Waiver Wire Gems - Week 9 edition (1 Viewer)

TE Owen Daniels

WR Chris Henry

RB Vernand Morency (see injury first) Looks like he is Green's backup

TE Vernon Davis he could be huge if he's back to 100%

Trent Green - He's been down a while so he might have been cut loose, and Edwards has left little doubt that Green will be the starter when healthy.

Najah Davenport - It appears Haynes is out for the year leaving Najah as the sole possessor of the backup RB job in Pittsburgh, and judging from Big Bens performance Sunday, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Steelers lean on the run a bit more.

With the injuries to GB's receivers, TE David Martin becomes a bigger part of that offense. I read he took a hit in the jaw but don't know if it affects his play status. He had 4-48 and a TD this week.

Sage Rosenfels
Really? Did he look that much better than Carr? I didn't see too much of the game.
I would disagree with picking up Sage. Reports I read state that Kubiak benched Carr as punishment for poor ball security. Kubiak told Carr after the first fumble that he would bench him if he didn't protect the ball better. So, Kubiak benced Carr after the second fumble in order to "be a man of his word" (in Kubiak's words). According to Kubiak, Carr was pissed, which was the reaction that Kubiak was looking for. After the game, Kubiak stated all this and then unabashedly stated that Carr was the starter. No link.

KFFL has already reported that Carr will be the starter next week.

Thanks for the confirmation.

In deep PPR leagues with points for kickoff/punt returns, Tony Fisher may be a viable candidate. He caught five balls out of the backfield and returned kicks for the Rams this week with defensive back JR Reed again inactive and Kevin Curtis playing a bigger role in the passing game.

It is worth noting in similar leagues that WR Michael Lewis returned to the Saints, and RB Najeh Davenport returned a pair of kicks (presumably as the Raiders were kicking away from Santonio Holmes?)

What about Addai
In 8-team leagues, maybe. The guy was already a top-25 RB, which made him roster-worthy in any league with 10 or more teams.
FBG's listed him as a "waiver wire" pickup. Must be a thin week for real waiver wire grabs.
FBG's only puts up this list for the guys who play in really small leagues. They obviously know that they are gone in leagues with 10 or more teams. A couple of the leagues I play in this year are 10 team and that is too small. I can't imagine why anyone would want to play in a smaller league unless they are just starting out and were only able to get a few friends together...I suppose it's better than no fantasy football.Mike Bell was dropped in a couple of the 12 team leagues that I'm in. The Pats passing game looks like it's finally coming together with all the new guys. They spread it around quite a bit though, so I suppose it's difficult to know who will be the primary beneficiary from week to week.

 Addai had already outscored Dillon, Cadillac, Droughns, and Jamal Lewis. Did FBGs list them as WW pickups as well?
Please keep in mind our criteria:
This article covers a long list of players at each position because we try to cover all the bases for those of you in leagues with 8 or 10 teams, those that use PPR scoring or even those larger leagues with 14+ teams. What we've done this week is offer a list of players who may be available in smaller leagues that we've covered at length in previous weeks of this article.
Specifically for RBs:
The backs listed here are gone in most competitive leagues, but not all of them. We’ve covered them in previous weeks, but we continue to list them in the event they are available.
Addai was the first RB listed, therefore, we expected him to be gone in all but the smallest, least competitive, and smallest roster leagues - we are trying to cover everyone.

Move down past the listed RBs and you get into the players who might be available in big leagues with small rosters

Cool. I always love it when my starting QB in a $1,700 league gets benched so that the coach can teach him a lesson. :wall:

romo may be avail in some leagues... in one league i already had him, i prorated his start X 7 and it would have been the #3 QB after manning & mcnabb...

& he only had 1 TD pass... guess those rushing yards help

I would run not walk to the waiver wire and get Romo. The guy looked awesome Sunday night. He would be an option next week against a banged up Skins D. He's got T.O., Glenn, JJ, and Witten. He's got some serious weapons and could possibly be a must start. There is just something about him that looks like he's got superstar written all over him. He made good decisions, good throws, looks confident, looks relaxed, and knows when to get out of the pocket. I've got Favre and Pennington as my QB's, but I'm thinking about dumping Pennington this week for Romo. Don't sleep on this guy.

:lmao: You expect these guys to read when it is easier to bash. :lmao: :lmao:

In one of my leagues someone just dropped Reggie Williams and Matt Jones has been on the WW for a while now. Anyone think one of this is worth a shot at the flex given they go up against Ten?

Does Garrard like one over the other? Against the Eagles, Matt had 2 targets/2 catches/32 yds and Reggie had 3 targets/1 catch/13 yds but it was a wind driven game so the passing was low and not required as the Jax were winning

Matt Jones is available in one of my leagues also - as is Reche Caldwell. Both are tempting, but I would have to drop Braylan Edwards to get them. Not sure if either are an upgrade.

Stay away from NE WRs. 0 points one week, 20 the next. Like DEN RBs...not worth the headaches.
:goodposting: Especially this upcoming game in the cold at NE. Expect Belichick to just run on the Colts and keep Peyton on the bench. Start both Dillon and Maroney if you can but bench the NE WRs this weekend

Not sure I agree with you guys. The Pats are only as good as Tom Brady takes them. He will need to use his arm to win games for them, and it looks like Caldwell may be emerging as his go to guy.
