wannabee Strategy Thread (4 Viewers)

Hi WB,

The injury to McNabb has left me scrambling for a legit QB, and I am currently the #1 seed for the playoffs (team & scoring in sig).

Currently, I have D. Garrard and J. Garcia. It's a full Dynasty.

Should I deal for Favre, Kitna, Delhomme or McNair? This is the last week for deals/FA pickups, and all of these guys can be dealt for (future rookie pick - prob 2nd rounder - low, probably 24th overall).

Do any of these guys help me this year & for the future? Favre has looked up/down; Delhomme has been underperforming, Kitna is, well, Kitna, and McNair is on a running team.

Aaron Brooks is also avail as a FA.

Help?!?!?

I would target Kitna or McNair. Both are very cheap. I gave up Curtis for McNair in one league and saw Curtis get dealth for Kitna in another.Given this, I would look at offering Gabriel for either of those two QBs. Then I would try to play matchups between this QB and Garrard. Your WRs are young and deep. If you get no takers, then I would dangle Cotch. He should rarely play given your WRs. I think McNair and Kitna are huge upgrades for you. Kitna is a solid, top 10 QB.

I hope you stop by before the game tonite

I am considering benching McNair and TJ Housh due to Cincy weather....

I will start Leinart and Glenn instead ... thoughts

I apologize that the WDIS questions are not my best suit. The starts that are obvious to me are:Westbrook, Bell, Housh (good job), Driver, and Pats defense (the Pats def is only giving up something like 13 points a game recently and play Detroit). Now, the tougher choices:For flex:Morris, MBarber, or Glenn.I do not like the Morris matchup vs Jax. And, I did not like reading that Parcells was going to give Julius more carries. Even though I think Romo tends to go to TO a ton, I would go with Glenn since the Cowboys play the Giants. As teams double, and even triple, TO, Glenn will be a good play. For QB:Bulger or Favre (I would give Cutler a game to see how he will do):Bulger vs AZ seems to be a better matchup than Favre vs Jets so I would go with Bulger.Hope this helps.

I would lean to Leinart at QB because of the bitter cold for the Chi/Minny game. For the defense, I would go with KC defense. Even though Cutler is starting for Denver, I expect the Broncos to have a conservative game plan. But, I see the Browns offense as one in disarray. In one league, I picked up the KC defense. It will be a cold, blistery day in KC. KC's defense matches up well against Cleve's offense. They have a shutdown corner in Surtain to cover Edwards and are tough against the run.For the RBs, I think Gore is a given. The two rooks are difficult to decide between. I might lean toward Addai just since he has a better chance at a TD. Hope this helps.

Hi, PPR Dynasty here. Not that PPR helps so much because I'm asking about DEF.

I have the Eagles right now (and am out of the playoff hunt in my FFL this year). Should I drop them for any of the currently available DEF?

ATL would be only one I consider. I think it is very close between ATL and Philly Def. Both have been ravenged by injuries. In the end, I would prob go with ATL. They get Abraham back. Their secondary has been really decimated this year. I expect all to be healthy next year and be a top defense.

Need a win this week - playoffs start next week I am tied for 1st at 10-3 want to stay in 1st! Not a ppr league. 1 pt per 10 - rushing/receiving, 1 pt per 25 yds passing, -3 interceptions, all TD's 6 pts.

Questions on my offense

QB

Brees @ Dallas

Eli @ Carolina

V Young @ Houston ( do I dare?) all QB's playing away from home. Rough choice of 1

RB - not much to chose from - start 2

MBII vs NO - my one starter

J Wright @ Pitts (Droughns still playing - not sure he'll see many touches)

M Robinson vs GB (Gore still the starter)

D Foster vs Giants (still not playing)

C Fason (will only play if C Taylor is out) Told you it was said

WR

Holt - of course

Chad J - of course

G Jennings @ SF (not a bad match-up but Jennings hasn't done much lately)

B Edwards @ Pitts (not a bad match-up but who will be the QB?)

TE - KWII - my only TE

no kickers

Slim pickens - my defense is holding me in at this point. Very strong lineup there.

Thanks for the advice!

I am so happy your team is doing great. You have a good team. Some of the decisions seems obvious and others very tough. At QB, my first inclination would be to go with Brees, But Horn and Colston are hurt which hinders his value. The great thing about Brees, if everyone is healthy, is all of the yards he puts up. Dallas has two good CBs. I would avoid Eli. He looks shaky to me. Young "going home" to Texas is intriguing. The decision between Young and Brees, for me, would come down to my gut feeling on the health of the Saint WRs. I have yet to see anything positive on Horn's groin he re-injured last week. So, I would play Young, unless I heard good things on Horn and Colston. Young will not put up huge numbers, but should be adequate enough not to hurt you. His rushing yards help and I expect him to want to "show" Houston they made a mistake by not picking him.

At RB, I love MB3. That guy has produced very well. The other RB spot is tough. I would see if Foster is playing. I would think Chester will try to play through the rib injury. Foster's injury was his arm that prohibited him from blocking, so I assume he will be better with a week off. If Foster is out and Chester is playing, I would lean to Wright just for yards. But that is a tough one and think you are gambling any way you go. But, hopefully, Foster will play or Chester will sit, to make your decision easier.

For WR3, I would go with Edwards. I read where the Packer coaches still do not think Jennings is healthy. But, I do expect the Pack to rebound after the embarassment of last week in Lambeau. I probably would be happier if Anderson started for Cleve than Frye, if I was an Edwards' owner. Anderson seems like a gunslinger. Frye is more of a game manager. Also, Pitt should be up early and Cleve forced to throw it a ton.

Good luck.

wannabee:

I HAVE to win my game this week to make the playoffs.

My dilemma is at QB. My QBs are Bulger, Favre & J Cutler.

Bulger scares me because he's playing Chicago. Favre scares me a little less going against SF, but nonetheless still scares me because his offense is so inconsistent. Cutler, well, he just plain scares me after Sunday night's performance.

Also, free agent QBs include D Carr, Trent Green, Harrington and J Garcia. I'm not sure if any of these have a better shot than the QBs already on my roster.

Gun to your head, playoffs on the line, which QB do you pick?

I like Favre best of your Qbs for this week. I think Favre comes back strong after being embarassed last week. I would avoid Bulger (and his hurt ribs) and Cutler (the Broncs should play conservatively). I do not think you can rely on Trent Green (esp playing the Ravens). He could blow up. But, I think last week was because the Brown secondary was injured and vulnerable. The guy I would be the closest to picking up would be Harrington, only because Ronnie and Morris are probably out and may need to throw a ton. I would avoid Garcia and Carr. So, the decision comes down to Favre or Joey. I would lean toward Favre vs Niners, but ever so slightly. I could understand going with Joey.

But Favre looked so awful at home this week. I'm tempted to put him in too, but I can't afford to make a mistake this week.

Is Betts a Keeper? Or should I sit tight and look for other opportunities, will better backs be available at draft time.

any other rebuilding thoughts are welcome.

Do I gamble and start Delhomme, or go with Garrard?

Let's look at your surefire keepers. I will tell you that I like to go RB-heavy in my keeper leagues and keep 1 QB max (in start 1 QB leagues) . I am not an IDPer and am ignorant on those leagues. So, I will stay on the offensive side. You should not keep a kicker, so that one is easy. I would definitely drop the kicker for Betts. He will be a free agent this offseason if he does not re-sign with the skins. The skins are hot and heavy to re-sign Betts because (some believe) that Portis will not be ready for preseason camp. Betts could easily be startable over Henry (with White in town) and Green (who is a FA). Also, like I alluded to above, in a 12 team league, I would not keep a backup QB since you have Brady as your starter. I prefer RB depth keepers to a backup QB. It seems RB depth is needed more each year and backup QBs are easy to find late in drafts and on waiver.I hope this helps.

Question for you WB,

I'm currently starting Desmond Clark and due to salary restraints have

my choice of either Ben Utecht or Randal Williams. TE scoring for my

league is 1 pt per reception/8 pts per receiving td/1 pt per reception.

Headed into the playoffs would you cut Clark and go after either of those 2?

Thanks in advance !

At this time, I would probably hold off. I think Utecht will be unprdictable and no way would I want to start any Raiders, much less a TE. Now, I do realize that Grossman has been horrid. I started Muhsin last week. Yuck. Utecht only had two targets last week. Fletcher had four. For reference, even on the bad week, Clark had three targets. I think I would ride Clark one more week.

Hi WB-

So we know for certain Delhomme is out- Do I stick with Garrard, or try and make a deal for a Garcia/McNair/A Brooks/etc.? Can I really count on Garrard this week?

Thanks,

Hey, Sadly I would say to stick with Garrard. I think McNair has a tough matchupvs KC and NO WAY would I touch Brooks. Garcia would be only option, but I do not really think he will outperform Garrard by much if any. The Jags always play the Colts very tough in Jax. I think you would be risking it more by going with Garcia, but Garcia offers a little more upside ... and downside for that matter. So, in the end, I would prob stay with Garrard. Since you have a really strong team, I do think I would "play it safe" with Garrard ince his low end would be an avg QB ame. Garrard always produced better numbers than we expect due to his running ability.

Hard to go wrong with either Vick or Romo. I would lean to Vick because TB's defense is in disarray. Your WRs are strong. I cannot imagine sitting TO, Fitz, or Plax so I guess you have to sit Evans. Those other three are studs and have good matchups. For TE, I would go with Witten at TE. For the defenses, I picked up the Cincy Def for this week since they are playing very well and Oak is always a good matchup.

Ok. Still hangin on by a thread. I need a WDIS. 1pt/10 rec/rush and 6 pt td, no ppr, no te. I'm starting Losman ( no other options)and FWP.

congrats on having Parker's huge game as a head start. I think you have to play Housh and Furrey. In addition, I would not play (too risky) Moss. For me, it comes down to Chambers and Caldwell. Since no PPR, I like Chambers to have a decent game for you.At RB, I like Ahman. For defense, I like Bal.

I would avoid Grossman at all costs. I think I owuld lean to Leinart. For the defenses, I think I would go with either Tenn or StL. I would lean toward Tennessee ever so slightly because the Titan def had a HUGE game in week 8 when these teams met.

Which QB should I start today as my #2 QB?

Jeff Garcia @ WAS

or

Jon Kitna vs. MIN

A win today puts me into the playoffs, but a loss and my season is over.

wannabee:

First off, I want to thank you for your opinions during the past year about different lineup issues I've had, and, as luck would have it, I've made the playoffs in my league this year.

So, here I go with lineup questions for this upcoming week's all-important playoff game.

I have to start 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 Flex RB/WR/TE, 1 D/ST.

I'm in a yardage, yardage bonuses for 100+, 150+ etc., 6 pts. per TD, 1 point per reception.

My choices:

Bulger

Favre

Garcia

Westbrook

Tatum Bell

Ronnie Brown ( I assume he's not playing this week)

Marion Barber

Sammy Morris

TJ Housh

D Driver

T Glenn

D Mason

Desmond Clark

B Watson

(I could also pick up a FA like Daniel Graham or T Scheffler)

Patriots D

Vikings D

Again, thanks for helping me navigate a difficult fantasy year for me.

No problem. WDIS questions are from what I do best. I have my own WDIS horror stories every week. But, I am happy to help.To me, the QB is the hardest one so I will save to last. Westbrook and Bell (vs AZ) are the best bets for RBs. Housh and Driver are very easy at WR. The TE should be either Watson, or pick up Graham if Watson is out. Patriots defense. For flex, it is a tough decision at flex between Glenn and Morris. Morris plays vs Bills and Glenn vs Falcons. I think you take Glenn all day on that one. The Fakcons are the worst defense against WRs in PPR leagues. Play Glenn. Now, back to QB. I would think that Garcia will falter any week now and I would not want to risk my playoff chances on Garcia when I had Favre and Bulger. Bulger plays at Oak and Favre gets the Lions at home. Oak pass defense is playing very well and Favre has a cream puff matchup. I would go with Favre.I wish you the most of luck.

thanks for the extended response. Much appreciated.Just curious, any reason why you wouldn't consider Marion Barber over Sammy Morris or Terry Glenn as my flex player? MBIII has more or less been money the last 5-6 weeks.

I am thinking of picking Ron Dayne up to play him next week, he plays Indy but I would have to start him in place of Edge and also would have to drop R. Moss if I pick him up.

Do you think this is a good move or do I just stay with Edge.

wannabee:First off, I want to thank you for your opinions during the past year about different lineup issues I've had, and, as luck would have it, I've made the playoffs in my league this year. So, here I go with lineup questions for this upcoming week's all-important playoff game.I have to start 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 Flex RB/WR/TE, 1 D/ST.I'm in a yardage, yardage bonuses for 100+, 150+ etc., 6 pts. per TD, 1 point per reception. My choices:BulgerFavre GarciaWestbrookTatum BellRonnie Brown ( I assume he's not playing this week)Marion BarberSammy MorrisTJ HoushD DriverT GlennD MasonDesmond ClarkB Watson(I could also pick up a FA like Daniel Graham or T Scheffler)Patriots DVikings DAgain, thanks for helping me navigate a difficult fantasy year for me.
Oh, I love MB3. But, the Falcon rush defense is very strong. But, the Falcon pass defense is weak and decimated by injury. In a PPR league, MB3's upside is limited but WRs like Glenn can go off.

I am thinking of picking Ron Dayne up to play him next week, he plays Indy but I would have to start him in place of Edge and also would have to drop R. Moss if I pick him up. Do you think this is a good move or do I just stay with Edge.
Sorry, I made a mistake and edited it.My, that is a tough one. On one hand Edge is a risky play versus the Bronco strong rush defense. But the Bronco defense has surprisingly given up decent numbers to RBs. Moss is worthless in redraft. So if this is a redraft, I would drop Moss for Dayne ... definitely. Since Dayne plays NE this week, I do not think you can you can start him since the Patriot run defense is strong. I would start Edge this week.

Hi WB-

McNabb, Lefty & Delhomme have left me with Garrard as my starting QB (yikes!).

Should I make a deal for Garcia or Favre? I would probably have to deal a future 2nd round pick and a player (like Joe Horn or Cotchery), but it could help me win the league this year. Or can I trust Garrard? I need to win the next 2 games (week 15 and 16) for the title!

Team and scoring system in sig.

Thanks!

MKJr

Heh Wannabee

Very very close matchup. Win this go to the big dance - came in as a wildcard. 12 team dynasty

1 pt per 10 yds/rushing receiving 1 pt PR, 1.5 for a TE. All TD's 6 and fumbles lost are -2

RB's LT, T Jones, C Bensen, L Maroney

WR, Fitzgerald, Cotchery, M Jones, A Byrant, B Johnson

TE Cooley, Mercedes Lewis

Start 2 RB, 2 WR, 2 flex positions either RB, WR or TE no more than 3 RB or 4 WR or 2 TE

Currently starting LT and Bensen (as I think T Jones is still very questionable) and starting Fitz, Cotchery & M Jones and Cooley.

Maybe should be considering Maroney instead of Jones or one of the other WR instead of Jones. Or should go Jones, LT and Bensen and forget an extra WR?

The weather in Seattle is very pesky. Two QB's are Hass and Alex uggggh. So going with Hass and praying for decent weather.

Who would you start and why?

Thanks!

Hey. Imo, no way should Favre cost a 2nd AND a decent player. But, I would definitely offer a 2nd rounder for him. His owner should be ecstatic getting something for him. I would offer the 2nd for Favre. If the other owner balks, I might offer Delhomme straight up for Favre. I hear rumors that Jake might not be the Panther QB next year. But, I would sell the Favre owner on the fact that Favre will most likely retire this offseason.

Hey, I hope I answered this well enough via PM. Let me know if not.

The offer on the table is

I give: Michael Turner

Get: Jericho Cotchery and a 3rd round pick.

The way I see it, Cotchery improves my lineup, probably start him over Keyshawn, but I don't like the idea of losing Turner. If LT gets hurt or rested, I would prefer to start Turner, but could roll with CTaylor and Benson.

Help! :hot:

I think that there is NO POSSIBLE WAY I would trade Turner (in a league I can keep him) when all you get is Cotch and a 3rd. I have Matt Jones over Cotch and do not think you gain much, if anything, by doing that deal.

I think Turner is worth a ton and would keep him. I do think his "perceived" value is greater that actual, but it works in your favor. You have a strong, deep team and have WRs with Jones and Hackett on the bench. I did read where DJax is supposed to be out this coming week, too, and might be a good spot starter.

In the end, I just think Turner is worth more. I think you could get a strong WR for Turner. Probably someone in the Driver, Chambers, etc range.

Hope this helps.

:lmao: Thanks. I countered with Turner for Lee Evans. Not sure if he values Turner that much, but I think that's the value I need. (FWIW, this would make 3/3 leagues I'm in that I own Evans in)

Evans is in that tier, too, of WRs with value about the same as Turner. I think Turner is worth a WR in the WR20-25 range. And his perceived value will skyrocket this offseason with the anticipation of urner getting traded into a starting situation.Good luck with it.

Is that enough?

I think it is fair, but all will depend on the other owner's love for Peyton and his comfort level with Vick. Tonight has to help. Williams is a young RB with enough talent and potential to make most want to do that deal. I do think the offer is more than fair.
