wannabee Strategy Thread (3 Viewers)

Jeff, I have Jackson on bye, That leaves Peterson,Lewis,Echamandu,Bennet for rb choices. My lean is to Peterson/Lewis.

I think Stokley and Branch have good matchups and that would put Holmes on my bench.

What do you think about Denver vs. the vikes D this week?

I'm playing one of our best teams this week, though I'm still in first.

Another team: Need two: L. Johnson, edge,MJd,Graham, taylor

Two of these: Jennings,Smith,Chambers,Megatron,Hackett

Thanks for all the help this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK Jeff...I agree with you on all counts except...

Hanson (1FG/3XP) v DEN over Crosby (1FG/2XP) @ KC

I have checked out some projections and found Phil Dawson at 3FG/2XP

----are you buying these projections? Dawson faces SEA this week

TE

I need to drop Owen Daniels.

You like King (CAR) & Scheffler (DEN)---I like those options as well. Neither are projected to score.

Kyle Brady is available and I am playing against Brady this week.

How do you like the chances of Tom tossing a TD to Kyle this week?

Ben Watson is not supposed to play again this week.

ONE LAST QUESTION....

I forgot to ask you who you think I should start in my RB/WR Flex spot.

Here are the guys on my bench that can fill the Flex spot...

Kenny Watson @ BUF

Travis Henry v DET

Selvin Young v DET

or

Kevin Curtis v DAL

I have been being hounded for the last month from this guy trying to get Addai from me.His current offer is McGahee/TJ for Addai/Steve Smith. I am starting to consider doing this deal, although it probably takes me a step back as far as keepers go. I am 5-3, 2nd in my division and tied for third best record with two other teams. Do I take this deal or is there a counter-offer I should push for?1/10 rushing, 1/20 passing, 4 pts TD pass, 6 pts all other TD's. Three player, one per position keeper league. Also, I am considering dropping either Dayne or Morris to pick up Joe Echemandu. Is this a wise move and if so, which do I drop? We have a cap of 6 RB's, so I have to drop an RB to pick one up.My RosterPos Player, TeamQB Marc Bulger, STLQB Eli Manning, NYGRB Ahman Green, HOURB Ron Dayne, HOURB Joseph Addai, INDRB Laurence Maroney, NERB Sammy Morris, NERB Kenton Keith, INDWR Calvin Johnson®, DETWR Steve Smith, CARWR Jerricho Cotchery, NYJWR Kevin Curtis, PHITE Jason Witten, DALTE Tony Scheffler, DENPK Phil Dawson, CLEDef Ravens, Team Defense, BALDef Colts, Team Defense, INDHis RosterPos Player, TeamQB Peyton Manning, INDQB Brian Griese, CHIRB Steven Jackson, STLRB Willis McGahee, BALRB Chris Brown, TENRB Brian Leonard®, STLRB LenDale White, TENRB Musa Smith, BALWR Hines Ward, PITWR Plaxico Burress, NYGWR Muhsin Muhammad, CHIWR TJ Houshmandzadeh, CINWR Reggie Brown, PHIWR D.J. I would not do that deal. Also, I woudl drop Dayne for Echemandu. Worth a shot. On Addai, he is a top 2-3 RB in that system. Last week was no fluke.

Hey, no problem at all. I, too, would choose Peterson and Lewis. Both have decent matchups. I agree on the WRs and would go with the Denver defense against the Lions. I expect the Chargers to take pretty good care of the ball vs Minny. The second set of RBs comes down to LJ, Edge and MJD. With Drew kind of nicked up, I would go with the two RBs coming off of a bye week. Even though it is painful to watch Smith with Carr under center, you have to start him. For the other one, I would lean to Chambers. Minny DBs are not good. Good luck.

I like Hanson at home kicking in the dome. With KJ back, Hanson has had more field goal chances. For TE, you might go with Scheffler. After thinking about it, I remembered the good game Olsen had against the Lions last week. The flex comes down to Rudi's health. If Rudi sits again, start Watson. If not, start whichever of the Bronco backs will start. Hope that makes sense and good luck.

Hey Jeff, I wanted to ask you about Garrard vs Warner, Schaub as my back ups for qb depth. I like Warner's schedule, but Garrard played pretty well before he was hurt(he's on wire). Thanks again.

I would prefer Garrard's consistency/production. Warner could easily be hurt soon. He is not an ironman (duh).

Hey Wannabe- no LJ/LT gambit to win me a championship this year!

My dilemna this season- with beaucoup depth at WR in a start two league, .5/rec, 1/30 yds:

Edwards

Fitzgerald

Harrison

Galloway

...I've been hard pressed to declare my starters the last few weeks. Edwards has distanced himself from the others somewhat and Harrison has yet to make a move to get the starting nod back. Fitzgerald has been just "okay"-only finding the endzone once, and Galloway has been a suprise sometimes and "meh" others. :nerd:

I'm looking to parlay some of this depth into a studly TE like Gonzo. His owner has Crumpler as well, is hurting bigtime @ WR and can't afford to lose the next couple of games.

Who would you do away with to make that happen? I'll hang up and listen.

I might look to move Fitz since he is the one worth probably the most and does not help you starters. I still see owners pay full price for Fitz, even with Boldin back. If you move Fitz, I might ask for a depth WR (upside guy) in return as well. A guy like Hackett who could start in a pinch. But, getting a TE like Gonzo helps your starters way more than Fitz.

I like that deal a lot. MJD is nicked and his owners are unhappy. Maroney owners know the feeling. Also, getting Boldin is nice. Plus, this allows you to keep your waiver position and let that owner use his.

Our trades are all 1:1. I'd be happy rotating Harrison and Galloway here on here on out with the good chance that Harrison heats up again. I've been hanging onto Heap til this point. :lmao: so Gonzo would be sweet.

Kenny Irons and Chris Perry are available on our WW. I have Rudi and Kenny Watson on my Roster. Should I pick up one or both of the guys available and see how thing shake out(would have to drop two players and it would cost me 10$. The league is a 12 team keep 10 players keeper league. No PPR

I would definitely pick up Irons and drop Tynes. The only caveat would be if you have to declare keepers early. The later you declare, the better. I think there is a chance Rudi is not a Bengal in 2008. I would not bother with Perry.

Jeff, How do you see Maroney,Gore, and Jackson going to the end of this year? I have Jackson of course. Thanks!!

I wanted to mention the football guys have holmes ranked pretty high this week. Would you still play stokley with his matchup against Detroit?

You will know about Irons' health and Rudi's whereabouts by then. Some leagues have that deadline in March or April, which is too early to know much.

The Stokely/Holmes decision is tough. FBG might be considering the McAllister injury which has seemed to come up after the bye week. I would play Holmes definitely if you need a big game. ok, I will say, play Holmes. He could be huge, or as huge as anyone can be versus Baltimore. Maroney - I like him for the short term (next handful of games) but worry that he can neither stay healthy sharing the load or carry the entire load. I have him in a dynasty and am apprehensive.Gore - I look for the 49ers to start giving him the ball a ton, like last season. The only question is whether or not his ankle is up to the task. He is a good candidate to rebound.SJackson - My favorite RB to bounce back. I expect the Rams to show some heart the last half of the season and Jackson to play up to the level we expect .... as long as his back is ok (which I think will be the case). Jackson is a premier talent and looked good last week ... even for a half.

The final deal ended up being Maroney, Morris, Steve Smith and Ravens D for MJD, Echemandu, Boldin, and Titans D. I also like this deal, especially come playoff time.I was unable to trade for a QB, so the way I see it, I can pick up either of these two. Losman vs. Cincy or Huard vs. GB. They seem to be ranked very near each other, but I am leaning Losman. Any insight you can offer?

I keep reading that Mare is expected to have a great day. I can't even bear to watch him kick when I am at the Saints game. So, I find it hard to believe that this guy can have a great day. I am waiting on Hanson from the WW to take over for Crosby.

Are we still on the same page in Kicker & TE selections for the week?

THANKS AGAIN & GOOD LUCK !

I would lean toward Losman against Cincy because the Bengal defense stinks and the Bills will have to score to keep up.

He has a good team, but it looks like he has some tough matchups this week. Most of his players have very tough matchups. I would avoid Mare like the plague. I like Crosby and Hanson more than Mare, and Hanson best. Good luck tomorrow.

Hi Jeff,

Have you heard much about Stokley being hurt, and How do you like the raiders for a bye week play this week against Sage.

Vikes my normal choice. I'm just looking for a good matchup this week. Saints may be available as well.

Man I hope your right about S. Jackson down the road.

thanks as Always Jeff!!!

no problem.....Ap and Lewis carried the wood this week...thanks

Hey Jeff-

Didn't my SAINTS look AWESOME! The Superdome was going crazy today, it has been a crazy weekend. LSU vs BAMA was a thriller but the Tigers came through and upset Saban!

Well, my teams are up right now, but not by much. Reggie Wayne didn't generate his normal numbers and Patrick Crayton layed a goose egg!

So...I have checked out the WW already and while my choices are very, very slim I want your opinion.

DJ Hackett had a nice day 6-58-1, next week they play SF (nice matchup) I believe that Seattle should be able to win that game.

Brandon Stokely 4-32-1, DEN goes to KC next week.

I only have 4 WR's Wayne & Housh are SOLID. Do I stick it out with Crayton and write off this week? Do I keep Berrian? The Bears are playing Oakland next week. Keep him or let him go for Hackett?

------

At QB, I have Derek Anderson he has also been awesome! This week I needed and dearly missed his passing TD's but nice yardage and completions as usual. Next week he is at PITT. My other QB option is Griese and he is Oakland.

I want to know who you would give the starting slot to and whether or not you would keep Griese. Do you think he'll bounce back or should I let him go in favor of JP Losman @ MIA?

I have a feeling that you are going to tell me to chill with what I have but you know I have to ask.

I grabbed Hanson and he scored 17 points for me-thanks for another SOLID tip! :pickle:

I hope that your sports weekend has been a good one! :bag:

It was a great football weekend. Keep an eye on Hackett's injury. He played weel early and left the game. But, if Hackett is healthy, he is a decent add in place of Crayton. Crayton and Berrian will have great and horrible games. On Hanson, I would continue to roll with him.

Hey Jeff- more of a general question for you this time!

My league rules and roster:

10 Team Dynasty, non PPR

Passing- 4/td, 1/20 yds

Rushing/Recieving- 6/td, 1/10 yds

Defense- 5/int, 2/tack, 1/asst, 4/sack

QB(1)- McNabb, Roethlisberger, Leinart

RB(2)- FWP, Adrian Peterson, R. Bush, K. Jones, S. Young, Turner

WR(3)- Chad Johnson, Holt, TO, R. Williams, Calvin Johnson, Jennings, S. Moss

PK(1)- Vinatieri

DL(2)- J. Abraham, C. Grant, W. Smith

LB(2-3)- Pierce, Peterson, McIntosh, DiGiorgio, Harris

DB(2-3)- Sanders, Harper

Ok, I have 3-4 top 10 RBs (depending on where you have KJ going forward) AND 5 Top 15 WRers plus an exploding Jennings. My defense is pretty much thrown together, but everybody is performing *enough* except for my DL so I'm not concerned with them right now.

My question is: Should I try to package something together to acquire Manning (Brady owner isn't trading him...nor should he) or should I be fine playing matchups in the playoffs? The Manning owner is pretty weak overall and could use help at all positions.

What kind of package would it take to acquire him? Roeth or McNabb and a WR or RB? I would hate giving up one of those RBs because I feel like he would be getting the better deal, but I guess starters > depth.

Jeff-

At QB I have Derek Anderson & Griese.

Anderson is at PIT this week. I can't imagine sitting him but the Steelers D is no joke.

Griese is at OAK, he has the better matchup...BUT he is no Derek Anderson. Wow, can you believe we are able to talk about Anderson like that? What a great surprise he has been.

Anyway, Losman is at Miami. Will he keep the starting job? Is he a better option than Griese or do you consider them a push?

Thanks again.

I hope you won this past week. I would not consider Losman under any circumstance. Greise versus Anderson is an interesting choice. I want to see how Pitt does tonight before saying "yaeh" or "nay" on Anderson. I do think Griese will have a good game. It may not be a huge game, but definitely serviceable. I would guess 250 pass yds, 2 tds and a pick. Oakland lost their best cornerback yesterday to a season-ending knee injury. The Raiders look pathetic and could fold any time.

I think Ben will be good enough most weeks. If you are wanting an upgrade for this season, consider trading for Anderson. You might have to give up Leinart, but Anderson is playing well. Until you know more about Chad Johnson's head, I would not trade a receiver. Even if then, Holt would be the guy I would move just to keep your team young. If you want to make a move for Peyton, I would offer: McNabb, Holt and Selvin Young. I do not know if it would be enough. I would not part with any other RB, other than possibly KJ. But, Anderson will produce equal (or greater) to Manning most weeks. Anderson is in a strange place in that he is scoring well, but could be replaced at the end of the season for Quinn.

I hope that your sports weekend has been a good one! :D

I thought Saban was the under dog in that game.

First year dynasty player, looking to add a quarterback. I have Schaub, Griese, Warner and Leinart on IR. Right now I'm in the middle of the pack with a chance to make the playoffs but in reality my goal was to build for the next few years, as of now I'm a game out of first in my division (12 team league 3 div.).

I made an offer for Hasselbeck (owner posted he is looking to move him) offering Griese and a 2nd round 2008 draft pick. The counter offer was a first round pick, being this is the first time playing in a dynasty I'm not sure of the value of draft picks. Do you think Hasselbeck is worth a middle first round draft pick?

Do not give your 1st round pick unless it is for Brady or Manning. One guy to try to acquire is Derek Anderson. Offer his owner Leinart straight up and see what he says. If he wants more, offer Warner and a 2nd round pick.

Thanks for the reply Jeff, also used your dynasty rankings as a draft reference this year! Still trying to figure out the value of draft picks. One of the top teams traded their first round pick for G. Jennings, I thought this was too much to give up, but Jennings has been producing??The Anderson owner has no other quality QB's so he will not go for that, still trying to get Hasselbeck for a 2nd round pick.

What is the record of the guy that has Anderson? I ask because if not very good, I might offer Leinart and Warner. Leinart has more value in years 2008 +.I would not overpay for Hasselbeck. He is an average fantasy passer, who has some decent games. He will not outproduce Griese by much.

Anderson owner is 1st in his division and 2nd overall. I think Hasselbeck and Seattle will be more of a throwing team with Alexander becoming a shell of who he used to be. I take it you do not think Leinart will live up to expectations?

I feel like we have seen the best Leinart can do. But, to trade him now is selling low. Leinart has been in an ideal situation with two great receivers, but still not really startable.

Leinart is a guy, imo, that has more name value than value based on his fantasy production. How is the Favre owner doing? I respect your feel for Hasselbeck and think you should go with him if you like his upside and can acquire him reasonably.

Favre owner stated he is looking to get rid of a QB, he also has Brees, Clemens, and Quinn. We have a deep roster 22 players and he is looking for a RB. My RB's are:AD

K. Jones

Benson

B. Jackson

So, the other owner has three young QBs and Favre. He will want to dump the old man. I would offer Brandon Jackson for him. He is not worth any of your top three rbs. You could also offer him Leinart for Favre.

You would really give up Jackson for Favre?? I paid way too much in our auction to get Jackson so maybe I'm holding out more faith than I should in him still being the guy in GB. Do you feel strong about Halls chances in Denver like some of the other FBG's top brass? Since he is already deep at QB and has not started Favre once, would Hall or Wright with a 2nd or 3rd be an option?

Well-I WON in one league and beat the undefeated owner-so he & I are tied for the number 1 spot now.

I lost to my brother tonight by a little over 6 points-Crayton's DONUT hurt & the Steelers D went off against the Ravens-

he had them and now he is still in the top slot with me just one win behind.

So-I would have liked to win in both leagues but at least I batted 500 for the weekend-

I am really torn about keeping Travis Henry & Selvin Young. I am curious about which of the 2 backs you like more. I am leaning towards Young because of Lynch's injuries and suspension issues.

Should I just chill with them both or would it be smart to drop Travis Henry for one of the following defenses on the waiver wire--

I am worried about Anderson putting up numbers on the Steelers-should I be?

Would I be crazy not to trade Thomas Jones and Santonio Holmes (or Galloway) for Reggie Bush?

12 team redraft that starts 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, RB/WR, TE, K, D.

Typical FBG scoring but with yardage bonuses and 1 pt per 3 receptions.

My team:

Big Ben/Hasselbeck

B Edwards, J Galloway, S Holmes, R White, S Moss, C Henry

Offer Wright and a 3rd and see where it goes. If you like Jackson, then offer a 3rd and one of the other two. Favre only helps for this year, so the hard part is not overpaying. Favre is playing great though. I am not a lover of Hall. I think he is just average compared to most around here. I am not a Selvin-lover either. With either Denver RB, it is only for this season. They will address RB in offseason.

I would do that in a heartbeat. With Henry back, you will not need Holmes much and the upgrade at RB is huge. I have been anti-Jones for a while. THe Jets are pitiful running the ball.

WEEK 10

TEAM A

QB (1)

Girese @ OAK He gets a good matchup, coming off a bye. Pitt pass defense looked very strong last night.

RB (2)

Reggie Bush v STL

Kevin Jones @ ARI

K Watson @ BAL (The Ravens D looked horrible tonight-Rudi didn't do much this Sunday)

Really torn between Jones & Watson

KJones easily for me. He gets a decent matchup and Rudi might be improving health-wise. Also, Baltimore was strong against the run last night, just gave it up in the air. Watson could catch a few balls and produce, but Jones is the man in Detroit.

WR (3)

Reggie Wayne @ SD

Housh @ BAL

Crayton @ NYG

Berrian @ OAK

Wayne and Housh are easy. I would lean to Berrian because of the good matchup. The Giants are coming off of a bye week and should give the Cowboys a little extra problems.

TE

Gonzo v DEN

Heath Miller v CLE

I think you go with Gonzo every week, especially with LJ out. They will go to him early and often.

DEF

Dallas @ NYG

INDY @ SD

Indy Defense played well Sunday. I like them versus Rivers.

TEAM B

QB

Tony Romo @ NYG

Griese @ OAK

Would be hard to sit Romo. The guy is playing great.

RB (2)

M Lynch v MIA

Steven Jackson @ NO

K Jones v ARI

K Watson @ BAL

T Henry @ KC

Selvin Young @ KC

Lynch and Sjax (check to make sure he is healthy) are the choices for me.

Chris Henry @ BAL

Wayne, Henry, and Curtis.

That is a tough one, but I would do it. You upgrade both positions. Alge is out for a couple mroe weeks. I am not a Clemens believer as of yet. At lest Kitna should not cost you games. But, I do expect Bulger to bounce back for the remainder of the year. Kitna still would give you another option. You cannot really rely on Campbell.
