Hi Jeff – Ochocinco for Addai?

Got a note from an owner who might be interested in Addai for one of his WRs. I'm weak at WR, so would love an upgrade here, and since either Lynch or Addai is generally my flex player, I could trade one for depth and a potentially better playoff roster.

Addai has been playing very well lately, with Donald Brown out a couple of weeks. Lynch, my other flex option, has been underwhelming. I think I’d prefer to trade Lynch rather than Addai, but I may not have that option. I see from your reply to atcdav above that you see Brown coming back, and potentially being a threat to Addai’s numbers anyway. So does that mean that Addai is a "sell high"?

1. What do you think of Addai for Ocho? Assuming I have to give up either Addai or Lynch, and with Addai probably being the hotter commodity, this may be as good as I can do.

2. If he says no to Ocho, but instead offered Hines Ward for Addai, would a counter of Lynch for Ward be reasonable? I assume he doesn’t want Lynch, so this may not make any sense.

3. Or, since both Ocho and Ward are better than my WR2 now, maybe I just do this for either one of them and be done with it?

I am not a huge Charles fan but I still would not do it unless McFadden was similar priced to Charles. Both are very risky ... so need to be cheap.On the WRs, I like Jackson more right now.

Sammy Morris is on our WW, along with Kevin Faulk, Leonard Weaver, Jerome Harrison, Ladell Betts, and Kolby Smith. Do any of them ring your bell?

I just traded away one of my RBs, and would like to have another just in case. I’m thinking Morris. What say you?

Betts will be the hot pickup, but I feel he’s probably short term, maybe a week or two til Portis is back.

Faulk does well on third downs, but it seems like Sammy would be a better long term bet.

Cleveland is so bad, and if they change from Lewis, Harrison may get the ball, but with nowhere to go.

Weaver was a great FB in Seattle, but I can’t imagine him doing anything consistently in Philly.

KC is so bad that I can’t imagine either Charles or Smith being worth much.

Deangelo Williams for D. Avery, my 1st 2010, 1st I picked up from another team, my 2nd 2010.

I currently hold the 4th and last playoff spot with really likely only 1 threat behind me with 5 games to go with a game lead and tiebreak advantage. If I make the playoffs, my pick would be 9-12 depending on finish. Pick I picked up is a non-playoff team. Sits about 4-5 right now but wrinkle is we do an NBA style weighted lottery system. That pick (and mine if miss playoffs) could be a #1 or #2 if lucky (only 1 and 2 are lottery, rest fall to worst record and on).

Obviously it would benefit me highly to finally have a starting RB that isn't named Julius Jones. Having Stewart already means I am even covered in injury. My 1 RB requirement would be in its best shape easily to be covered. While Avery doesn't start for me, I do like him as a player so my initial reaction is that with 2 1sts, I am giving too much. Not a huge college guy though so maybe I am over valuing the picks. It just feels too much right now like I am pulling a Ditka for Ricky draft move.

My first reaction is to offer him the 2nd plus let him chose 2 of the 3 that he wants out of Avery and the 2 1sts. Would that be a low ball counter? Should I just take what's on the table and not counter because maybe the original would not get back on the table?

I would definitely counter since RBs do not get PPR. I think I would offer Norwood plus two of the three and the 2nd. I would try to give Avery and one of the firsts preferably. But, any combination is still a solid offer with your "lottery" draft. If nothing works, then you can accept that offer.

So, i need a little help picking between Joe Flacco and Tony Romo. Your rankings have Flacco just ahead of Romo...but Romo's been on fire lately and Flacco has cooled off so i'm hoping for a little conversation on why one should be started over another. I like Romo against my Pack, which hasn't played great down the stretch but Flacco torched the Browns earlier in the year and this could be a nice rebound game for him after last week. Help me pick a winner this week

Scoring is pretty high:

1 comp = 0.1 pts

25 pass yds = 1 pt

1 pass td = 6 pts

1 rush td = 9 pts

300+ yds = 3 bonus pts

Distance matters: +3 bonus points for passing TDs from 13 - 42 yds, +6 bonus points for 43 yds or longer.

I would start Romo this week just for upside and I would take Flacco long term. I like riding the hot hand with QBs, especially against a struggling defense. I would be worried that Flacco passes little and Rice gets all the love.

Hey Jeff whats up? so i'm just updating you on my league (i'm sure you get so many questions you don't remember leagues) but this is the league where the qb's are important and i was talking about the board bets. 1 thing working in my favor right now is in my league. The bet about Michael turner being top 12 is looking pretty good. as like i said he's jumped everyone in front of him to become the number 10 rb in our league. he's also slated to have a good game this week. any ways. in my league remember the 7-1 team i was telling you about? and remember my uncles team i was talking about thats on a hot streak? well like i said before my uncle has came from the worst team in the league at 0-5 to a 4 game winning streak to beat 2 of the Number 1 seeds at the time and currently the number 1 and Number 2 teams in our league. he's on fire man but currently sitting in 1 spot outta the playoffs on account of a tie breaker at #8. solid stuff going on in the league. I know its prolly pointless to you considering your not in the league but i thought id entertain you with stuff besides straight up i ask you a question and you answer it stuff. haha

Jeff thanks I see that white definitly has a high upside but the game where he went off for over 200 yards I benched him but I've started him in every other game and it hasn't been great production (out of my league scoring standards) I mean when you have welker and Fitzgerald dropping over 30 points in their games and white dropping less than 23 it's very annoying. And hey beanie wells is still in the fa pool. Is he worth a pick up over any of my other guys? I think his matchups in the fantasy playoffs are amazing but I don't want to get too cute and slip him in the starting lineup but I guess he's better on my team than someone elses who do you suggest I drop or should I stay away from him? Rice is worth a lot more than the defense swap to me, especially in a keeper league. I think you could get a ton for Rice from another owner. You have a good squad, I would wait it out. The price of a defense on a team out of it will actually go down as they fall further behind.

This is where value differs from personal opinion of talent. Wells will be worth more (barring injury) through the offseason), but I still like Brown's talent more. I would hold Wells until he blows up, then look to sell, if I could not get more at this time.

I think those values are good/close. Jones/Mason are tough. Jones' value is all about this season since he is a free agent next year. Mason is a very good PPR receiver for deeper leagues. He went for a 2nd in one of my PPR leagues this week. In the big, deep leagues Jones and Mason are worth quite a bit since they are good starters. On the TEs, I would avoid Fasano. Scheffler is a free agent after the yr, so there is added risk. I like Pettigrew and would easily take him for a 3rd/4th just because of upside as the Lion offense matures and improves.

Hi Jeff – I’ve got a couple of “long shots” for you to consider…

We’re less than a week away from our trade deadline, and if I could find a way to upgrade at QB, I’d sure like to do it. Here are a couple of teams that have good QBs, that might conceivably consider a trade.

Team 1 has Brees and not much else. I wonder about an offer of Brees and the struggling Slaton for Hasselbeck and Lynch, maybe with Berrian or Edwards tossed in as incentive. I’d be getting pretty thin at RB, especially with Slaton’s woes, but for the upgrade at QB, that could be an acceptable risk.

Team 1:

QB: Brees, Orton

RB: Slaton, Julius Jones, Fargas, Michael Bush

WR: Bowe, L Coles, Cotchery, S Smith (NYG), Manningham, TO

TE: Heath Miller

DEF: NYG, Dallas

K: Gostkowski

Team 2 also has a good QB in Brady, and also has one nice RB in DeAngelo Williams, but other than Williams, he is very weak at RB. Conversely, he is also very strong at WR with Colston, Welker, Driver, and Crabtree. My thought here is to see if an upgrade for him at RB is worth a downgrade at QB. This would be similar to the above with Brady and say Lendale for Hasselbeck and Lynch.

Team 2:

QB: Brady, Eli Manning

RB: DeAngelo, Maurice Morris, LJ, FWP, Lendale, Coffee

WR: Colston, Welker, Driver, Crabtree

TE: Gonzalez

DEF: Ravens, Bills

1. WR question... I started Hester on Thu, and Andre Johnson and Hakeem Nicks are on a bye week. I have D. Bowe, Sims-Walker, Breaston, and Malcom Floyd(I know - I know) to choose from for the other two WR spots.

I have heard a lot about how Sims-Walker will get shut down this week and the Bowe will too. I was leaning toward Sims-Walker and probably Bowe with Boldin getting more play time than last week, but it seems like with WR's lately whoever I put on the bench, they have a great week. Just wanted your thoughts on those two WR's.

2. Is Sanchez a better flex play than Breaston? I was leaning that way.

I would sit Calvin (as you suggest) and play the other three. They are good options with decent matchups this week. I love your RBs this week with their matchups. At tight end, I think I would go with Keller since Jax stinks against the pass. I would not worry about the Saint WRs after Colston. Tough to guess which will play well which week.
