wannabee Strategy Thread (2 Viewers)

Hey, I wanted to get your opinion on a trade in my 10 team redraft league. Scoring system is as follows: 1 PPR, 1 point for 10 yards rushing/receiving or 20 yards passing, and 10 points per TD. We start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, and then IDP. I was offered the following trade:I give up:Philip Rivers, Reggie Brown, and Laurence MaroneyI receive:Terrell Owens and Eli ManningMy Roster:QBPhilip RiversJake PlummerBen RoethlisburgerCharlie FryeRBTiki BarberBrian WestbrookCorey DilonL. MaroneyWillis McGaheeAnthony ThomasBrandon JacobsWRChad JohnsonDonald DriverChris ChambersReggie BrownMatt JonesTEBen Watson Jerremy StevensI think that I am going to accept the trade. Rivers is the 10th ranked QB while Eli is the 11th in my scoring system. They are only 20 points apart, and I like Eli's chances of finishing the season strong. TO is the #5 ranked WR while Reggie Brown is #16 and has a lot of question marks right now. I can afford to lose Maroney. Thank you.Brad
Hey Brad,I think it depends on whether you would prefer having WR depth or RB depth. The addition of TO makes Driver a great WR3, but your RB3 would then become Dillon, Thomas, or Jacobs until Willis gets back. I would only worry about an injury to Westbrook. I think I would look to move Chambers for an upgrade at RB or a package of Chambers and a QB (Ben) for a QB like Kitna, who is having a very underrated year.

WDIS question - 16 team dynasty 1 pt per 25 yds passing, -4 interceptions, 6 pts passing/rushing TD's

Plummer vs- Chargers (bad match-up) :wall: ( start him he implodes - I bench him he explodes )

Gradowski vs Redskins- hurt thumb - not sure how he'll be this week

V Young vs Eagles- the interceptions could kill me

Different league - 16 team 1 pt per 40 yds passing, -2 interceptions, 6 pts passing/rushing TD's

Charlie Frye vs Steelers

Alex Smith vs Seahawks

I am not in playoff territory in either league so, going risky doesn't hurt me any. So I'm thinking highest potential is what I need to do.

Thanks Wannabee and any others who want to chime in!

Well nothing has come to fruition for my team. Except the owner I traded McGahee too wants Owens, Lewis and a good #1 pick. He asked me to name my price. What plus McGahee is a good price? He has NO draft picks right now. His team is:

QB: Romo, Vince Young, Bledsoe

RB: Willie Parker, McGahee, Chester Taylor

WR: Moss, Gabriel, Mason, Reggie Williams

Thanks for the help!

Man, theat is a tough one. I would want quite a bit mor Lewis (a healthy young rb), Owns (who is tearing it up with Romo), and a decent pick.I would not give up one of your top two picks. I think I would ask for Willis and Moss or Willis and VYoung. I think, what I would really try for, is to see if he would give up Parker for that package of Lewis, Owens, and the picks. I think that is a fair offer and gets you another young RB.

WOW! The first one is a tough one. I think I would go with Young. They will bebehind all game and throw a ton. It is risky, but is probably the safest and highest upside. In the second one, I would go with either Frye or Smith. I would give Green a game. Since your league is TD heavy, I would probably take a chance on Smith and hope for the Niners to be playing from behind all game ... which should be the case.Good luck.

Just to follow up, you like Parker better than McGahee? Parker is 26 years old, which seems weird since this is his 3rd year in the league, do you still consider him young because he hasn't had much wear and tear? It seems crazy but Jamal Lewis is only 27 years old, but has taken a lot more hits obviously.Would you propose Lewis, TO, and the pick for Parker? Or were you saying that it was in theory fair? I really only want to make a deal that betters my team for next season.

Maybe Parker and Lewis are similar in age, but not in mileage. Parker is worth a ton more than either Lewis or Willis. Since it is non-PPR, Parker is a top 10-12 RB, while Lewis and Willis are in the 20-30 range. I think I would start off the talks with Lewis, TO, pick (not top 2) for Parker and Moss. If he balks, take Gabriel (or Reg Williams) instead of Moss.In a non-PPR league, Parker should be a top player.

Thanks for the clarification. This helps a lot. I like the strategy overall. I'll keep you posted. Things are getting kind of crazy with our trade deadline this Saturday. I only want to make a deal if it is highly likely to help me for next year and beyond.

I agree. I think I might try to play it to my advantage. He has the injured Willis and no picks. I would play it up for the Parker/Moss deal or say "no thanks" and walk. You are in a great spot, no need to over trade and blow it.

A different offer just came my way from an owner making a run at the title: Jamal Lewis and TO for Julius Jones and Chris Chambers. Any thoughts on this one? Won't you be glad after Saturday (our trade deadline) when I won't be asking all these questions about trades for a while??? :D

:D No, I am good with the questions. That is why I am here. In no way would I take that offer. Lewis is atleast equal to Julius, imo and TO>>>Chambers with Romo at QB. Romo is making TO's value go through the roof to many.

What are your thoughts on me getting McGahee and Moss for Lewis and TO? Does this make me a better or worse team next year?

Questions on both teams this week. BOTH are PPR leagues.

Team 1:

Pick two RB's

Rudi Johnson vs NO (probable w/ calf injury, and just lost another OL)

Reggie Bush vs CIN (remember, it's a PPR league! CIN is vulnerable to both rushing and passing)

Anthony Thomas vs HOU (umm... vs Houston. Tough to pass up)

Lundy vs BUF (No, but just posting my options...)

WR3: Going w/ Smith, Driver, and....

Horn vs CIN (slowed a bit by groin? Should be a shootout though)

Galloway vs WAS (On a bit of a hot streak lately)

M Clayton vs ATL (Also on somewhat of a hot streak)

Cotchery vs CHI

QB1: I thought this was obvious, but now the FBG's sometimes screwy rankings have me questioning myself

Delhomme vs STL

McNair vs ATL

Defense: SD vs DEN, or JAX vs NYG (not a yardage league)

Team 2:

WR3-Going w/ Colston, Boldin, and.....

C Henry vs NO (assume Houshyomamma is starting, but may be limited. Should be a shootout)

Mason vs ATL (Is he finally getting back on track?)

Kennison vs OAK (Taken a dump the last couple of weeks and OAK has a solid secondary.

DEF:

PHI vs TEN

KC vs OAK (can you say "sacks"?)

Thanks in advance. Sorry for the number of questions this week.

I think it is a wash only if Moss can start producing. To has been the best player of the four. Willis is a very solid young RB, but so is Lewis. Since Moss is a few years younger than TO, I would probably do it, but not by a ton ... any improvement in Moss would make it a great deal for you.

I think I would start:Bulger coming off a below average game. I look for a huge game from Bulger and the RamsWestbrook and Brown are easy choices as long as Brown will play. It is unknown now.Housh and Driver are easy choices at WR. I would, for a change, go with Clark at TE.At flex, I think I might go with Marion Barber. For some reason, I feel like he will have a very good game. I think there are a ton of unknowns in Denver with Tatum and his health. If Brown is out, I would start AThomas at the RB2 position.

McNair vs ATL

Defense: SD vs DEN, or JAX vs NYG (not a yardage league)

RBs: Rudi and Bush are the safe ones and the ones with upside. No Lundy with these choices. And Hou's defense has improved. I would avoid Thomas instead of Bush or Rudi because you never know when Buff will be down a ton early and have to throw it while giving up on the run.

WR3: I would go with Clayton only because he has been hot AND ATL is the worst defense versus WRs in my PPR league. They give up a TON of points versus WRs and Clayton has been on fire.

QB: I think McNair looks sexier than he is this week. For some reason, in my PPR league (wcoff scoring), ATL has done well defensing QBs even though the WRs go off. I suspect the difference is that they give up a lot of catches and yards, with less TDs. I would go with Delhomme. I think it is the much safer choice and he has Steve Smith. Delhomme has benefitted from a lack od running game.

Defenses: I would go with Jax, only because they are least unfavorable. SD offense allows opposing defenses few points.

Team 2:

WR3-Going w/ Colston, Boldin, and.....

C Henry vs NO (assume Houshyomamma is starting, but may be limited. Should be a shootout)

You do not need to apologize for asking questions. I am happy to answer any and all.I think I would go with Henry if I thought I needed a great game from WR3 and mason if I needed the "sure" points. Henry is usually an all or nothing player. last week, he caught a TD and dropped another easy TD catch.

On the defenses, I would definitely go with KC. They are my favorite def this week. Brooks coming back means Ints galore, and I predict one will be brought back for a TD. While I look for Philly to dominate, Tenn (and VY) is improving.

thanks for the reply.Just curious, if you like AThomas as an RB2 if Brown is out, then why don't you like him as a flex player over MBarber?

I did not explain that well. I thought Barber was a must start. So, you could look at barber moving to RB2. Then, for flex, you have the choice between Bell, Thomas, or WRs. I would choose Thomas. Sorry, I just skipped a couple steps above.

Hey WB,

I'm getting lots of interest from owners for TO and Lewis, but no offers that make me want to pull the trigger. I'll be talking with a close friend tomorrow about a possible deal. Ideally I'd like to move Jamal Lewis for a younger RB. If need be I'd involve TO or Lee Evans. I bring up Evans because this owner told me last week that he values Evans more than TO, which is crazy, but he onced owned Evans and lost him in a bad trade with another owner. So that probably has something to do with it.

His Team:

QB: M Hasselbeck, J Kitna

RB: D McAllister, J Addai, D Williams, D Rhodes, C Benson

WR: M Colston, I Bruce, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, N Burleson, A Toomer, M Clayton, M Jones

TE: J Shockey

Draft picks: no first, but has a 2nd and 3rd (valuable to me b/c it would free up 1 of my 1st round picks)

So what would be a fair deal in your mind if I were to offer Lewis and either Evans (or TO if he comes to his senses) for the following guys?

1. DeAngelo Williams

2. Joseph Addai

3. Cedrick Bension

This is the order I would rank them. He's got a lot of young RB talent so maybe I could improve his WRs and give him back Lewis as a fair swap? Our trade deadline is Sunday morning, so if something is going to happen it will be tomorrow.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I think I would go with Seneca if healthy and starting. I hear that Hasselbeck MAY play. If so, Grossman is still a decent start. The Jets defense is decent, but I expect Grossman to have to throw a lot. An upset by the Jets would not surprise me. Bush and Gore because Brown is nicked and the Vikes are good vs run. Addai is a decent play, but Dallas' defense is playing better. Housh is said to be playing. I would play all of the WRs except Glenn. I really like you WRs in PPR. On the TEs, I think it is a coin flip. I would probably go with the hot hand in Utecht. Watson has been silent lately. On the defenses, I LOVE KC this week. Oak getting Brooks back and a team in disarray with Moss, etc. KC has a great shutdown corner in Surtain. In my leagues, SD is the worst offense to have your team defense play. They just do not five up sacks or turnovers on a regular basis .. plus the Chargers score a ton of points.

I think Lewis and Evans should get you either DWilliams or Addai. And, I think most would gladly give you Benson straight up for Lewis. I would also ask for a 3rd to free up one of your picks.

I bet Lewis and Evans are worth a little more after today ... WOW!

You said it! I did NOT wind up trading Lewis, Evans or TO despite several possible deals. I owe you a big thank you for slowing me down. The best deals are sometimes the ones that I don't make. There's probably a good lesson there.Anyway, our trading deadline has passed, but I'm very happy with my team for next year. Especially if Lewis can get back on track. In hindsight he might have been a great buy-low candidate (Billick taking over the play calling, etc.). I couldn't give him away to people in my league! Today I got 3 emails from people telling me that they wished they had accepted a deal for him. I can honestly say that I've never been so happy to not make a deal.Plus, I crushed one of my arch rivals this week. It was glorious.

My other rbs are Maroney, MBell, Dillon and Gado. My WRs are Fitzy, Braylon and Reggie Brown. Due to these circumstances, is Holt expendable? Could I get more?

Looking for some advice as to to to start @ QB this week.

We get 0 points up to 200 passing & receiving yards combined then 1 point every 10 yards.

We ge 6 points per TD pass and -2 for interceptions.

Farve @ Sea

Vick vs. NO

Harrington @ DET

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I won...thanks again!

Rex Grossman is killing me and I need another QB option......the rest of my team is solid.

I just stink at that little important QB position.

Here are my options:

Carr @NYJ

McNair v PIT

Johnson v ARI

ASmith @vSTL

Leinart @vMIN

Garrard @ BUF

Brooks @ SD

1pt per REC

1pt 20 yds

For this week, Garrard sticks out. My second choice might be ASmith but Battle just had pins put into his finger and Bryant was arrested this weekend. Who knows how that will play out.Carr might be a decent option, too, depending on AJounson's health. But, Garrard seems the safest and with some upside.

My, that is a tough one. I would not go with Joey given the bonus for yards. I think Vick will want to prove something after being shut down in NO early in the year on Prime Time. I would be wary of Favre for atleast a week until we see how hurt/healthy he is. He was hurt going into this past week and worse coming out.

Sorry man, should have proofread...I was offered Caddy for Holt. Start 2rb, 3wr and flex (wr/rb/te), PPR. 12 team dynasty, standard scoring.

Hi WB-

My name is Mel, and I am too a burned McNabb owner.

I will be riding out the rest of the year with Garrard (GULP!), and there are only a few options on the WW.

Should I pickup Garcia, Feely or Aaron Brooks for my matchup guy? Which one?

Thanks!

MKJr

Hi, I need major help. 14 team redraft league. start 1qb, 1rb, 3wr, 1flex-rb/wr/te, 1pk 1 def.

My roster:

J.P. Losman D McNabb

W Parker V Morency M Barber A Green J Norwood

R Moss M Furrey T.J. Houshmandzadeh C Chambers R Caldwell B Watson L.J. Smith

J Carney

D Ravens

I need a qb, trade deadline is past. the only ones on waivers is Garcia, Feeley, and Cutler. I think I want Garcia and Cutler. Who do I drop besides McNabb? Or do I just pick one and then who? Do I drop anyone for Fargas? Do I start Garcia vs Indy or Losman vs Jax this week? Garcia?? Does Greise have a chance this year?

I am a lock for the playoffs but I am in trouble once I get there.

Thanks.

RBs: Gore is the easy choice. The other three are a toss up. I would narrow it down to Bush or Brown, I would play Brown if he is 100%. I have not kep up with him, so you will have to check it out. If he is still hurt, play Bush. I think the Falcons will want revenge on your Saints from the whooping in prime time.WRs; Play the three other than Glenn. All are in great situations this week.TEs: WatsonDef: Den because KC will turn it over. But, if the rumors are true that Cutler is starting, start KC def.

No prob. But, no way do I give up Holt for Caddy in PPR league

I would avoid the Garcia/Feeley mess for a week. I think Feeley will get it eventually. I am not a huge Brooks fan, but I think he is the best option. With the Cutler rumor, I might look to see if he is available, or keep an eye on McCown in Detroit to see if he nabs the job. Another one to watch might be Ingle Martin in GB if Favre is out.Sorry. I wish I had better news.

WB,it's been a while but was hoping for some insight:

8 pts per rushing/receiving td

1 pt per 10 yds rushing/receiving

I need to pick 3 rb's from the following:

Tjones vs NE

Caddy vs DAL

MBIII vs TB

Addai vs PHI

FredTaylor vs BUF (obvious start)

And 3 wr's from the following:

Galloway vs DAL

Mark Clayton vs PITT

Glenn vs TB

Henry vs CLEV

Kennison vs DEN

I also have RMoss but no way he sees the light of day.

I can also cut McCardell and pick up Caldwell but is he a good play against Chicago?

Any help would be appreciated !! And have a great holiday !

I would definitely grab Cutler. Garcia is a huge question mark for the rest of the season. I do expect the Eagles to get blow out this week and throw a ton.If Cutler is starting, as the rumors say, I would nab him. Could be huge down the stretch. I would drop McNabb and LJ Smith for garcia and cutler.I would start Cutler or Garcia this week, depending if the rumors are true. Garcia could do ok, but cannot throw a ton and Cutler would be in a conservative offense.

RBs: Taylor, Caddy, and Addai. MB3 would be my next choice. TJones is nicked and the Pats have a very good run def,WRs: Galloway (just a hunch), Clayton (the steelers give up points to WRs), and Henry. I would stay away from Kennison since Champ Bailey will be matched up him. I am still not sold on Glenn's health or Romo going to him enough. These options are better than Moss or Caldwell.

I would go with Bulger to bounce back, especially with the Favre injury. For RBs, I would definitely go with Westbrook and Brown (with the assumption of Brown starting and healthy). The WRs should be Housh and Driver. And, since it is PPR, I woulg go with Glenn over Barber, Thomas or Bell for the flex. I would go with Minny defense getting AZ at home.

Quick check back......sat Glenn and he blew up.....go figure!

Walker also came up short thanks to Plummer!

I will need big points on Sunday.....do you still like starting Reggie Bush over Addai?????

I am counting on your buy McNair to make it a close one!

thanks!

Sorry, all, for not checking in. WDIS is not my best suit but will answer any and all. Busy weekend. Sorry again.
