wannabee Strategy Thread (1 Viewer)

Hi JeffI listened to your advice and picked up BenJarvus Green-Ellis and am glad I did. Thanks! I also stashed Keiland Williams but my 1st question involves him. Who would you want on your ( or mine actually) bench in a PPR league, Williams or Ryan Torain? Torain in available in my league but I am not sure who will be worth more in the next few weeks/months. One other question abot Greg Jennings. I caught the last 3 quarters of the MNF game and didn't see one throw or target for that matter to Jennings. I know I missed the TD in the 1st Quarter, but I watched a lot of that game and I couldn't even tell he was on the field. Did he piss off the coach or was he hurt or were they just shutting him down that much? I mainly saw Finley, Driver, and the odd 3rd or 4th WR get targets and catches, but NOTHING for Jennings. Is he ok to keep starting? My record is starting to worry me... ThanksScott
Hey Scott,on the Wash RBs, I think I would just avoid all of them unless an injury. Pick up someone in a better situation. As far as Jennings, give him this week vs Detroit. Chicago has playing back, giving the underneath stuff up to Driver, stopping Jennings. I, too, have been disappointed when starting Jennings, but it is hard to put him on your bench.

Jeff

One more question or two...

1) TE-wise, I have Heath Miller and Heap, (I know - I know), but Pettigrew and Moeaki are on the waiver wire, in a PPR league are either of these two worth picking up over the 2 so-so TE's I have now? I like them both.

2) Are any of the following better options than Keiland Williams going forward... Torian, Kuhn, Ringer, or Maurice Morris?

Thanks

Scott

Jeff,

Garcon was dropped last week and is available on the ww in a 12 team ppr redraft league. Start 2 wr no flex

My wr's are Marshall, Calvin, Royal, knox, Dez

Is he a better option than

Knox, Royal or Dez?

Question 2

My rb's are MJD, Mendenhall, Brandon Jackson, Spiller start 2 rb

Lynch is available on the WW is worth a pickup while dropping one of my wr's?

Thanks

Hi Jeff. I am in a 12 team dynasty league and need your advice. Scoring is 1 point for every 10 yds rush, 1 pt for every 10 yds rec, 1 point per reception, 6 pts per td rush/rec, 4 pts per td passing, -3 for fumbles/interceptions, 1 pt for every 40 yds passing, -1 pt for every pass attempt, 2 pts for every pass completion.

Currently, my only starting QB is Sam Bradford. I have Kolb on my bench. I inquired about Vick, and was given the following trade scenario: I give Ray Rice and my 3rd round pick next season for Ryan Mathews and Michael Vick.

With this being a dynasty league, I am looking at both current and long-term implications. What do you think?

Hi Jeff –Thx for the solid advice so far. I appreciate it.

I’m considering these options for Derrick Mason, my 4th WR behind Calvin, Brandon, and Ochocinco..

Darrius Heyward-Bey Oak/10: 2, 13, 11=26, 8.7 targets/game, 10 rec for 140 yards, 14yd/recept, 39% completion.

Mike Sims-Walker Jax/9: 2, 12, 8=22, 7.3 targets/game, 12 rec for 139 yards, 11.6 yd/recept, 55% completion.

Roy Williams Dal/4: 7, 7, 6=20, 6.7 targets/game, 12 rec for 191 yards, 15.9 yds/recept, 60% completion.

Derrick Mason Bal/8: 5, 6, 8=19, 6.3 targets/game, 7 rec for 82 yards, 11.7 yds/recept, 37% completion.

• DHB has some pretty good numbers the last two weeks. I don’t know what was up Week 1, but is he becoming a bigger contributor for Oakland? Pretty crummy completion percentage, but good targets.

• Sims-Walker was dropped. It’s hard to know what affect, if any, a potential QB change in Jax may bring. When he was good last year, he was very, very good, and he shows as a WR1 on their depth charts.

• Williams was terrific last week. Tough to start with Austin and Witten there, but one positive is that his bye week will have already passed.

• Mason seems to be less involved than these other three. But his targets continue to rise. Is there good news on the horizon?

What do your instincts tell you Jeff?

12-team NON-PPR redraft league. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 WR/RB Flex, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF. 16 player roster. Passing TDs = 4 pts, all others 6 pts. 1 pt for 10 yards rushing and receiving, 25 yards passing.

My Team:

QB: Eli, Ben

RB: Gore, Bradshaw, LT, R Bush, M Bush, Gerhart

WR: Calvin, Brandon, Ochocinco, Mason

TE: Keller, Olsen DEF: Atl K: Rackers

Jeff,

You like Maroney or Tolbert better? only for depth

Also leaning toward starting S. Moss and Floyd over Calvin and Colston this week(thoughts)?

Thanks

Heya Jeff~

I got beat up bad losing Grant. As of now my RBs are Best, Hillis, TJones, and Buckhalter. So obviously I need a pickup. Buckhalter seems to be the lame duck of the bunch. So who do you think I should pickup in his place? Otions are: BJGE, Lynch, Kuhn, L.Washington (we get pts for return yds) and Ringer among others.

Thanks!

~Sean

Hi Jeff,My team is pretty weak at WR (Team 1 below), so I've been shopping Arian Foster around for a WR. Another owner was crushed at RB when Grant and Matthews went down. He's got Roddy White and Andre Johnson and is offering AJ for Foster straight up. Should I be worried about AJ's injuries? I feel like White is the more solid option overall this year.Scoring is non-PPR, all TDs 6pts, 1pt/25 return yards. What do you think? Does it matter which WR I go for? Thanks!
I would prefer white, but aj would be ok, too. Just need to watch injury report closely with him and his ankle
Thanks. AJ's injury worsening this week and the owner not willing to part with White made me look elsewhere. I traded Foster straight up for Randy Moss instead, who I had pegged as my #1 WR pre-draft.What do you think about Moss' prospects moving forward? He's not getting a lot of catches or yards, but can he sustain his TD rate and make my trade worthwhile?

Hi Jeff

Standard PPR league

Which 3 WR's would you start in week #4?

1. Calvin (Det @ GB)

2. S. Moss (Was @ Phi)

3. TO (Cin at Clev)

4. DHB (Oak vs HOU)

Thanks

I love Miller after Ben gets back and Heap is fine until then. I love Ringer as a sleeper this yr with the large number of carries CJ is getting

since your team is young, I would not do that. You are selling Rice way too low. He is a young, emerging stud

Hey Sean, Hillis is a decent start this week. I would dump Buckhalter for BJGE and start him if best is out

dynasty I'd get Stafford and a 2nd next year (Projected 17-20th overall) 12 team league he gets Big Ben

PPR, 6 PER TD, -2INTS, 1PER 25 PASSING

My qb are: Rivers, Sanchez and then some backups.

He'd be throwing in Laurent Robinson too.

Jeff,

Friend of mine is asking for advice and I'm torn so I figured I'd see what you thought.

12 team PPR standard scoring

He drafted Flacco but has been using Orton.

got offered Favre and Calvin Johnson for Flacco and Steve Smith (nyg)

does he grab that or stick with what he's got? will flacco bounce back, is Calvin much of an upgrade over smith?

thanks!

Thanks for the help Jeff, noone bit on BJax on the last trade so here we go again. The McCoy owner is worried about the upcoming bye. He is offering McCoy for Wells and LT. I am struggling not to focus to much on the potential of my 2 guys. I have Bradford, Addai, Brown, BJax, LT and Wells we start 2 or 3 RBs with the flex. non ppr.

McCoy had 1 great week against Detroit but everyone seems to love him, you guys have him ranked as 8th best RB, he is averaging only 15 or so caries per week. LT is getting the same amount of carries, while I doubt he has a huge breakout game I think he will be solid every week. I am worry less about Greene than others ( I am also wrong a lot). Wells...seems like a lot of upside there, he was talked up a lot last year in the preseason. Tough choice for me but I am not really confident in my RB corp.

i would avoid favre, and the two wrs are close enough to hold tight

i do not like that for you at all. mccoy is not an upgrade over wells, not to mention lt

Hi Jeff,

I am in a 10 team .5 ppr league. 1 pt per 10 yd rush and pass. 6 pts.per TD including passing. Start 1 QB, 2RB, 2 WR, 1 RB/WR flex,1 TE, 1 DEF and 1 IDP. I am 1-2 after 3 weeks and am projected to lose my matchup this week as well. If this was your team where might you look to improve and how. Defenses score alot of pts in this league, why I have 2. I have thought about upgrading TE and DEF. However do you see other areas I might upgrade?

QB: Brees, M. Ryan

RB: P. Thomas, J. Best, M. Forte, M. Barber,

WR: R. Moss, H. Nicks, S. Moss, M. Wallace,

TE: J. Carlson, B. Celek,

DEF: Patriots, Seattle

K: doesn’t matter

IDP: D.J. Williams

To me rb is a weak spot with best and Thomas nicked. Defenses are unpredictable. I might look to package Ryan and mb3 for a good rb. What defenses are available?

12 team ppr…pick 2rbs, 2wrs, and a flex (rb/wr/te) out of this mess.

Rice @ pit (if healthy)

Foster @ oak (no brainer)

MSW vs Indy

Spiller vs Jets

Forsett @ st Louis

Damarius Thomas @ ten

Gaffney @ ten

Knox @ NYG

thx jeff

Hi Jeff – An owner has a bit of a week 5 bye problem, so I wonder if there might be something that could help us both?

Offer: Kind of thinking maybe his Welker and Miller (both on wk 5 bye) for my Mason and Olsen.

My thinking: I like my 3 WRs in Calvin, Brandon, and Chad. I would like to upgrade my WR4 though, and maybe my TE2. With both Welker and Ward on a bye, it’s possible he may consider swapping one of them. When Big Ben comes back, both Heath’s value and Ward’s value may increase.

I suppose he could come back with several counters.

• One could be Heath for Olsen straight up. Probably worth doing from my side even though it may look goofy that I’m trading him a bye week filler for no immediate advantage.

• Another might be Ward and Miller (both on wk 5 bye) for my Mason and Olsen. I’d prefer Welker, but if he did this, I’d probably take it too, since Ward with Ben back is probably a tad better than Mason.

• If he countered with Welker and Miller for Chad and Olsen, I’m not sure what I think of that.

I’d love your thoughts. Thanks!

Thoughts on that? We only start two----Standard Scoring

Hi Jeff,

14 team Dynasty league, standard scoring with no PPR but we do get 1pt/20yrds for return yards for each player, 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 WR, 1 TE, 3 flex(RB, WR or TE)

This is the first year for this league and I am currently 0-3.

My Team

QB's M. Stafford, J. Freeman, D. Garrard

RB's D. Williams, C. Wells, T. Hightower, C. Taylor, W. McGahee, B. Jacobs

WR's C. Johnson, M. Crabtree, H. Nicks, D. Bryant, L. Robinson

TE's K. Winslow, A, Hernandez

His team

QB's P. Manning, M. Hall

RB's M. Turner, J. Charles, L. Maroney, K. Derby, M. Morris

WR's M. Wallace, P. Harvin, J. Knox, J. Cribbs, J. Jones, S. Holmes, B. Tate

TE's A. Gates, R. Gronkoski

I have been offered M. Wallace & R. Gronkoski for Crabtree & A. Hernandez would you take this trade or just ride it out with the young players and hope within the next couple of years they plan out. When I drafted I wanted a young team and never throught that I would be 0-3. Is their a counter trade with this other team that you can see.

I would dump Buckhalter for either, esp garcon ... even if you have to wait a couple of weeks

no way on that trade. Of the defenses, I like Detroit a lot. They have scored well. Seattle was lucky last week with Leon Washington's game

I do not like this at all for you. I LOVE Wallace, but Crabtree is worth more. Plus, Hernandez is a stud. Do not trade him. This coming summer, he could be worth more than Finley

I've started the season 1-2. I have Eli and Favre as my qb's.

My running backs are Gore, McCoy, Matthews, and Cadillac.

I've been offered Brady and Spiller for McCoy and Favre.

Scoring: qbs:1pt/20yds passing, 1pt/10yds rushing, 6pts/td's

rbs: 1pt/10yds rush/rec, 6pts/td's, 1PPR

I think i could get Portis instead of Spiller.

Looking for advice/opinions.

thanks in advance thumbup1.gif

I have thought about upgrading TE and DEF. However do you see other areas I might upgrade?QB: Brees, M. RyanRB: P. Thomas, J. Best, M. Forte, M. Barber,WR: R. Moss, H. Nicks, S. Moss, M. Wallace,TE: J. Carlson, B. Celek, DEF: Patriots, SeattleK: doesn’t matterIDP: D.J. Williams
To me rb is a weak spot with best and Thomas nicked. Defenses are unpredictable. I might look to package Ryan and mb3 for a good rb. What defenses are available?
Thanks Jeff appreciate it. Defenses available are San Francisco, New York GiantsDenverCarolinaBuffaloWashingtonClevelandHoustonDetroitOaklandJacksonvilleOne guy willing to trade me ATL D for Ryan. He also has L. Tomlinson, C. Benson, R. Rice and C. Johnson for Rb's so he is RB heavy.
no way on that trade. Of the defenses, I like Detroit a lot. They have scored well. Seattle was lucky last week with Leon Washington's game
Thanks Jeff,I will check out Detroit D. How about this trade offer? I am looking to upgrade RB and DEF. I would give M. Ryan, M. Barber and M. Wallace for C. Benson, ATL def and Mark Clayton? Or would you make a different offer? Maybe Jets D instead of ATL?My team:QB: Brees, M. RyanRB: P. Thomas, J. Best, M. Forte, M. Barber,WR: R. Moss, H. Nicks, S. Moss, M. Wallace,TE: J. Carlson, B. that is a horrible offer for you since detroit has outscored jets defense in most leagues

I am in a .5 per reception redraft league. 10 teamer. I have RB issues this week. I could play J. Best who looks like he will go or pick up L. Betts, K. Darby (though I am playing Seattle D), or J. Kuhn. Who do you think might be the better play this week of the guys mentioned? I could also possibly trade Wallace for J. Forsett. What do you think of this?

My team:

QB: Brees, M. Ryan

RB: P. Thomas, J. Best, M. Forte, M. Barber,

WR: R. Moss, H. Nicks, S. Moss, M. Wallace,

TE: J. Carlson, B. Celek,

DEF: Patriots, Seattle

K: doesn’t matter

IDP: D.J. Williams

Jeff,

In my 12 team redraft league I have Romo on Bye this week. My backup is Vince Young (vs Denver). Bruce Gradkowski (vs Houston) is out there along with Alex Smith (@ Atlanta). I can only carry two QBs so my question is do I drop VY for Gradkowski or Smith or just stick with VY.

We get 6 pts for all TDs

1 pt per 10 rushing yards

1 pt per 20 passing yards

-2 pts per int and

-2 pts per fumble lost

Thanks Jeff,

-Eric

Hi Jeff. Week 4 WDIS. I'm 3-0, hoping to stay undefeated.

1 pt/20 rushing/receiving yards

1/2 pt per reception

6 pt tds

PICK ONE

LT

Green Ellis

Gaffney

Lance Moore

Leaning towards LT just because he's playing buffalo. Lance Moore put up pretty good stats though when bush was gone last year if I remember correctly.

Would you start Gaffney or Moore over Calvin Johnson? Doubt it but thought I might as well ask.

Thanks again for the help!

ok, now my own QB dilemma, which ironically involves the same guys as my friend.

10 team, 1/comp, 1/20 yds, 6 all TDs

I have Favre and Flacco. Obviously not working as planned. Favre's off this week, Flacco has Pitt.

---Do I roll w Joey or drop Favre for someone like Orton to start this week(and possibly forward)?

-other FA QBs are Bradford, Hasselback, Gradkowski, Young

same league

PPR, 1/10, 6 tds

start 2 RBs, have Ray Rice, Gore, Addai, McGahee

----go with Gore and whoever starts Rice/McGahee or use Addai?

start 3 WRs, have Jennings, Bowe, Nicks, Meachem, Jacoby

----Bowe's on a bye, who is my WR3 this week, Jacoby or drop Meachem/Jones for a FA?

-FA's available are Gaffney, Moore, Manningham, Evans, Branch, Hester

thanks man!

Best or pick up Betts as Pierre Thomas insurance

I would drop VY for Gradkowski. HOU is terrible as a pass defense

LT and even though Calvin has been frustrating, you have to start him
