wannabee Strategy Thread (2 Viewers)

Hey Jeff, another fun one for you. My team as currently constructed.

QB: Garrard, Mcnabb

RB: Lynch and Jackson, Bradshaw, Coffee, Ward, Peterson

WR: White, S.Smith (Car), A. Bryant

TE: Daniels

DST: PHI

The problem is that White, Smith, Mcnabb and PHI are on a bye. I have a trade offer of Jackson for Garcon on the table if I wish to take it. What do you think? It would balance out my team a bit and Jackson's value should fall a fair bit with Lynch returning. It is a gamble no doubt.

I was also considering dropping Ward for a bye DST. Alternatively, I was considering dropping no one, throwing week 4 (I'm 2-1 right now) and just accepting that I drafted myself some poor bye weeks and must pay the price. Even in the ideal scenario, I only have two WR's to play instead of 3.

So, what do you do? Do you throw the week (I play a pretty strong opponent). Do you drop players and try to make a go of it?

I would prefer not to drop Coffee, because until the Buf situation dies down, I think he will be integral to my team for week 5, but again, your opinion is very much appreciated.

which Peterson is that? If Chicago, I would dump him for a WR. No way would I move FJax for Garcon at this time. I would dump APeterson and Ward for a WR and a def or two WRs, depending on whether you think the waiver wire wr will outscore the defense.

Jeff,

I've got Donald Brown, and while I think he wil be in a 40/60 split with Addai, or possibly 50/50 split if he gets lucky, the fact is he isn't doing much for my team and is a weak flex play.

Here is my team (standard scoring starting 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 2 RB/WR flex, K, D):

McNabb, T Edwards

LT2, SJax, Moreno, Lynch, D Brown, L McCoy

R White, Colston, B Edwards, Ward, Burleson

Folk

Giants D

Here is the Addai owners team:

Manning Brothers

Gore, Addai, Benson, Hightower, Choice, Norwood

Boldin, V Jackson, Hester, Muhammad

Kaeding

Vikings D

Do you see a possible trade? I'd love to grab Benson or Vincent Jackson. He is short a WR this week.

Also, would you rather start Shaun Hill or Trent Edwards this week?

No, it's Adrian Peterson (guess I should have put him up front). The owner also has Manningham, should I try Fjax for him? Also, knowing that it's AP, what do you think? Just hold and throw the week?

Jeff its been awhile since I have posted here in the thread. I have a tough choice to make at RB. Its tough because so far my #1 and #2 RB have been killing me. That would be Steven Jackson and Matt Forte. Last week Willie Parker went of on my bench and I have now grabbed Coffee off of waivers. I think Forte will be O.K. against the Lions but Jackson against the 49ers defense concerns me as they limited AP last week. Meanwhile Coffee faces the Rams defense and Parker gets the Chargers. Who do you like in week 4? I start 2 RB's in a standard non PPR league.

Thanks in advance

Need 2 WR (no PPR, 20 yds/pnt, 6 pnts/TD)

Ochocinco @ CLE (My opponent has C. Palmer)

R. Williams @ DEN

Sims-Walker vs TEN (w.w. pickup today)

hi jeff,

an owner dropped john carlson and i am not sure if i should put in a claim. if hasselbeck were QB, i would feel like its a no brainer. not sure how much longer he will be out...

i currently have greg olsen as well as todd heap already. we must start one TE, no flex. 1 pt per 10 yds, 10 pts per TD.

both heap and carlson have the same bye week - so this would seem to be the logical choice to swap out. i guess i keep thinking about Heap of year's past which has me on the fence.

hope all is well.

TIA

I would keep the buff rbs and only look to drop ward and go from there. I would lose the week rather than moving a rb might need later on

Forte for sure. I assume the Bears will want him to have a big game sooner or later. Check his health on Friday just to be sure. Coffee is a great play this week. I would start these two. At least you have depth. Parker is hurt w/ turf toe and the 49ers have a stiff def.

I think I would hold tight for now. I dont love any of those players. Wait a week and see if better kickers are available next week. To replace witten, just wait and look at matchups. I think Fells is a fluke. I would lean lewis but wait.

dump heap for carlson. hasselbeck will be back soon enough.

There are a couple of players of interest. Your team seems young an a year or two away from being real competitive. That happens a lot with teams taken over. If you are wanting WR help in next 1-2 yrs, Driver and Mason look to be good options, esp if cheap. MSW is another decent option but injury bug is tough for him to shake. LRobinson is gone for season w/ broken leg. Choice is the one RB I think I would invest in. He looks to be a budding star.

Hey, I hope you are pleased with the FBG product. On your league, I agree with your thoughts. I am in a comparable league and I had to narrow my "dynasty window" since a WR like Calvin Johnson gives you no added benefit than Randy Moss or Reggie Wayne who are in their 30s. This is the key, imo. Pick up the underrated guys that may have only a year or two left. This is prob the case more at WR and QB than RB. A guy like LJ or Thomas Jones, etc will not help you that much anyway. In my experience, the key is to find a balance between upside guys and older players. The other thing is you know you can get cheap WRs like Driver, Ward, etc to fill in WR2/3/4 while others are chasing the younger players. But, at RB, you will need one stud and some upside players like Charles, Davis, etc. At RB, it is much easier to trade for a Benson or Leon Washington as RB2. Also, what are the considerations if you have a player under contract and he is worthless? What does it cost to cut him? I am thinking of the older players in particular. Have a good one.
Hi Jeff, if i cut a player i have to pay his contract till the end. So, for instance, if i cut Jamaal Charles (2YC - 0.5 M) i will recover the 2 Contract Years but i will have a cap Penalty of 0.5 M for each year (but if someone picks him hip before the start of Year two, i can avoid the penalty)I'm going to write you here my offensive player list, so maybe you can help me with your FF wisdom.*** (Salary Decrease of 1/2 every year) ***QB - Matt Ryan - 2 CY - 3.0 M Cap (Rookie Option - At the end of the Contract I can keep him for 2 more years)QB - Michael Vick - 2 CY - 2.5 M Cap RB - Felix Jones - 2 CY - 4.0 M Cap (Rookie Option)RB - LeSean McCoy - 3 CY - 8.0 M Cap (Rookie Option)RB - Jamaal Charles - 2 CY - 0.5 M CapRB - James Davis - 2 CY - 5.5 M CapWR - Percy Harvin - 3 CY - 4.0 M Cap (Rookie Option)WR - Josh Morgan - 3 CY - 0.5 M CapWR - Eddie Royal - 3 CY - 0.5 M CapWR - Laveranues Coles - 1CY - 1.0 M CapTE - Todd Heap - 1 CY - 2.0 M CapTE - Travis Beckum - 3 CY - 0.5 M Cap§§§Interesting Players Availables§§§QB - Shaun Hill / Kerry Collins / Kyle Boller / Josh Johnson / Derek AndersonRB - Larry Johnson / Le'Ron McClain / Glen Coffee / Tashar Choice / Jerome Harrison / Rashad JenningsWR - Donald Driver / Laurent Robinson / Derrick Mason / Mike Sims-Walker / Nate Burleson / Chris HenryTE - Jermicheal Finley / Ben WatsonWhat Would You Do? One last question Jeff..Can you please rank me in order the players you would drop?I.e. 1 - (lower ceiling) - Earl Bennet...P.S. Thank you very much, i know forum is for free but it makes FBG even better... You're awesome!
I am happy to help. Thank you for the kind words.Beckum - prob a yr away, but I like him longtermVick - under contract for one more season in Philly and does not have same pizzaz once hadThose would be my first two. After that, probably look at the WRs, either Morgan or Bennett. Bennett I would drop before Morgan. It appears Bennett has been passed by Knox in the lineup.
Updated my roster with the trade Royal + Coles for Breaston + Bennett..Now there's another offer on the table.2011 First Round pick for 2011 First Round Pick and Mandenhall. His Starting Lineup so far isQB - Drew Brees - 2 YCRB - Steven Jackson 2 YCRB - Micheal Turner 1 YCWR - Houshmandzadeh 2 YCWR - Wes Welker 2 YCTE - Antonio Gates 2YCthis team is not a contender only because of his poor IDP decisions, and even if i want to be aggressive during Free Agency, thanks to Franchise Tags the Top Tiers WR and RB are not going to be Free Agent this year. For this reason, i can expect my 2011 First Round Pick to be around 1.03/1.06 and his First Round Pick to be around 1.07/1.12. His Mandenhall worth this downgrade?Thank u!P.S. Consider that to Add him, i would need to Cut James Davis or Jamaal Charles in order to free some contract years. Who would you cut?

Which two should i start this week ? I like Coffee and Moreno

Coffee vs STL

T Jones @ NO

C Taylor vs GB

K Moreno vs Dal

Sproles @ pit

L Johnson vs NYG

Who a better play this week ?

B Edward vs CIN

J Gage @ JAX

I do not think I would do this. Mendenhall is not THAT much better of a prospect over Davis/Charles to warrant the downgrade of picks. Also, when you move your first, it makes you alter your decisions. I think I would just stay the course. Mendenhall would not help you that much anyway. It is probably Mewelde Moore that will benefit if Parker misses time.

I love Coffee this week. The other RB is a tough one. I do not like Jones nor Chester nor LJ. Moreno and Sproles are tough calls. They each will face tough matchups. Dallas is tough to run on and so is Pitt. I, too, think to go with Moreno, esp if LT is back ... making Sproles a tough one to start. Is Sproles is the starter in SD, he might be tough to sit this week.

Hey Jeff, I'm facing a must win this week and have some excruciating line-up decisions facing me in my non-PPR.

At RB, I need to start two amongst: Coffee, DMC, Moreno, Grant, Rice, LT

I'm leaning Coffee and DMC, although DMC worries me a bit. But I might need a home run somewhere.

At WR, I'm starting Moss and 85, and need to pick a third amongst Hester, Driver, and Manningham. This one has my head spinning. I guess projections say I run Manningham out there again or maybe Hester, but it all seems dicey.

My RB and WR depth has had me leaving points on the bench all season, unfortunately.

I think three are easy calls (at least with the percentages. I would start Coffee, Moss and Chad without question. At RB2, it is a tough call. Grant, LT, Rice and Moreno have tough matchups. With McFadden, you are hoping for him to break a long one. I guess McFadden. He or Moreno might be best bets. Grant could score, but will find it tough to run on Minny. At WR3, another tough choice. Manningham and Hester have great matchups while Drive has been hot. I think I would roll with either Hester or Manningham in hopes of a huge game. I do not like relying on Hester, but he might have a huge game like Santana did last week.

Hey Jeff,

Need RB and WR3 help this week (league settings in signature)

Need to start 2-- Barber/Choice (whoever plays), Larry Johnson, Lynch, or D Brown

Right now leaning towards the Cowboy and LJ

Need to start 1 WR- Bennett, Wade, Clayton(TB), or Galloway

I like Bennett's match-up so leaning there.

Thanks,

Finn

need 2 of 3 WR in a PPR league

Deverey Henderson vs Jets

Eddie Royal vs Dallas maybe playing catch-up at home?

Kevin Walter vs Oakland

Also

PPR

Addai vs Seattle or Chester Taylor vs GB or Michael Bush vs Houston - NEED 1

Hey Jeff, need help with a possible trade

12 team H2H PPR scoring

1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF

QB: Romo, Sanchez

RB: Chris Johnson, Ronnie Brown, Leon Washington, J. Forsett, T. Choice

WR: Moss, Vincent Jackson, D. Bowe, M. Manningham, Ted Ginn

TE: Cooley, Heap

K: Lindell

DEF: PHI, JAX

I have had several teams inquiring about Moss. One guy offered Forte straight up for him. The possible injury with Moss concerns me but trading him leaves me thin at WR. I am realling trying to move Ronnie Brown and if I could get a good WR for him the Moss trade would make sense. Other notable players on the team that offered Forte are Slaton, Flacco, Derrick Mason, Boldin, Steve Smith(NY), Rivers, Addai.

Another team has MJD, Colston, P. Manning, R. Bush as notable tradings pieces. Should I stay put or make a move. Again, Moss' back concerns me a bit but unless i deal Brown for a WR I don't think I make this trade.

Thanks

Just a couple of position questions this week in my PPR league:

RB(2)

APeterson v GB

CJohnson @ JAX (White is banged up I heard)

RBush v Jets

WR(3)

Calvin Johnson @ Chi (Will he bounce back?)

Manningham @ KC (Will Eli look deep?)

Cotchery @ NO (I know my BOYS D is playing better but so has he)

Mason @ NE (The Ravens have been looking good, Mason had a big week...but back to back vs the PATS?)

That's it for now my friend!

THANKS!

Hi Jeff

In our NON ppr league WR's get 1 pt per every 10 yards and 6 pts per TD.

How would you rank these WR's for a NON PPR league?.

1. Andre Caldwell (Cin) @ Clev

2. Bobby Wade (KC) vs NYG

3. Kelly Washington (Bal) @ NE

4. Meachum (NO) vs NYJ

5. Josh Morgan (SF) vs STL

Also who would you start this week?

Thanks....

Who do you like this week Jeff?

S. Jackson a given, but need 2 more out of these:

Slaton ....letting me down.

Benson

P. Thomas

G. Coffee rated high this week

Rivers or Garrard

It would be tough for me to sit Coffee this week vs the Rams. I like a couple of the others but I think Coffee has a huge game.

Peterson and Johnson easy with NO facing the Jets. I like Manningham and Cotchery to have good weeks. Calvin (with the Lions in catch up mode) vs Mason in a tough matchup). I would go with Calvin for hope of a huge game.

You have a good team. I worry more about the matchup vs the Ravens than I do Moss' back only because it hurt him last week and he had a good game. Even though I think you have good depth at WR to trade Moss, it would not help you ... because you lose the ability to start Brown. Forte is not enough of an upgrade over Brown to lose Moss. Now, one offer you could make (even though I do not know it would be accepted): Brown/Moss/Choice for MJD/Colston

Walter for sure at WR. Royal is hurt so I would go with Henderson and hope for a big scoring play. At RB, I would go with Addai, he will be the goal line back. Bush would be next with a soft matchup but less of a chance to have 100 yds.

I, too, would go with Bennett over Wade. He could have a decent game vs the Lions. I do not like Lynch this week until we know more about his workload. With Brown, you never know what his role will be. With LJ, he has a tough matchup, but could have a big game any week. I think he is safest and has the best chance to have a scoring run.

Jeff,

Need some help on who to start this week. Which two would you start between Lynch, D Brown, LT2, and Burleson (standard scoring)?

Burleson has been hot so I would go with him even with a tough matchup. Of the RBs, hard to sit LT. I would wait on Lynch since I think FJax will have the bigger role this week. DBrown vs LT is a tough one, but I would go with the better RB.

Jeff, my team looked good at first, struggling now though. PPR redraft; 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 RB/WR, 1 TE, k, def. Here is my roster:

Palmer

Sanchez

Rice

McFadden

Hightower

LJ

AJ

Moss

Colston

Desean

SSmith (nyg)

MSW

Carlson

Comments:

-- My team is 2nd in points, 1-2 though. Ugh.

-- I have way more than enough WRs. That was by accident. I didn't realize all 3 of my studs would end up being good, desean has been nasty, and SS and MSW have been great WW picks.

-- Noone will trade in my league. I've been trying mostly to get a RB for Desean. Tried for deals involving Lynch, RBush and Moreno. Got denied all offers, no offer back. Just not such an active league.

Questions:

-- is Reggie Bush for Desean Jackson a net plus for me? That owner has denied everything else I have thrown at him. He won't do that one. He starts a TE in his flex spot but says he doesn't want another WR. ugh.

-- Should I just drop LJ at this point? I want a RB wtih upside. Choices on WW are: Michael Bush (dropped him, not crazy about OAK right now), Chester Taylor, and Mewelde Moore.

-- Should i keep looking for offers for Desean? Nothing is working out and won't want to look like a desperate owner. How necessary is this for my team?

My current DST is the Ravens, Would you drop SD (DST) to pick up Moore or Mendenhall and then would you start either in place of Addai/Chester Taylor (flip flopping both at RB 2 ALL WEEK)

PPR LEAGUE

Hi Jeff,

For a standard scoring, plus 1/25 return yard, league, which Jets RB TJones or Washington do you see as the better play (@NO)? My feeling is that carries are pretty close, and with the Saints likely scoring at least FGs a lot, Washington will have a chance for a lot of return yardage. What do you think?

Also, does either NYG receiver, Smith or Manningham (@KC), warrant a start over Wayne (vs. SEA) or VJax (@PIT)? I really like the matchup vs. KC but it's hard to bench my super-stud WRs for slightly less super but still studly WRs. I've been trying to unload my WR depth for upgrades elsewhere but so far no one is biting.

Different league, standard scoring:

Pick 2 RBs:

MJD (vs. TEN)

Ronnie Brown (vs. BUF)

JJones (@IND)

Coffee (vs. STL)

Thanks!

Jeff,Need some help on who to start this week. Which two would you start between Lynch, D Brown, LT2, and Burleson (standard scoring)?

I would start mewelde (assuming fwp sits like it looks now) over those two in a ppr

I like Leon this week as the Jets might be playing from behind, and Leon is in for passing downs. For the WRs, I like the NYG WRs, but hard to bench VJax who is tearing it up or Wayne who has an awesome matchup. Look what the Bears did to Seattle last week and think what Peyton and company will do. I would start MJD and Coffee. Coffee might be the best bet of the four. All are decent plays this week.

Heya Jeff~

I'm doing well this year so far, how are things with you? I have a quick choice for ya involving Lynch who I know is just coming back and we would like to see how involved he is in the offense. My question is Lynch or Royal at FLEX?? The bye is killing me so these are my only options at flex. I am leaning toward Lynch because a RB is the obvious choice. I see Royal is banged up too. What do you think about it? Thanks man, and good luck this week!!

~Sean

Quick question:

1PPR, I need to pick a RB2

I am starting Sjax

The remaining backs:

Moreno

McGahee

LJ

Turner (bye)

Leaning Moreno, but many here have voted McGahee, would like to hear your thoughts.

New to ff & am loving FBG!

1) Is Celek worth picking up a 2nd TE only to cover Celek's bye this week?

If I drop someone, it'd be Devery or Garcon - unless you see something.

2) Who would you pick up as a bye-fill in TE?: H. Miller, Heap, Watson, Rosario, Mercedes, Fells

My roster

K Smith

P Manning

Desean

Hines Ward

Ray Rice

Willie Parker

Kevin Walter

Garcon 8th round

Mewelde

Devery Henderson - 11th round

Sanchez

Buffalo D

Celek

MSW

S Smith (NYG)

John Carney

*Keeper league.

Leaning toward dropping Devery since it seems like he's so hit or miss.

Thanks a ton, I'm hooked!
