Waiver strategy (1 Viewer)

ATG

Footballguy
I'm very active adding and dropping players on waivers. It is not a blind bidding system. Yesterday I added Ronnie Brown to about half of my teams due to a strong matchup this week. I did this in lieu of improving my team with better rb 5 's and wr 5's. Brown should give me 3 or 4 additional points based on my projections. Is this a good strategy or should I have improved my team instead?

Well said, Bad Mo. You've got to play week-by-week sometimes, and so if you think that R. Brown is going to net you an additional 3-4 points (although I'm not sure Brinkley won't be the guy there if Mathews doesn't play), then you need to weigh whether that extra few points is likely to be the margin of victory. If you feel there's a chance it will be, then you're smart to make the move. What RB5/WR5 candidates are we talking about anyway?

The real "risk" associated with dropping guys of that level is that they "go off" in Week 1 and you are unable to pick them back up the next week. Of those guys you listed, LaFell is the only one I would consider likely to have a big game this week.BTW, Thomas Jones?!? Really?

Taiwan Jones. By the way, these are players I might have picked up, not dropped.

D'oh! Forgot about Taiwan. Either way, you gotta do what's best to stack up wins today, and let the chips fall where they may later.
