W3 Injury Report (1 Viewer)

Pennington INT in OT was direct result of not having the arm strength it looked like. Threw an out that just floated.

J
About how many passes did he throw after coming back in?Was there a definite difference in the way he was throwing the ball afterwards?

Pennington has had girly arm all year because of the rotator cuff surgery. He wasn't fit when he finally came back and there was A TON of speculation that the Jets deliberately downplayed the severity to begin with. This shoould be a nice "COACHSPEAK" topic. Pro Football Talk had a lot of coverage on it.

You think the blow injured and rehurt the arm? Penny's not been effective anyways so far with the arm and the new OC's system calls for longer pass plays, which even when healthy Pennington hasn't thrived at. They've really, really struggled.

Even if Penny can so to speak, play, get on the field, I wonder if Fiedler, if he wasn't seriously injured, would perform better for the Jets and become the starter. Hey, like baseball, if the starter stinks it up, he gets yanked. If Fiedler will help the team win and Pennington causes the team to lose I would see no other option.

Jay is not Dan Marino but I happen to think he's a lot better than people give him credit for. He's got talent and the supporting cast there in NY, Coles, McCareins, Chrebet, plus coupla TE's is pretty good. Plus, the offensive system is a little more pass oriented than Miami's Ricky Williams - Wannestedt ultra conservative, power rushing attack which he played in. They had some nice playmakers in Chambers + McMichael but they were certianly misused. McMichael as an in line blocker frequently rather than what Saban is doing with him now, moving him around like the Chief's do with a fleet footed Gonzo. McMichael begged to be able to do this. And there's no way a stud WR like Chambers would come in under 1,000 yards on any team but Wannestedt's Dolphins. Fiedler got dogged because he was a 150 yard passer in Miami but he could start for some teams in the NFL.
I'd say he looked 15% less than he did in the first quarter. The big problem is that in the first Q he showed barely marginal arm strength. This is a problem.
Hey Joe  Went back and cleaned this up some. Runs a lot nicer after the edit. Thanks for the opinion.15% less on an arm that was maybe 80% to begin with could be Very Meaningful.

:stalker: Guys, sharing anything you happen to get on Chad or Jay would be ABSOLUTELY great.

Maybe I'm too anxious but I dropped Rattay (over dropping Ant. Wright) for Fiedler. I'm looking to cover Culpepper's Week 5 bye and looking for a long term backup solution as well. Damn, Jets play Tampa Week 5. Great defense, good passing defense too. #1 in league right now. Made move forgetting I should look at Jets. Had looked at Baltimore (at Detroit, weak D) and San Fran (looked great initially as Colts were offensive juggernauts, Rattay can post some #'s, and they would be playing from behind. Lots of passing. Now Colts are great on D?) though already.
Settle down Beavis.
Hey, I'm intense and love football, just check this out http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...howtopic=189320 or this http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...howtopic=189303 . I'm having a great day and not a substance around. Hope you're having one too! Really!

QB's

Vick - guess he got through pretty good

McNabb - looked gimpy but think he played whole game

Pennington- knocked out of game, shoulder. Fiedler in.

Fiedler - knocked out of game, shoulder, went to locker room

Pennington - returned to game but looked weaker?

K Warner - groin injury, will not return, McCown in

Roethlisberger - banged up, shoulder, came back in

RB's

Stephen Jackson - bruised ribs, X rays negative, returned to game, Faulk looked good

Droughns - knocked out temporarily, returned

Dillon - some people asked about Dillon, just think Faulk got a series, Dillon got his second TD so must be OK

WR's

Ike Bruce - went to locker room barefoot, turf toe

Chad Johnson - went to locker room, cramps, returned to game

Kevin Curtis - banged up on a play but that's all I heard - update please

David Givens - banged up ????????????????? back in, really back, just saw two catches, looks strong

OL

Matt Lyght Tackle Pats --- return questionable

DEFENSE

Corey Simon - hurt but have no clue as to what or how bad or if he returned

DeAngello Hall, "Shutdown CB" - went to locker room, returned and got INT in 4th QTR

Takeo Spikes - carted off field crying, Achilles

B Williams Vikings - hurt ????

Charles Woodson - hurt???

STL DEF ---- that Tinasoimio LB dude, hurt, and Hawthorne (Safety I think) hurt on same play but ??????

Rodney Harrison - you need to find yourself a new Safety IDP'ers... broken ankle but the way his knee got crashed in looked even worse

Duane Starks Pats - injured on play 1 but returned

Dat Nyguen LB Cowpokes - hurt?????

SPECIAL TEAMS

K David Akers - it's amazing he kicked the winning FG, albeit a short one, with that hamstring. Spent most of his time on the field falling down, writhing in intense pain. You might want to get a new kicker as this is serious unless you can afford to hold onto him long term because you want the upside from the Philly K. I'd say anything longer than 30 yards at the moment is a physical impossibility.

all of this is unoffficial of course but it was the best I could piece together in summarizing this thread

I think it's all speculation at this point.

Thanks for the summary, this is good stuff!

Matt Winkeljohn, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports the Buffalo Bills fear that LB Takeo Spikes (Achilles') suffered a torn Achilles' tendon during the team's Week 3 game. He slammed his helmet to the turf following the injury, knowing that when the news becomes final upon further examination Monday, Sept. 26, it's not likely to be good

Well, McNabb has another injury and this one could be troublesome

By DAN GELSTON AP Sports Writer Posted September 25 2005, 7:25 PM EDT PHILADELPHIA -- Donovan McNabb is going to spend the rest of the season in pain. Already playing with a bruised chest and groin injury, McNabb has an abdominal strain that may not heal until after the season. While McNabb winced on many plays, the injuries hardly affected his numbers as he threw for 365 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Philadelphia's 23-20 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. "I'm a little banged-up. It would be great to go out and not have any injuries, but in life, you have adversities," McNabb said. Coach Andy Reid said the Eagles were concerned McNabb had a sports hernia, a tear in the abdominal area that likely would have needed surgery. Instead, the Eagles will likely have to limit McNabb's reps in practice. He's missed one practice each of the last two weeks after taking a hit to the chest in the opener against Atlanta "We'll see how he does the next week," Reid said. "Time should help heal that. You don't have a lot of time, that's the thing." After throwing five touchdowns in last week's win against San Francisco, McNabb struggled in the first half. He threw for only 99 yards with an interception and no touchdowns. McNabb found his rhythm in the second half, throwing touchdown passes to Terrell Owens and Brian Westbrook in the third quarter. He finished 30-for-52 for 365 yards. "He just battled through it like the warrior that he is," Reid said. McNabb has played through pain in the past. He broke his ankle in the first quarter of a game against Arizona in 2002 but stayed in and threw four TDs. He had trouble playing with an injured thumb in 2003, but didn't miss any time. McNabb said he plans to seek more tests to make sure the injury is nothing worse than an abdominal strain. "I've heard a lot of things," McNabb said. "We're trying to make sure we get the right answers." Backup Koy Detmer warmed up briefly in the first half but did not go in. Reid said he considered putting the career reserve in if McNabb couldn't go after a couple of big hits rattled him. "Donovan was constantly saying, 'I'll do it,'" Detmer said. "You don't want to see a guy putting himself out there in a harmful way. Obviously, I could tell he was in some pain. He had just taken a big shot. He was getting up kind of slow."

This means he's a risk to sit in week 16 and 17 if the eagles clinch early. Ways off, but something to keep in mind.

Per KFFL:WR Joe Horn (hamstring) is day-to-day with a hamstring injury, according to head coach Jim Haslett. The hamstring injury was not revealed on game day, and Haslett didn't describe it as serious, so it may only be a minor injury.

For Dynasty Leaguers ... Giants RB Brandon Jacobs never came back in the Sunday Night game after suffering what looked like a throat or facial injury. It was a third and short inside San Diego's 10 yard line. Jacobs got within an inch or two of the first down and was then pushed backwards. He came up holding his facial area. Didn't know if it was a shot to the throat or possibly an eye injury, although the latter seems unlikely since he wears a shield. He never returned to the game and I never heard an injury report on him.

Thought I read somewhere that he got poked in the eye.
