all this to force the coaches to have no other option but play Young?Fisher will probably ask for one more vet QB and management will bring in Jeff George, then Fisher will get the picture and play Young...say week 6? :D :banned:

:goodposting: I love it! You can usually fool at least 50% of the people just by sounding smart. Those people are not as smart as you sound!
