Waiver Wire Gems (Week 5 version) (1 Viewer)

Furrey and Reggie Williams are both still available in my 10 team redraft. 6WR play 2.I've got Holt, Burress, Keyshawn, B. Edwards, and Branch. I'm going to drop P. Rivers for one of Furrey or Williams. I see everyone talking up Furrey. Why not Williams?
cause reggie williams is top-5 in the league in yardage, and should already be rostered in any yardage performance leagues.it is a definite rarity for RWilliams to be on a ww since he has been a starting WR for JAX all season long.

-- Just as a quick addition to my previous post. I love these comments from AP writer John McFarland from 9-27."SHOW HIM THE DARN BENCH

- Bench Matt Jones and Reggie Williams of the Jaguars on principal alone after the Jaguars' starting duo combined for 8 yards last week.

- Also keep Santana Moss and other Redskins on the bench against the Jaguars.

- There's no point in starting any receiver in St. Louis aside from Torry Holt, who has half the Rams' WR catches and both the touchdowns."

Williams - 21.30 points - Who has principals in fantasy football???

S. Moss - 31.80 points

I. Bruce - 18.00 points (avg 10 ppg)

They pay this guy to write?
If the guy can't even use the right word, why believe anything he says?
Main Entry: prin·ci·ple

Pronunciation: 'prin(t)-s(&-)p&l, -s&-b&l

Function: noun

Etymology: Middle English, from Middle French principe, principle, from Old French, from Latin principium beginning, from princip-, princeps initiator -- more at PRINCE

1 a : a comprehensive and fundamental law, doctrine, or assumption b (1) : a rule or code of conduct (2) : habitual devotion to right principles <a man of principle> c : the laws or facts of nature underlying the working of an artificial device

2 : a primary source : ORIGIN

3 a : an underlying faculty or endowment <such principles of human nature as greed and curiosity> b : an ingredient (as a chemical) that exhibits or imparts a characteristic quality

4 capitalized, Christian Science : a divine principle : GOD

- in principle : with respect to fundamentals <prepared to accept the proposition in principle>

usage Although nearly every handbook and many dictionaries warn against confusing principle and principal, many people still do. Principle is only a noun; principal is both adjective and noun. If you are unsure which noun you want, read the definitions in this dictionary.

Mike Furrey
What kind of league could you find where he is still available on the FA pile?
ummm probably one with fewer than 16 teams like I am betting yours is...
Furrey has been gone (at least two weeks if not longer in1) All 29 NFFC Leagues - 14 teamers2) Most of the 70 WCOFF regular leagues - 12 teamers
Current ownership in all CBS leagues is 11%,so Furrey is still available in plenty of leagues out there. If you read previous posts, it seems there areowners who dropped him after week 3,therefore again available on some WW's.
the lasts two posts are a vivid illustration of the disparity in quality of WCOFF/NFFC leagues vs CBS leagues . . .
So true.

right - but I'd bet that the majority of folks in the Pool aren't in leagues as competitive as the WCOFF leagues.

So, talking about Furrey as a WW pick up is what we are here for.

Here's a good one:

Marcedes Lewis, TE, JAX - He was probably drafted in a lot of your leagues, but I'm guessing a lot of owners dropped him early in the season. He's finally healthy and should eventually become a significant factor in the Jacksonville offense. He put up monster numbers last year at UCLA and offers the potential to become an elite red zone threat.

:loco: How about roster size, guy?

3 pages of waiver wire pickups and the only name available in any of my 3 Zealot Leagues is David Kircus.

This tells me that 53 man rosters make picking up a viable offensive free agent after the pre-season is really really difficult.

You can still pick up IDP's.

What this tells me is that for all rookie drafts for these leagues never ever select an IDP player. Ever. Never.

You both illustrate a great point. For a lot of our readers (our guys are more competitive than the CBS system as a whole where he's avaiable in 93% of leagues) a note to pickup Mike Furrey draws  as he was drafted on day 1. In lots of other leagues, he'll be available and is the kind of info the guy wants. It's a balance and we'll continue to try and work it out.
 I'm in a competitive 10-team league (TD-heavy) and Furrey was still on the waiver wire Sunday morning.I've had my eye on him since week 1 (thanks partly to this forum), but with limited roster spots it was hard to justify pulling the trigger.

I'm more worried that Wrighster received a lot of looks this past game.

Morency is a guy I drafted, dropped, picked up, dropped again, and am now thinking about making a bid on again. Seems like he could be very good whenever Green is out (I don't have him), though I'm having a hard time deciding how much I really want to go after him.
I'm in the *exact* same boat. Personally, I dont think I'll pick him up again. I think he's only worth handcuffing to Green. There are other players I think I'll spend a roster spot on instead.Though he did look good in action on MNF (sans fumble). If I owned Ahman, I would def. be making a play for him.

Lewis has only been healthy for two weeks. He should become increasingly involved in the offense over the next few months. Wrighster might be a better blocker right now, but he's not a better receiver.

For defense, what about Indy at home versus the Titans who are playing with a rookie QB? It doesn't get better than that does it? Can you think of a better defensive matchup this week?

never said he was - it weorried me how many looks Wrighster got, though - it makes me thing they'll be using a Kinney/Troupe type split until MLewis learns the game. Since Wrighster had 7 looks, how many could MLewis get? 3? 4?Remember that TE is the hardest position for rookies - and rookies standing out in the passing game are an extreme rarity. He's a guy to keep an eye on - but I wouldn't be going ape to get him right now.(EBF is right that the guy is an AWESOME receiver and an incredible athletic talent - look out for him next year, for sure)

id dont understand why everyone is going nuts over this furrey guy hes done nothing all year and he has one games you all make him sound like hes a keeper! hes garbage.. marques colston is a better pickup or even doug gabriel
Furrey is free in my league. But so is M.Clayton (Ravens). Hmmm.................

For everybody going nuts on Furrey......

Detroit doesn't play St.Louis every week. Roy Williams is the stud WR on this team, Furrey is a good/decent WR. But those of you that can't see this was all about M.Martz's ego and wanting to prove something to St.Louis (his & Furrey's old team) need to wake up and smell the coffee.

Furrey is available in 2 of my leagues and nobody picked him up this week either.

Wayne Chrebet had a few nice games too, didn't he?

Did you guys miss the Dynasty crown on the thread?

Reggie Williams, LenDale White, Reggie Brown, Chris Henry, Bernard Berrian, Brandon Lloyd, Thomas Jones, Mark Brunell... These guys are loooooong gone in dynasty, fellas.

Now for the guys who mentioned Mike Furrey, Wes Welker, Leon Washington, David Kircus... kudos to you. These are dynasty waiver-wire guys.

LenDale White available in dynasty... :lmao:

I'll add one...

Marcus Robinson. He has a great matchup this week to go off. Williamson should draw Detroit's top corner (Bly) and even when he does get open, he's just as likely to drop the ball. I say Brad will start to rely more on this veteran receiver, provided he stays healthy.

I've just picked up Furrey, Reggie Williams, and Gabriel to strengthen my bench.

Starters are TO, TJHuz, Kennison. Others include Branch, Bruce, and Williamson.

With limited TD production from Tiki, Dunn, And Foster my season has regressed to WR matchups.

Lots of confusion going forward...

:D

Indy def isn't available in our league, but I going with KC vs Arizona. KC should be available in most league.

I like this thought. However, why Marcus Robison over Travis Taylor?

I like the B. Lloyd call. He's been dropped in a lot of leagues, but I think we could see him put up some decent numbers with coverages being shaded towards Moss.

I am saying Koren Robinson. Now that he does not have to serve jail time until the end of the season he may be a viable option. The guy is still a young WR, and has to know this is his last chance.

Favre has already said how much he likes K-Rob..with Driver dinged..who knows?

As a Chris Simms owner in a Dynasty league who wasn't able to get Gradkowski I went ahead this week and picked up Luke McCown. My reasoning is this...He comes off the PUP in 2 weeks and if Gradkowski isn't performing well then he'll probably be the guy Gruden goes with (if he's not starting Rattay now, he never will).

I am not so sure that he is not going to be subject to discipline from the league. The league is under no obligation to wait until the end of the season to give him the one year suspension that he may be heading for.

I dunno. He might be available in some leagues. But for a bigger picture, I always look at these things in more of a "which players are rising in value?" sort of way.Whether it's pick off the waiver wire, or make a trade for the guy. It's a good angle.J
Marques Colston is still on the WW in our league :bag:
is your league played under a rock???

Call it a hunch but beyond that, Robinson has had decent stats in the games he has played this year. He was injured for the other two.

Someone mentioned Jerramy Stevens in this thread. Good call.

He's available in my Dynasty league, and I will put a bid in for him in our blind bid auction this week. Sure, there are lots of WR to steal targets from Stevens. But I think using all those three and four WR sets will open up the underneath routes for Stevens.

picked up New England Defense off of waivers. C-Pep should be good for 5 sacks a fumble and a pick :banned:

Was very tempted to pick up Kansas City defense, but for some reason, i think that Warner is prone to more t/o's then Leinart

I also just grabbed the NE / D,they have a nice schedule going down the stretch. They looked very impressive last week at Cinccy.

Joe Jurevicius is owned by only 25% of the teams on CBS. Alot of people dumped him after his injury. The Browns passing game is starting to gel as Frye is getting more comfortable as a starter. In his first week back, Juervicius was targeted 5 times and had 1 TD. You could do alot worse off the wire if that continues.
