Vincent Jackson Rushing (1 Viewer)

Anyone else have trouble understanding why Vincent Jackson didn't have any negative rushing yards in the boxscore?

First play of the game, and Jackson comes around for a reverse, there is a fumble, he picks it up, but subsequently loses 6 more yards. In went into the official play by play as a recovery for Jackson -6 yards. My fantasy site (CBS) didn't recognize any negative yards for his yardage totals, just 54 yards for his receptions in the game. I don't know about you, but that's a difference of 1 point, 1 which could actually decide our league (still undecided yet in my league, but very close).

The official boxscore has it in the "Fumbles" section, and not a part of the rushing totals. Do you mean to tell me if someone picks up a fumble, and then runs it in for a touchdown, let's say 80 yards (i.e. plenty of fantasy points), that that player doesn't get credit for any rushing yards???? Do any of you out there have rules to include yardage from fumbles? In my opinion, any yardage from fumbles SHOULD BE included in a players total stats.

You do not get any credit for yards after picking up a fumble. That's the first thing. Second, you don't get negative points for negative yardage, i.e. -10 rushing yards does not equal -1 fantasy point. All negative yards do is go into the calculation of total yards. Did VJax rush for 0 yards and then fumble for a 6 yard loss? If so, the stats are correct.

No, but reducing his total from 54 to 48 yards is a difference of 5 versus 4 points in most fantasy formats. Negative rushing is accounted for in most normal fantasy formats

Uh, yeah. It's just Fumble Return Yardage. Been like that from the beginning. Every year there is a thread explaining it.If Jackson would have scored a TD, it would NOT have been counted as a Rushing TD. It would have been a Fumble Recovery TD.

You talking about reducing his receiving yards by his negative rushing yards. They are two totally different categories. They have nothing to do with each other for the purposes of fantasy scoring. You can only reduce rushing yards by negative rushing yards. And from your description, it sounds like he never even had negative rushing yards. It sounds like he rushed for no gain, fumbled, and recovered the fumble for negative yards. Fumble recoveries are not rushes.

If you wanted to get super-technical, you could give Jackson -0.6 points for the Fumble Return Yardage -- but you should do that ONLY if your league ALREADY has a rule that accounts for Fumble Yards.
