Pretty sure it was 22.5 before the game.

He has currently allowed 3 runs in .1 inning.

My guess>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 67.44

As a Yankee fan I feel bad for the guy. hes clearly not right. hes throwing 89 mph right down the plate. I dont know if they can ship him out for his next start.

Looking for some serious crow-eating in here.
Yes, but KEI IGAWA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! won his AAA today (nevermind the fact he had a 9.00 ERA...must be an Asian thing), Ian Kennedy (who actually did have a nice AAA start), and of course Hughes, who didn't.

Seriously, I will PAY someone to throw this ####### piece of #### to the bottom of the Hudson river with cement shoes on.

With Girardi right after him. Good job not getting anyone up sooner to make sure that now the game is COMPLETELY out of reach.

It was only 14 runs in one inning. We still have a chance... sort of like how Jim Carey's character in Dumb and Dumber had a chance with Lauren Holly.

Did you hear the Cardinals player in Chicago FOX had mic'd up?
Did they run out of 5's for the scoreboard?
:lmao:

You got to love it. I guess you can tell how good you are by the number of people who hate you.
Talk about bad shtick.
Truth hurts. No one hates the Pirates or the Royals. No one hated the RedSox until after 2004.
 The Yankees haven't been good in a while.People hate the Yankees because of the mockery they make of the pay scale. That's why people love to see them crash and burn.

It's April 19th, chachi. I like their odds quite a bit still.

One year they don't make the playoffs?

I find it odd that Yankees fans don't understand this.
Pay scale isn't everything. I've acknowledged that some restrictions need to be in place.
Obviously, but when you're able to outspend other clubs by several multiples of their payroll, where's the sport in that? There is no adequate defense of this, so I'd invite people to save their collective breath.

Have you ever seen Yankeefan23's inane defense of the NY spending? It's a must-read.

I'll take a link. I could use the laugh.

The system sucks. If I wasnt a Yankee fan Id hate them too. Its pretty hard to defend the system and I wish theyd fix it but its not gonna stop me from loving the Yanks or baseball.

No one is asking you to stop supporting your team. What seems to be lacking, however, is some appreciation from some that the gripes are justified.

What people are griping about is a system that hasn't worked. There should be no griping about it. That is the ultimate defense against what the Yankees are doing. Rampant spending, selling the farm system and buying veteran players with bad deals does not work.

Just because teams with absurd payrolls are terrible at managing a team doesn't make everything okay. All you're doing here is telling large market teams that they can be much, much worse in key areas of scouting and overall team management because money will bail them out.Boston is clearly better at running a team than New York. Both have massive salaries. New York's advantage is curtailed by their stupidity. That doesn't lessen the problem. Yes, teams with relatively small payrolls can and have won, even recently, but the road is far steeper. Imagine Florida with a huge payroll.

i think this might be the breaking year for the yankee$. if they don't make the playoffs, they might start to fall into the pity division.

It can work (well, except the part about specifically buying a veteran player with a bad deal), the Yankees just aren't very good at it.I think the biggest problem with NY is that they have not placed much of a premium on defense, although that's changed a little in the last year. Matsui is terrible. Damon is terrible. Nady was terrible. Cano and Jeter were terrible. Giambi and Abreu were really terrible. As bad as Wang's been, a guy who relies on his defense as much as he does hasn't gotten much help from them. They've also done a brutal job developing players. Hocking your prospects for established vets can work, but you actually need good prospects.

If Florida had a the ability to generate a huge payroll.... they probably wouldn't have put themselves in a position where they placed such an emphasis on player development and youth. And money doesn't necessarily bail them out. In a lot of ways, it puts them in a sort of limbo where the team can't justify shedding payroll and acknowledging a losing season to make the team better three years from now.

As more teams generate more revenue it's getting harder and harder to get a young just entering your prime player with a FA deal. Teams are locking these guys up. This year was a bit different for them as they got CC and Tex...but still
