Waiver Wire Defense Week 9 (1 Viewer)

In my league, these defenses are available for week 9.

OAK vs DEN (#TEBOW)

ATL at IND (suck for luck team?)

STL at ARI, (a reach, but the Rams defense sure did a number on D. Brees)

I like em all...depending on how they look in tonight's game, KC vs. MIA could be an option as well

if 49ers are avail id take that #1

im thinking of going with OAK and dropping CIN - even though they are a pretty solid defense

I'm actually considering burning my #1 waiver position to pick up the Raiders. If they are available, I think they're the easy choice.

I'm thinking of rolling with Houston again at home against Cleveland...maybe Kansas City at home against Miami. Part of me wants to grab Oakland, but I actually start Tebow, so...

I was going to go with ATL, but after what Tebow did yesterday I think I'm going to go with OAK instead.

I picked up HOU defense a few weeks ago and have been very happy. That said, OAK is available and tempted to drop and pick OAK up. I worry about OAK offense though which could give up some easy scores.

i'll try to keep you guys updates with who i pick up this week. trust me when i say you'll want to avoid them at all costs. over the last 4 weeks, i would have been better off not starting a D at all.

dallas at home vs pThetic seahawks
dallas looked pretty pathetic last night
Eagles > SeahawksDallas should at least get some nice sack numbers.Im thinking of them or someone else instead of the Bears against Philly.
I LOVE Dallas at home this week against Seattle after being embarassed in Philly...if Stl can turn it on after an embarassing loss I certainly expect Rob Ryan to get his guys fired up to destroy Seattle...momentum can sometimes work in strange ways...this is one of those times.

I think the Raiders are a great play if they're available. Tebow runs himself into a ton of sacks each week.

The Eagles might've been dropped in some leagues and they obviously look much better. They get Cutler and the Bears' suspect offensive line on Monday night.

I like the Chiefs a lot this week. If Kolb is out the Rams could be a sneaky play but that's really a pretty deep reach.

Not for this week, but for lack of a better thread to put this in, check out New England's schedule down the stretch:

Week 13 - vs IND

Week 14 - at WAS

Week 15 - at DEN

Week 16 - vs MIA

What do the gurus think of them as an add for the fantasy playoff run before somebody else scoops them? They're available in almost all leagues (because they're terrible), but does that schedule make them a viable play?

All sound thinking. The Rams are a team to keep an eye on in the next few weeks. They have a soft schedule for the second half of the season if I remember correctly. If Bradford and SJax can stay healthy, maybe the Rams O can help their D by letting them get some rest on the sidelines. I would not advise anyone to pick up the STL D now. For this week, there is a lot of decent choices including Oak and KC.

I've got Dallas, but I'm considering dropping them for the Raiders or Chiefs. I'm strongly leaning toward the Raiders as the Seahawks have shown at least a little bit of a pulse with Jackson at QB.

Wow, I thought the exact same things as everyone here. Weeks ago I had penciled in Atlanta but someone scooped them up on Friday. Next I figured Oakland after the embarrassing game against the Lions. After Monday, it seems like the Chiefs have gotten back in the groove and should be a good play against Miami and they get Tebow the week after. After the next couple of weeks, it seems as though the Rams and the Patriots have the best schedules coming up. The Rams face Seattle twice, Cleveland, and Arizona twice. Patriots week 13-16 looks killer. If you pickup Oakland or Chiefs and then Rams or Patriots, you should pretty much be set for the rest of the year. Oakland has good weeks 9,12,13,16 and KC has good weeks 9,10, and 13. Rams 9-12 and 14. Pretty sure I'm dropping Saints this week for these guys.

Any more thoughts for those of use who missed out on OAK?

Probably available in a lot of leagues:

KC vs. MIA

ATL @ IND

ARI vs. STL

STL @ ARI

FBG's has NYG ranked pretty high this week, but I'm not seeing it.

I think Kansas City is the play this week if Oakland isn't available. They have been playing solid defense against better team than the Dolphins...and Miami loves to turn the ball over.

Plus, they get the Broncos next week, so you most likely will get a week 10 where you can hang on to them. It would be the first time this season that I have kept a defense longer than a week.

Chiefs DST vs MIA is looking better and better.
they have 6 sacks all year
They had six interceptions in one game. What's your point?Of the ones I have available I grabbed St Louis to cover the Detroit bye. St. Louis is going to be going against John Skelton in his first action of the year. He sports a sub .500 career completion percentage and I think St. Louis will take advantage. He's more of a statue than Kolb. In fact I am doubling up and starting Chris Long at DE in one of my leagues I like the matchup so much.

Too bad Bradford is likely to miss it cause he would be in line for some sweet stats.

 Thanks for fleshing out this matchup. Dang, now I wish I'd have picked up STL. I ended up missing on the Raiders and wound up with ATL. Still ATL really doesn't do much of anything statwise. But as long as they keep Indy's score down, it looks like a safe if unspectacular play.

I've been thinking about this. What about how Indy has done at home? They show up better, have scored some points, and have had some narrow losses. I am not so sure....

bump for update.
goin with KC. adjust accordingly
My opponent picked up KC. :thanks:
You're welcome
Again, I can't thank you enough. Hope you contribute to future WW defense of the week threads.

:X

Guy snatched Dallas before I could...I went back and forth between Atl and Oakland and looked at Denver giving up sacks, turning over the ball, and not scoring...and I settled on Oakland.

-2 points...though, our league usually does not get you on special teams TDs counting against the D and the punt return is right now, hopefully that gets corrected.

So now I am down by a point going into tonight with me having McCoy and my opponent having Forte (should not have been close but my Packers made Rivers into a FF star yesterday afternoon).

i'm thinking i should charge for this service. Last 4 weeks my DT scoring has been -4, 0, 1, -4

-15.74 in my big $ league where I benched Pitt (-7.87) for em. :ptts:

Wondering if HOU vs TB or NYJ vs PATS is the play this week.

I've been extremely lucky with my picks this year, ending up over 10 points every week in my league. KC ended that streak with -3.

Anyone willing to hang on to the Chiefs and try your luck against the Broncos?

St Louis did well for me, notching 10 points for 10th in the league, 6 points off the leader.

There were only 3 DSTs with negative scores last week, and KC and OAK were two of them. The bottom two.
