I thought that this deserved its own thread and should be left out of the game thread.

Vinny Testeverde is now playing QB for the New England Patriots at 43 years old. God, what has this world come to?

Think about all the 40 year old boxers that try to make comebacks this is normal compared to that. Plus Vinny will never remove the pen out his clipboard....... :lmao:

And in other news, the United States has landed on the moon.

Rumor around here is that the Pats are bringing in veteran NFL quarterbacks to get rings before Manning. Vinny won the draft and got picked first, next year it will be Marino.

Word is more that they want a veteran around the locker room and in meetings for Tom to run things by...

agreed...and with injuries, they finally had room to bring in a third QB. I wonder if they asked Flutie first to see if he would come back?

I also read somewhere that Vinny was interested in getting into coaching and was taking the #3 QB role to be around Belichick and to pick his brain.

This is after Brady was pulled for Cassel.

Do they think they're doing him a favor or is it $$$ for Vinny's pocket if he officially gets in a game?

Is there any good reason for this?

I can't imagine what benefit it is to anyone to put him in the game to take a knee and take a knee only. It's not like Cassel can't do that, yet this is the second game in which they did this.

How old was Vince Evans and Steve Deberg last time they played?

DeBerg was 44 and had been retired for 5 years. Evans was 40. Flutie was 43. Blanda was 44 the last time he saw regular action as a QB, although he threw 3 passes at age 48.

They wanted to get Testaverde a TD pass because it would be his 20th consecutive NFL season in which he threw a TD pass.
