waiver wire gems (1 Viewer)

From what I am reading, Willis McGahee will be out four weeks with this rib injury. Thomas looks to be the big WW pcik up this week considering that news. I am thinking about putting a waiver request for him just based on tangling him in front of the McGahee owner or basically letting him rot on my bench so that other owners can not sue him these next four weeks.

What is this? An attorney/player league?Besides, keep Thomas in check (no nightclubs, no gun possession, no drunk driving) and you won't have any litigation worries

Going for a not as obvious one. Trent Green is supposed to be getting close and may be out there in several leagues. I also see Devery Henderson available but I'm not convinced he is a great claim.

typing too fast and the U and the S got transposed. I thought grammar and spelling nit pickers only hung out in the FFA?

They talk through their aliasses over here.

E. Wilford was dropped in my league a week or so ago. Gonna put in a request for him as it seemed he and Garrard had some pretty good chemistry last season, and looks like that may have carried over if last week was an indication.

In addition to the players listed, here are some WRs to consider:

Chris Henry (if he's still available)

Mark Clayton

Braylon Edwards (if he was dropped)

Santonio Holmes (could start this week)

Matt Jones (if he was dropped)

D.J. Hackett (if you need a one-week flyer)

Edited to add at RB if DeAngelo Williams was dropped in your league this may be your last chance to get him.

Devery Henderson - Check Horn's injury status

Kevin Curtis - Check his injury status

What do people feel his value is going forward in a dynasty? FBG's dynasty ranking still has him quite low, and i'm not sure if i'm just overly excited from his last performance, and the potential of the NO offense going forward.

He burned me against Hou the first time they played them but Garrard looks to him a lot so I guess he's got another shot. I'd 2nd him for this week.A deep option is Rasheid Davis WR Chi. I think he's getting the shot to start for Berrian. NYG are 23rd against #23 vs #2 WRs, so he's got a shot at a good game.

Did you read that right? From what I can gather NYG is ranked 5th vs #2's.

There's certainly opportunity there with Horn aging and Stallworth gone. I wouldn't read too much into his numbers last week - they were based more on breakdowns in coverage than any great skill on Henderson's part.

I'm not one for grammar but this struck me funny.

That table doesn't have much fantasy relevance. They write that in that blurb above the table. I found it interesting at first too though. My pickup is Santonio Holmes if he's out there.

I would keep an eye on Calhoun over in Detroit. In the case that KJ goes down, i think Calhoun can put up some pretty good numbers in the Martz offense.

I picked up Holmes. Think it could be a shootout vs. NO this week and Cedric has to be in the doghouse after last week. If Saints double Ward, Holmes could have a big day. I'm hittin the wire weekly for WR3 matchups. Last week took Cooley - not bad.I'm doing the same thing with defenses. SF has looked so bad the past few weeks offensively. Detroit looked very tough at home vs. Atlanta last week. I think this could be a blowout, and Detroit D might be the sleeper play of the week. Ballsy play, but going with my gut on both picks..

If the reports about Toomer are accurate - then there should be a Giant wr on the waiver wire that could be productive...just not sure who....Tim Carter?

Another sleeper pick. The Packers had 5 sacks last week against Buffalo. No FRs or Ints tho. This week they play the anemic Vikings. If you get rewarded for points given up, they may be worth a nod.

Why would Cedric be in the doghouse any more than Santonio?

I did this, and put Green on IR. I hope we would know by the time he comes back healthy if he is starting or not.

Santonio just can't field punts. Cedric got an earful a couple of times last week, dropped passes, penalties (I believe), etc. Read more than once that lineup changes are coming in Pitt, and this was one of the more obvious ones.

D.J. Hackett (if you need a one-week flyer)
Hackett should not be an FA in any but the deepest of dynasty leagues.
The number of leagues in which he is owned went up from 0% to 1% in CBS leagues this week. I guess there a lot of very deep dynasty leagues on CBS ;)
If you are in a CBS league; check out Roster Trends in the 'Players' section..DJ Hackett is out there in all but 1% of leagues...

Aren't those predominately redraft leagues?

ok, pardon the interruption. I mistakenly thought Bloom was suggesting that Hackett shouldn't be available in the majority of leagues.carry on... :bag:

Does Priest have any value for a stretch run? Just thinking about picking him up in a really deep dynasty league. Have a spot available and it would be low risk/HIGH reward.

RB Priest Holmes has to join the Chiefs at practice this week if he intends to play this season. Holmes, by NFL rule, will have his season officially end if he’s not on the practice field this week. Although the Chiefs haven’t made an official announcement, it’s a poorly kept secret at Arrowhead that Holmes wouldn’t play for them this season. He hasn’t attended any of the team meetings or practice sessions since July.

Even if he returned, he wouldn't see the field behind LJ.

He was suggesting that. At least that is what he wrote, but perhaps not what he intended to write...

Of course it's not FF scoring, but it's the only type of info out there that's i've been able to find.Data telling me that a certain defense is stronger against the #1 and #2 WR but very giving to other WRs suggests their nickel/dime DBs stink and a WR3 on a good passing team might be a sneaky play.

Oh, look at KC: #1 against #1 WRs (Holt held to 3/50/0 last week), #12 against #2 WRs (Bruce with an average 3/61/0 last week) and dead last in the league against all other WRs (Kevin Curtis with a very good 7/59/1 last week).

Or the Bears, #26 against #1 WRs and 2 and 3 against WR2 and all other WRs. Last week - Chambers 5/58/1 and not more than 3 catches or 14 yards for the other WRs, though Booker did have a TD.

It's obviously not foolproof, but I actually think it's just one more piece of the FF puzzle. Spoonfed, no, relevant, yes.

I picked up Hackett and Maurice Hicks. Hicks has intrigued me in SF. Yes, the one long play skewed his ypc, but he had a 5+ ypc lst year. He is behind a star RB who has had injuries in the past and a promising rookie RB that is a convert from QB. If anything happened to Gore, I could see Hicks getting a lot of action.
