I still remember the first purse that my wife bought when we were a young couple living in an apartment.  It was a Dooney and Burke that cost $250.  I remember discussing how ridiculous it was to spend that much on a purse.  Her response was that it was a high quality purse that she would be able to use forever.  How naïve I was.  I still give her a hard time about it 22 years later.
