To me, the Panther run game is overrated and overvalued ... especialy so when Smith comes back. Gado is real cheap compared to upside.
Thanks wannabee. I can remember back to the days of life before the Internet. I would be looking to get DeAngelo Williams without reservation before he becomes the official starter. Sometimes, I think I try to listen to much to everyone's opinions with the result that virtually all players get lumped into the same basket.Personally, I am higher on the Carolina running game than you are if Williams was to be the starter. My line of thinking is that the "overrated/overvalue" part is due to underperformance by Davis and Foster and the injuries they have experienced for the past few years. I don't expect huge numbers but I think a 70%+ workload Williams would be a solid RB2 in any format and could hit low RB1 numbers if things broke right. I don't see that with Gado.
In fact, I'd rather have Brandon Jacobs or Michael Turner (or Jerious Norwood) on my roster than Gado given that they could be difference makers if they were to become starters. In any case, thanks again for your thoughts.
I appreciate it. I atarted this thread to "talk football" and am always open to these types of discussions. Why do you think Foster has had such a poor two games against two teams that are not known as great defenses? Here are his two games:+----------+-------------+--------+----+

For Williams, he has played well so far. I would like a bigger sample size, though. Also, due to Williams, the Panther ypc (small sample size) has grown to 4.0 ... a big upgrade. But, look at the ypc the last two years. That is ugly.
Here are some more stats:

I looked up 2003, and the Panthers had a 4.02 ypc which rankied 17th in NFL.
In summary, I do not like seeing the teams with my RBs with such bad ypc, low yards, and low TDs. I would never have thought that the Panthers, as a team, in 2004 and 2005 would combine for only 27 rushing TDs. Williams has 13 carries for 74 yards and a TD with another 6 catches for 32 yards.
