Simple question.

I may be late to the party, but Vince has looked HORRIBLE this pre-season. The Titans can probably still win 8 games on their defense and running game, especially if CJ3 plays well, but their ring leader is just not playing well. I had thought he'd improve with Dinger in, but he appears to be regressing even more than last year - if that's possible.

(still better than Leinart)

I'm kind of hanging onto the window of the bandwagon. Have VY in a league (where my other qbs are bulger and Jason Campbell)...

the rest of my team is pretty insane tho.

"He's just a winner..."

I think there were serious questions that were never suitably answered about Vince AND Leinart before the draft, and those questions got pooh-pooh'd by people in love with their exciting final years.

It is too early to call on both of them, but the time is coming when it is NOT too early to say. Vince to step up in a big way this year, and not in leadership, or intangibles, or decision-making. He needs to step up as a passer. you can make all kinds of moves with your feet, but you can't live on that in the NFL. At some point, you have to drop back, and fire a 15 yard out. At some point, you need to thread the needle, and make plays with your arm. And at some point, you have to put the ball in a place where the WR can make something happen after the catch. This last skill is where I really think Vince needs work. He will complete a pass, but rarely do I see him lead a guy so he catch it in stride and make a move.

Young apologists can blame the WRs all they want, but if you watch Vince, it isn't him making great throws, and WRs letting him down play after play, although that happened last year. I saw a lot of open guys that Vince missed, and a lot of plays where the receiver could have made a big play, but had to stop or adjust because of a poorly thrown ball. Improving accuracy in that way is really tough, some QBs are just accurate, and some are not.

OFF...

Tavaris Young thread should explain...

Should Young work his passing game....automatically rejoins top 20....

Return of rushing yards will be a major plus

never was on the `Kordell Stewart v2.0` bandwagon to begin with..

I'm on the Kerry Collins bandwagon right now...

VY won't start all 16 games this season, he's going to be benched at some point...he might be lucky to start 5 games in 2008..

both he and Leinart have proven to be busts so far, and I'd add Bush to that but at least he produces somewhat..

He's my 3rd behind Ben and Garrard, so I'm not overly worried about him from a "I can't win if he doesn't succeed" perspective, but it is becoming a question of whether I should trade him or not.

There is or was a Vinnie Young bandwagon? I mean there was that hairyscotsman or someone like that but he was just blinded by his homerism of Young.

Vinnie won't be around much longer. 2-3 years more of pain in Tennessee before they give up on this 'never was'.

Yes...he must improve some for sure...and be more consistent.

But if you want an idea on how this team will be patient with him.

Look at McNair's stats his first 3 years as a starter.

8-8

8-8

9-2 (int he games he played)

58.7 was the highest completion percentage he had.

Was around a 15 TD 11 INT guy for those 3 years.

And he was a solid NFL QB for the Titans.

He will never put up Favre or Brady or even McNabb numbers. Its not the team's style really.

I drafted him as a backup and have had concerns ever since. He has not looked good and I am not sure if he will this year. I am hoping that he shows some type of promise so I can trade him away...oh well; we all make mistakes on draft day (especailly when it is in early August).

:goodposting: Any talk of Young being benched is silly(even if Young deserves it) I think Young will be a good QB, he was supposed to be a project, he'll never be a 4000 yard 30 TD guy, but he can be a 3000 yard 16 TD guy with another 600-6 on the ground. If he can cut the INT's down to 10-12 and his rushing numbers bounce back, he could easily be startable in fantasy leagues.

My attitude is the same it's always been. Until he shows some potential throwing the football, he's not worth anything more than a late QB2 flyer in dynasty.

His career is looking a lot like Vick's. A dynamic athlete who was able to dominate in college almost by virtue of his legs alone. Decent first season as a starter thanks largely in part to flashy plays running with the football. Hailed as the next big thing entering his second NFL season. Shows little sign of progressing as a passer. Value begins to slide as people realize that you don't draft a running back as your quarterback.

To his credit, it doesn't help that the Titans have had atrocious receivers during his first two seasons. He would benefit greatly from a good YAC receiver like Owens or Boldin. Hindsight is 20/20, but they really should've grabbed Bowe in the draft last year.

I was on the bandwagon for two years. Decided this year that the Matt Shaub bandwagon would have a smoother ride.
:goodposting: I was definitely on the bandwagon last year when I projected out a lot of rushing yards and TDs.But now, even those don't look to be nearly enough to compensate for 140 yards passing every week.

And Houston was butally beaten up by the media and message boards for taking Mario Williams. It shows just how little all these experts know. I haven't heard one of them apologize to Houston for calling them out in the National Media.

Define "bandwagon."

At the current cost of a guy not being fdrafted in the first 12 rounds I'm "on." Not sure I'd call that a bandwagon so much as a possible great bargain. He's one of few players who could go from afterthought to stud status. His compl % did improve from 51% to 63% last season, which is a good sign. Also, he's getting used to a completely new offense this preseason. Any QB who is a rushing threat can't be ignored like this guy is heading into this season.

 I was on, but he needed to be better than this by now for me to stay on. I'm off - he's not a good passer and doesn't seem to be developing into one.

No who else doesn't look so good right now? Norm Chow.

:lmao: Mike Heimerdinger is the offensive coordinator... Chow left after last season. Heimerdinger did a good job helping Steve McNair develop, so I'm keeping an eye on how he might help Vince Young.

The bandwagon generally wasnt whether he'd be a fantasy god, most people on the bandwagon thought he'd be a quality NFL starter. As of this point, he's pretty damn close. The teams winning percentage under him is good, but he needs to protect the ball better. Despite being in one of the toughest divisions in football, they made the playoffs last year and will probably hit .500 or better this year too.

He's got a long way to go to be a fantasy stud, though there will be games and stretches where he's just that, but I somewhat doubt that the football people in Tennessee are nearly as close to cutting him loose as the FF community.
