Waiver Wire Dynasty Sleepers? (1 Viewer)

I'm in a 16 team dynasty league and recently with the news of doctors clearing Al Wilson for a return to football I snatched him up since my LBers are mediocre.

Has anyone else came across any potential sleepers in deep dynasty leagues they'd like to share?

Odell Thurman has been permitted to start working out on the teams facilities. He may be available.

:tinfoilhat: Especially with all the talk lately of the Bengals moving to a 3-4.

Justin Durant got opportunities in JAX at the end of last year.
He's the first player I thought of, he took advantage of those opportunities too. He was a beast out there. I have to believe Peterson is going elsewhere.I'll add --> Brandon McDonald [CB required leagues] and Jamar Williams [Lance Briggs' inevitable replacement]

 Durant and Jamar are gone in all my leagues.

Digging a little deeper:

Blackstock finally got some playing time last year at OLB in AZ's 3-4. He might be available and might score well with Dansby getting the offenses' scheming.

Unlikely available, but a couple guys came back from injury during the year that should score well in 08 - BUF's Ellison and ATL's Nicholas.

Some keep waiting for NYG Wilkinson to replace Mitchell at WLB.

Personally, I think TBB will let Brooks go and move Cato June to WLB, his more natural position. Qunicy Black is waiting in the wings for playing time.

Tulloch came on strong at MLB for TEN late last year.

These are all pretty common targets. My personal deep, deep sleeper is Mike Smith, backup MLB behind Ray Lewis, but has been injured both of the last two years, thus the sleeper status. The main thing I'm basing this on are the training camp reports from 06 which reported Smith looking very good. This combined with Ray's age causes me to keep an eye on this guy.

Would it automatically go to Wiliams if Briggs leaves? What about Okwo? They drafted him knowing what they had in Williams. Could he get a shot?

Anyone have any insight on this?

Some thoughts in one of these threads -- I can't remember where :P . Williams didn't look great last year, and wasn't trusted enough to play in the nickel -- which is at least a sizable red flag considering the coverage requirements of the WLB in a Tampa-2. Still, he appears to have the upper hand, as the Bears weren't too concerned when they put Okwo on the IR with a relatively minor shoulder injury. Both were 4th round picks; Okwo more recent and was probably picked with Briggs leaving in mind. Also been speculation that the Bears will again look to draft an OLB talent in this draft. Hard to handicap at this point, but I wouldn't be real comfortable with Williams' prospects at this point.

Might want to take a flyer on Jamie Winborn. He put up some decent games for Denver late in the season. Denver Post said Ian Gold might be a casualty with the bad run defense this year. Winborn has bounced around quite a bit, I do recall him having some good tackle games in SF at one time early in his career. But maybe this Denver system suits him?

Kevin Burnett could pay off as a gamble.

Stephen Nicholas if he's out there.

Clint Ingram in a 16-team league if he's available.

I think Aaron Rouse (SS for GB) has a shot at starting next year, even though Bigby had a nice FF season , he made a lot of stupid plays and looked out of position on a lot of plays.

I have said it before, I think Antwan Barnes or Prescott Burgess have potential to play a lot more next year, Johnson was basically worthless last year, and if they want to go back to applying the type pressure they used to, they will need to make a move to a more athletic type player and Barnes looks like he will be a beast off the edge.

Here's a couple that intregue me:

Thurman, Odel

Atkins, Baraka (SEA)

Ndukwe, Nedu S-CIN

Torbor, Reggie NYG, and last but aged least

Brown, Alex

I agree with this. He seems to have very good instincts. In the few games toward the end of the season that he actually got significnt PT, he always seemed to be around the ball. This is something that I just wasn not seeing from Gold, so it was rather refreshing.

Not late in the year, but Rouse could take over at FS.

Can we talk more about Jamar Williams? I just noticed he's available in my primary league. Briggs is almost definitely gone in the offseason, correct? (Agreed not to tag him again last time, I think, and I heard Sf is interested). Is Jamar likely to start this year? Will he keep the job in the next year or two as a worthwhile LB3? Worth stashing for a minimum contract salary?

CHI may give Briggs an offer as insurance due to Urlacher's surgury.

My thoughts copied from another thread.
Williams got the first look in Chicago, but was inconsistent and wasn't trusted in the nickel package. Hunter Hillenmeyer is an underrated player, but the WLB in a Tampa-2 really should be an every down player. On the other hand, putting Okwo on IR may have stunted his growth some. My gut feeling is that the Bears knew what they had in Williams and drafted Okwo in the fourth round with the knowledge that Briggs was probably gone this offseason. Williams may be the guy, but I'm nervous.
I don't think it's out of the question that the Bears look to bring in yet another body during FA or the draft. If they don't, it bodes very well for Williams.

Yes, very much so.

Anthony Waters LB SD
reasons? Im a SD homer and havent got that insight
If you are a Charger fan, then you probably know better than i do.I said Waters strictly on paper research. His 2007 draft analysis was solid, and he potential was tremendous. Plus the ILBs on SD are not studs, so i figure he has a chance to lock up a starting gig. The best comment i remember about him was that he is a true MLB, and a force against the run.

I think Siler has a better chance then Waters

I acquired SOLB LaMarr Woodley, Pitt at the end of last year. Expect Clark Haggans to be cut and leave the door open for Woodley.
