Visited Austin for Vacation - 5 Stars (1 Viewer)

On The Rocks

The wife's sister lives in Dripping Springs just outside of Austin, so we had a chance to visit someplace that I never would have gone to had there not been a family connection.

As a photography hobbyist, this town has a lot going on!

Great food, great music, great people watching.

While there we visited Zilker Park, Barton Springs, The Bats at Congress St. Bridge, and also took day trips to Fredericksburg and San Antonio; not mention South Congress Ave and the Sixth St. in the downtown are open all day and all night.

If you're looking for a place to visit - some place different and out of the way from the long list of run of the mill other places like Disney, D.C., NYC, or any other coastal or mountain region getaway locations, Austin is a great place to add to the list. Maybe not so much if you're toting little children around everywhere you go - but pretty good with a lot of activity options eveb if you have children age 12 and up.

I love Austin, I used to live there. 6th Street at night doesn't appeal to much to me, never did, but the people and town and Central Texas are beautiful. I go typically once a year.

Damn I miss good Mexican food.

If anyone is interested in a 15 bedroom house with a commercial kitchen as a vacation home, I know a guy.

 at this post. Not really a secret or off the map destination....maybe 20-30 years ago. Glad you enjoyed it.
