wannabee Strategy Thread (4 Viewers)

Trying to figure out what to do with ADP in a dynasty where I don't really need him but where he could help me win a championship. I just traded Moreno and a 3rd for Desean Jackson.

I have Newton and Manuel at QB.

Charles, McCoy, Peterson at RB with Bryce Brown, Christine Michael, and Lattimire as backups.

WR are Desean Jackson, Welker, Marshall, Blackmon, Harvin, Hopkins, Harry Douglas.

We also play a K (1), DL (2), LB (3), DB (2) ... My defense is above average.

I'm looking at trading ADP for an upgrade somewhere but not sure how much he is/isn't worth. Do I just add him to a WR trade to get a WR upgrade, or should I just hold on and use him til he is worthless. Seems like that may be the best option at this point.

Jeff

Who do you like best of these? No ppr

Lynch. Murray. Morris

Need three. T smith. Tate, Johnson. Brown. Wright

Thanks

HUGE week!! Thanks in advance for the help.

PPR. Need 2 RBs, 2 WRs and a flex.

RB: Shane Vereen, Ben Tate, LeVeon Bell

WR: Brandon Marshall, Larry Fitzgerald, Roddy White

Who is the odd man out!?!?

Need to sit one of these guys:

Forte @ Philly (16th Rush D)

Murray @ Wash (19th Rush D)

Stacy v Tampa Bay (8th Rush D)

Moreno @ Houston (21st Rush D)

Hi Jeff, well my improbable run continues.

I'm thinking this will be a no-brainer but do I sit Chris Johnson for either Montee Ball or Jordon Todman?

Have a wonderful Christmas Jeff! Best to you and your family!

Jeff,

Interesting twist to this league. Players that score "out of position" points get double the score. Exampe - RBs who catch a TD get 12 instead of 6, QB's who run TDs get 12 instead of 6.

My starters that are locks:

QB - Luck

RB - McCoy

WR -

Flex -

Flex -

TE - Graham

My choices for WR and two flex - Chris Johnson, Danny Woodhead, Bobby Rainey, Keenan Allen, & Vincent Jackson

I am facing Brees, JCharles & I expect I will need some serious upside

Oh and TDs points are based on length. Charade 111 points :twitch:

Jeff - I live to play another week. Tucker came up huge on Monday night.

Now I'm playing for a championship. Couple of lineup decisions I'm mulling on Tuesday night. Standard scoring except ppr bonus after 5 catches.

(1) Cam against Saints or Kap against Atlanta? I'm actually torn on this one. Kap has the better matchup, it's Monday night, and the last game at Candlestick. But Cam got me to this point, so tough to sit him at home against a good but not great Saints D.

(2) Do you think McCoy gets a full workload on Sunday? I know there's a scenario where the Eagles might rest starters. I have L.Bell as an option to pair with JChuck. Might be over thinking this one.

(3) Need three WR - Andre, Allen, Amendola, and Crabtree. Do I roll with Triple A?

(4) Team D - I have Detroit v. Giants at home; Denver vs. Houston; Rams v. TB. Cleveland on waviers against NJ.

Thanks for the help this season. Much appreciated as always. You do a great job.

I would definitely go with Johnson (vs Jax) and Allen ... not sold on Rainey or Vjackson (even though StL has given up big yardage on ground this yr - tough on WRs tho). Woodhead is very dicey since he sees more touches when SD is behind and the chargers should be out in front of the Raiders from the get go ... but your scoring system makes me lean to he vs Rainey and would go with Rainey for upside. The Rams gave up big games to Murray and others and are the third best matchup for RBs in PPR. So, Chris Johnson and Rainey at flex and Allen at WR. Good luck

would go with Cam at home vs NO .... I like McCoy in a rebound game. Philly has to get him hot for playoffs. At WR, I think I would go with Crabtree over Amendola (but very close - could be talked into either side) since NE faces Baltimore and SF faces an Atlanta team that Kirk Cousins torched last week.

Hey Jeff, long time, no post!

I'm in the champeenchip, like anyone else hanging around right now, and I'm struggling on lineup decisions this week in one $$$ league and thought I might seek your help or views on who to start at flex & TE. Maybe you can let me know if some of my assumptions are off and who you think I should start, maybe even rank these guys?

******************

0.5 PPR - Flex (rb/wr/te):

Vereen @ BAL - my fantasy ace in the hole just got dropped on the floor last week, is NE that bad without Gronk? I was rolling with confidence here, but not now. Can BAL gameplan like MIA did to take him out? Worse thing was he was on the field, what the hell does that mean?

Jennings @ CIN - Magic with Cassel this year with a couple monster games, Cassel loved garbage time with Bowe in KC, this looks good, but I just sense I shouldn't rely on him and MIN at Cincy, why? Does it matter if ADP plays?

Todman vs TEN (if no MJD) - I looked into him last week, and he has a lot of great attributes and a good situation, just Jax & TEN sounds like a bleckh game, is this just not looking at it fairly?

Caldwell @ HOU (if no Welker) - I'm not sure why this isn't getting more attention, he steps in for Welker and boom he has a great night, 2 TDs; I guess the problem here is that the Broncos could just go in another direction (DT, Julius, Decker), or maybe they put Tamme in there instead? A piece of the DEN offense vs HOU in dome conditions? Smart FF people loved Tamme for the same reasons. What am I missing here?

J. Nelson vs PIT - no Rodgers, no thanks

A. Brown @ DET - after starting him with good results at RB2, I have been kind of writing him off last couple weeks, because of the matchup, because of Hillis at the goal line, because the NYG have gotten worse not better after getting better for a while. - However now it looks like Hillis might be out, Jacobs is already IR, so maybe Brown gets nearly all the touches, sees nearly all the snaps, and maybe sees the goal line carries again. But again the NYG have been dying, Manning and Gilbride can't maintain a drive, and it's the DET run defense.

Baldwin vs ARI (WW) - love this WR and his connection with Wilson, but I don't know, I think I just want a higher ceiling, could be a blowout though.

**************

0.5 PPR, TE:

Pitta vs NE - hated his lack of field time last 2 weeks, I just can't take watching the game and he's not even on the field.

Quarless vs PIT - two straight good, consistent games around 50 yards and a TD. Matchup? Flynn? He had 0 at half like a lot of Packers, have he and GB just taken advantage of two bad defenses in a row? He seems so low in FBG rankings, maybe no one sees this as a play or has no one noticed it?

Ertz vs CHI - great talent, two very good games in a row with the snowbowl anomaly (0/0/0) in the middle, is this a shootout in the making, he saw a lot of time last week so does that continue or is Celek in there all night to run block?

Eifert vs MIN - great passing matchup, no Gresham, but this didn't translate into 2X the targets the last time for Eifert last time this happened

Marc Lewis vs TEN - no Shorts, but needed as an end zone target, very few targets

Thoughts?

Many thanks, Happy Holidays - SID06

May go Fjax....kind of think the loss of Gronk really affecting the Patriots offense .

Hey Jeff,

Good problems to have, I know, but I could use your input on these players I keep flip-flopping on:

Standard scorinng (no-ppr)

Must start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1 Flex, etc.

Start 1 QB:

Foles v. decent Bears secondary

Cutler v. softer Eagles secondary

Dalton v swiss cheese Vikings (but concerned about consistency)

Start 2 RB:

Morris v Cowboys (hard to pass on this matchup)

L. Bell v. Packers

Moreno v. Texans (concerned about M.Ball)

FWIW, am starting Antonio Brown at Flex, other wise I could roll with all 3 of those RBs

thanks, dude

All different leagues. Scoring is PPR for WR and .5 for RB. TDs 6, pass TD 5.

Wilson vs Arizona or Dalton vs Minnesota

Fred Jax vs Miami or Steve Smith vs NO

Emanuel sanders vs GB or Greg Jennings vs Cincinnati.

Leaning Wilson, smith, Jennings

Jeff,

One more week, let's do it...

I need to start 4 and sit one of these in no PPR league...

ZStacy vs TB

Rainey @ StL

VJax @ StL

VDavis vs Atl

JThomas @ Hou

Thanks for helping me decide who to bench!

Hey Jeff,

Good problems to have, I know, but I could use your input on these players I keep flip-flopping on:

Standard scorinng (no-ppr)

Must start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1 Flex, etc.

Start 1 QB:

Foles v. decent Bears secondary

Cutler v. softer Eagles secondary

Dalton v swiss cheese Vikings (but concerned about consistency)

Start 2 RB:

Morris v Cowboys (hard to pass on this matchup)

L. Bell v. Packers

Moreno v. Texans (concerned about M.Ball)

FWIW, am starting Antonio Brown at Flex, other wise I could roll with all 3 of those RBs

thanks, dude
Foles is ranked highly by most

Bell and Moreno

Good luck

All different leagues. Scoring is PPR for WR and .5 for RB. TDs 6, pass TD 5.

Wilson vs Arizona or Dalton vs Minnesota

Fred Jax vs Miami or Steve Smith vs NO

Emanuel sanders vs GB or Greg Jennings vs Cincinnati.

Leaning Wilson, smith, Jennings
I might go FJax over Smith just thinking the CAR/NO game will be low scoring

Jeff,

One more week, let's do it...

I need to start 4 and sit one of these in no PPR league...

ZStacy vs TB

Rainey @ StL

VJax @ StL

VDavis vs Atl

JThomas @ Hou

Thanks for helping me decide who to bench!
I will say bench Rainey over VJax even though many RBs ran for big yds against the Rams so I am a little nervous. Close between the two Bucs for me. Good luck

Would you start Kaepernick vs Atl over Stafford vs NYG. Have started Stafford all year and now don't know if I should bench him for my championship game.

Hi Jeff,

Looking forward now to off-season trades in my league - looking to recoup some draft picks given up in trades throughout the regular fantasy season while also strengthening my existing team - it's already strong and this is where my problem lies in the deciding who to keep and who to trade for picks for next year's draft.

12 team non-PPR Keeper league - carry over 4 players

QB; RB; WR; WR; WR/RB; TE; K; DST; Bench x 7 = 15 total roster spots plus 1 IR spot

Keep 4 - players kept at any position cannot exceed starting roster spots for that position, i.e. can keep combination of max 1 QB; 2 RB; 3 WR; 1 TE, etc.

6-pt TDs at all positions

1-pt for 25 yards passing

1-pt for 10 yards rushing / receiving

Offseason trades including draft picks are allowed

Current Roster:

QB - Tom Brady

QB - Robert Griffin III

RB - Jamaal Charles

RB - Rashaad Jennings

RB - Trent Richardson

RB - Lamar Miller

WR - Calvin Johnson

WR - Josh Gordon

WR - Julio Jones (IR)

WR - Jarrett Boykin

TE - Jason Witten

TE - Lardarius Green

K -David Akers

K - Nick Folk

DST - Seattle

DST - St. Louis

League 'drafts' keepers in first four rounds of draft; so our first round pick is actually the 5th overall round of the draft.

I finished 2nd overall, so get 11th pick, snake-style draft.

I have the following draft picks:

1.11

5.11

6.02

6.06

7.11

8.02

8.04

9.11

9.09

10.02

11.11

12.02

13.11

14.02

15.11

I'm considering keeping Jamaal Charles; Megatron; Julio Jones and Josh Gordon.

I'm going to try to trade Brady and Griffin for high draft picks (remember that if I receive a 1st round pick, I'm actually using that pick in the 5th round of the draft) and then select the best available player with my first 3 picks, QB being one of those picks, ideally.

What do you think of this strategy and what would be considered a fair trade for Brady and Griffin - I want to get interest so don't want to highball but also want to get max value in the trade.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

Jeff,

Thanks for all the great information and assistance this year. I'm pretty much done until next year.

God Bless you and your family!

Rob

:thanks:

Hi Jeff,

I posted this in the forum, but would appreciate your opinion..

Which would you prefer and why? I think each pair has its advantages.

My opinions:

Lynch & Forte - win now, only 2-3 yr window

McCoy & Stacy - youth, competent combo for years

Charles & Lacy- seems to be a mix of younger than1st pair, but better performance now than pair 2

I like the strategy since there are several strong QBs for next year. I would also be willing to move QB + 6th for a 1st or 2nd. Just look to upgrade picks. Also, I would not tip your hand to leaguemates who you are keeping. Some assume everyone will keep a QB. I would also be willing to move Witten or Richardson for a pick upgrade, even if only a round or two.

You have a very good core groups of players to work with.

hey, how is it going? I think I like the McCoy/Stacy combo least, just due to lack of faith in Stacy longterm. I would probably go with Charles and Lacy. The rookie - when healthy - was putting up numbers not too far from Lynch.

Thank you for the reply, Jeff, it's good to see my thought process is on the right track!

Thanks Jeff.I believe that I am in the minority, as I am higher on Stacy & lower on Lacy than most.

One last question..

I own Lynch & Forte, and the Charles/Lacy owner decided to offer only Charles instead of both.

Who do you prefer going forward Lynch or Forte? He gave me my choice which RB to include in the deal.

**Update**

Traded Forte & Keenan Allen for JCharles

Thoughts?

Thank you for your opinions Jeff.

I like the deal for you. Charles is a difference maker.

Hi Jeff,

This is a 16 team PPR dynasty league with contract years and dollars. $1000 dollars to spend on players.

I was offered:

C.J. Spiller RB BUF - 2 years left at $55

I would give:

2.15 rookie pick

3.07 rookie pick

3.09 rookie pick

3.15 rookie pick

We can start anywhere from 2-3 RB's each week. I have Ryan Mathews - $83, Mark Ingram - $50, Marcus Lattimore - $27 and Knile Davis - $6 currently under contract on my team. Plus with the 4 1st round draft picks I would have to imagine I land at least 1 more RB if not 2 so is spending even more money on my RB position worth it? I feel draft pick wise that its a fair deal but I think with the RB's I currently have plus adding a couple more via the draft it might not be worth it. Especially considering that C.J. Spiller didn't exactly have an elite season.

I'm a team in rebuilding mode and I have 4 1st round pick, 1 2nd round pick, 5 3rd round picks, and 3 later round picks.

Would you take this offer?

TIA Jeff

Jeff,

Redrafting on Wednesday for my playoffs. Snuck in as the 4th (last) playoff team. Rules are as follows:

Each team drafts 10 players: 2QB, 2RB, 2WR/TE, 2 flex, 2PK;

Points are accumulated over 2 weeks, divisional and conference championship weeks (no super bowl);

Draft is NOT serpentine; as the 4th seed, I get the 4th, 8th, 12th etc picks (last in each round);

Standard scoring, no PPR; 1st week all 10 players count, 2nd week all remaining players count.

Since there are only 8 teams remaining in the NFL playoffs, all 8 QBs and all 8 PKs will be drafted.

My strategy is as follows:

If Manning, RWilson or Brady is available at 4th pick, grab a QB who is likely to get 2 games; if all 3 are gone (likely), hold off on QB until my last 2 picks and take whichever 2 are left, since all 5 look about the same to me (Kap & Cam greater chance of getting 2 games, Rivers and Luck likely to be in higher scoring games, Brees is, well, Brees). I don't see much value in drafting QBs early if the first three are gone.

Target players (and kickers) from Denver, NE, and Seattle, and if necessary, from SF and Carolina; avoid players from SD, Indy and NO, who are most likely to be one and done.

If I slough at QB, go RB/WR/RB/WR/PK/PK in an attempt to be ahead of the curve (rather than chasing) at all positions other than QB. If I get one of my three targeted QBs at the fourth pick (it won't be Peyton, for sure), I may take QB and still wait on my 2nd QB until the end of the draft; however, I then won't get my top choices at WR and RB.

If I follow this strategy, I'm likely to have QBs from one and done teams, and 7-8 players from the other teams. since Sig Bloom feels spreading my team out like this is not a great strategy, my alternate plan would be:

Pick a plausible upset (for example, SF over Carolina). Grab Kaepernick in the first round, then load up on as many 49ers as possible (in addition to Denver, Seattle and NE players). Hope the one game goes my way.

Interested in your thoughts. Thanks!

Hi Jeff, This is a PPR Dynasty League

I was offered:

Hakeem Nicks

Kyle Rudolph

5th round rookie pick

I would give:

rookie pick 1.12

Justin Blackmon

Is that enough for the 1.12 rookie pick and Justin Blackmon or should I ask for more?

TIA
