wannabee Strategy Thread (2 Viewers)

Jeff, I have a trade question for you.

I'm in a 8 team,2 vet,1 '06 rookie and 2 '07 rookies keeper league.

We start: 2 qb/3 rb/3 wr/te/k/def.

Scoring is: 6 pts per passing td/ RB's and WR's are: 1 pt per 10 yds rushing/receiving and 8 pts per rushing/receiving TD.

My current roster for QB and RB

QB- Peyton,Carson and Favre

RB- SA/MBIII/Foster/Adrian Peterson (both)/BJax/Booker

I have been offered:

Palmer and MBIII

for

Addai and my choice of either QB- Alex Smith or Eli Manning.

I'm pleased as punch w/ my WR's (Marvin,Housh,SSmith,Boldin) but obviously my RB's

are weak.

Is this a deal I should consider?

As always, any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance !!

I would do that in a heartbeat, and ask for Eli (two straight 20+ TD seasons). Addai is keepable and I do not think MB3 or Palmer is for your league.

Jeff,I screwed that offer up but sadly, the other owner pulled the trade.I did receive another offer,Lamont Jordan or Julius Jones for Burner Turner?I primarily drafted Turner for next year but I'm so thin at RB,should I just hold off and play the best matchups?

Hey, sorry I was not around all day. I would hold off. Neither of those two RBs will help you enough to be worth it. Keep Turner. I have a feeling he will be great this year.

LOL. I know it is not too PC, but I am thinking Turner gets 200+ carries this year.

Jeff,

Okay I'm back. 12 team league that starts 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, RB/WR, TE, K, D. Standard scoring but with .33 PPR.

Below is my roster. I went to the team with Ronnie Brown and offered Chatman and Jerry Porter for Kevin Jones (along with the link about Chatman possibly being named the starter over Brown who was their second round choice). The reply was, "I hate two for one deals. The starting RB will be named tomorrow they say. Not sure right now."

What do you suggest?

My team:

Roethlisberger, Ben PIT QB - 6

I might offer a WR like Holmes and another player like Chatman for KJ and Toomer (or Horn). Holmes is a top sleeper for many people. Also, I might reinforce the idea that Brown is one of his top two RBs and if Chatman is named the starter (or Brown is hurt), the price will go up.

I don't want Horn or Toomer this year, and I don't want to give up Holmes for Kevin Jones.Because of their bye week issues at QB, what do you think of this:Me: J Chatman, S Moss, and Big BenThem: QB of thier choice, M Colston, K Jonesor is that asking for too much?

So, I finally pulled off a deal for Marshawn Lynch on Thursday in my full 18 player/12 team Dynasty League. I just have a feeling this guy is going to explode.

My scoring system heavily favors TDs, and also gets points for receptions so pass catching RBs are GOLD.

I traded:

Lamont Jordan

Jerricho Cotchery

Byron Leftwich (before he got cut)

2008 1st & 2nd round picks (rookie/FA draft)

for:

Marshawn Lynch

Anthony Thomas

I feel like I gave up Jordan at his lowest value point, but he had Michael Bush and needed to get someone back to start. He's building for the future, and wasn't 100% sold on Lynch (good for me).

I then traded Adrian Peterson (Chicago one) straight up for Ronald Curry to add some WR depth for the departed Cotch. I also took a WW flier Selvin Young with the extra roster spot.

My team after the deal:

(start 1) QB: McNabb, Delhomme, Garcia, Culpepper

(start 2) RB: SJax, Rudi, Edge, Lynch, Thomas, Selvin Young

(start 3) WR: Andre Johnson, Fitzgerald, Hines Ward, Joe Horn, Stallworth, Curry

K: Vinatieri; D/ST: Patriots

Good deal or bad? My buddy says I gave up "a pile of crap" for Marshawn Lynch, but I think I gave some value.

I think Cotchery was the best player in the deal and Lamont Jordan short term is a better RB than Lynch is.Will Lynch ever be worth having? I am not so sure about that honestly. Too early to give up hope but does not look good so far.At least you got Anthony Thomas.

It may be asking too much with all of the positive press KJ is getting. I would love it for you, but I do not know if it would be accepted.

I agree with Bia in that I, too, like Cotchery. You paid a lot. You did not get Lynch/Thomas cheap. But, this is one of those times that if you really believe in a player's potential, it was not an unreasonable price to pay. I think you sold Jordan low. Cotch is underrated by many. The good news is that your team is good enough that the picks should be late in the round.

Hi Wannabee,

The owner of Clinton Portis in my dynasty league sent out the following email (in italics below). He's interested in getting a "top RB" for the guys below. I'm not parting with a "top RB", but what about Ronnie Brown? A while back I almost trade Brown for Portis straight up. But now Portis has tendonitis and I'm still worried about Betts. This owner also has Travis Henry and Maurice Jones-Drew, though I'd probably have to give up more for them. I don't need to do anything as my goal is to win this year and my team is solid at every position, but do you think Portis makes my team better for the next couple of years (instead of Brown)? After all, I'm always looking to improve.

You've helped me so many times that you probably have memorized my team. But if not, it's in the sig below. No PPR. Thanks for your help.

Package deal available from among this list for top RB

Offered:

* Pennington, Chad QB NYJ

* Furrey, Mike WR DET

* Jordan, LaMont RB OAK

* Portis, Clinton RB WAS

* Brown, Chris RB TEN

Needs:

* Running Backs

I like Portis and Brown equally. But, since the other owner does not have faith in Portis, I would offer Brown for Portis and CBrown (since you have White). I really do not like Brown for this year with the Miami offense struggling. I have no ideas as to Portis. This is why I value them ablout the same. The coaches that drafted Brown are gone and he is no sure thing for the long term .... but neither is Portis. The ability to lock up both Titan Rbs helps, too.

Hey, wannabee,

I have my draft tonight, and I'm looking for opinions on draft strategy. I'm in a 10-team high performance, PPR league, where each of us declares 2 keepers. We start 1QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 Flex RB/WR/TE, 1 D/ST, and it's a serpentine draft. The keepers count in the round you drafted that players last year. Suffice to say, I have Westbrook as my 1st-round keeper and Bulger as my 2nd keeper, counting towards my 8th round pick this year. Keepers declared by the other owners include LT, SJ, LJ, FWP, Alexander, R Bush & Maroney(2nd round pick). I'm assuming the 2 owners who didn't declare 1st round keepers will snatch up Addai and Gore before the keeper round is complete. I am then 7th in the 1st round after the keeper round. So, essentially, after Westbrook, I get the 15th overall pick (some owners have players that count towards their 2nd round pick).

Anyway, I'm trying to figure out who to get as my 2nd round pick. I'm thinking that the likes of a MJ Drew, McGahee, Portis or Edge might be available as my 2nd pick, but I'm also thinking that since my league's owners tend to go RB-RB with their first 2 picks, I may be able to land a Steve Smith, T.O, Harrison, LFitz etc. If I end up picking a WR with my 2nd pick, then I'm afraid of the drop-off of talent RB-wise when my 3rd round pick comes (essentially, the 24th overall pick at that point).

If I go WR with my 2nd pick, then I could end up with a potential Westbrook, elite WR, and then a CBenson/R Brown/A Green/TJones/APeterson and the like to start my draft.

Would you even consider going WR/WR with the 2nd and 3rd pick, and then take a chance and draft a wild-card RB as a 3rd pick? After all, I could have 3 WRs in my starting lineup, with my league's rules. I realize the big variable is in how my draft unfolds in figuring out the best overall strategy.

So many options. :lmao:

Any advice before tonight's 8PM EST draft is appreciated

Hey wannabee,

This week I'm in a unique situation. I have acquired the first two waiver wire picks in my league, so I have the opportunity to snatch up two "sleeper" picks to add to my squad. I have to make the decision by Wednesday, so I've got to make a quick decision.

I'd love to hear your take on who I should pick up and who I should drop to get them.

League - 12 teams, 25-man rosters, start 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1FLEX, 1K, 1D/ST, Standard scoring with PPR

My Team:

QB: Carson Palmer, Tarvaris Jackson, Byron Leftwich

RB: Larry Johnson, Reggie Bush, Clinton Portis, Jamal Lewis, Michael Bennett, Ladell Betts, Jerome Harrison, Michael Robinson

WR: Torry Holt, Larry Fitzgerald, Santana Moss, Eric Moulds, Derrick Mason, Bryant Johnson, Bobby Wade, Maurice Stovall

TE: Jeremy Shockey, Owen Daniels, Tony Scheffler

K: Adam Vinatieri, Neil Rackers

D/ST: Chicago

Notable available players:

Chad Pennington, QB New York Jets - this is probably a no-brainer to me with Leftwich's situation. I was surprised when he was released this weekend.

Selvin Young, RB Denver

Cecil Sapp, RB Denver

Kenton Keith, RB Indianapolis

Jesse Chatman, RB Miami

J.J. Arrington, RB Arizona *

Justin Fargas, RB Oakland

Darren Sproles, RB San Diego

Rod Smith, WR Denver

Malcolm Floyd, WR San Diego

Tab Perry, WR Cincinnati

Derek Hagan, WR Miami

Mark Bradley, WR Chicago

David Boston, WR Tampa Bay

Sinorice Moss, WR New York Jets *

David Martin, TE Green Bay

* - guys I recently released

Sorry, just got on. I would say take a RB in round two as long as Drew or Willis is there. If it is Portis/Edge, take a WR. One or both have been slipping in drafts recently. But, since you can start three RBs each week, I tend to think they are worth much more .. especially the top RBs.

If I go WR with my 2nd pick, then I could end up with a potential Westbrook, elite WR, and then a CBenson/R Brown/A Green/TJones/APeterson and the like to start my draft.Would you even consider going WR/WR with the 2nd and 3rd pick, and then take a chance and draft a wild-card RB as a 3rd pick? After all, I could have 3 WRs in my starting lineup, with my league's rules. I realize the big variable is in how my draft unfolds in figuring out the best overall strategy. So many options. Any advice before tonight's 8PM EST draft is appreciated
Sorry, just got on. I would say take a RB in round two as long as Drew or Willis is there. If it is Portis/Edge, take a WR. One or both have been slipping in drafts recently. But, since you can start three RBs each week, I tend to think they are worth much more .. especially the top RBs.
any other RBs you would say no to and pick a WR instead?would you definitely not go WR/WR with the next 2 picks if my choices included Portis/Edge/A Green etc?

Hey wannabee,This week I'm in a unique situation. I have acquired the first two waiver wire picks in my league, so I have the opportunity to snatch up two "sleeper" picks to add to my squad. I have to make the decision by Wednesday, so I've got to make a quick decision.I'd love to hear your take on who I should pick up and who I should drop to get them.League - 12 teams, 25-man rosters, start 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1FLEX, 1K, 1D/ST, Standard scoring with PPRMy Team:QB: Carson Palmer, Tarvaris Jackson, Byron LeftwichRB: Larry Johnson, Reggie Bush, Clinton Portis, Jamal Lewis, Michael Bennett, Ladell Betts, Jerome Harrison, Michael RobinsonWR: Torry Holt, Larry Fitzgerald, Santana Moss, Eric Moulds, Derrick Mason, Bryant Johnson, Bobby Wade, Maurice StovallTE: Jeremy Shockey, Owen Daniels, Tony SchefflerK: Adam Vinatieri, Neil RackersD/ST: ChicagoNotable available players:Chad Pennington, QB New York Jets - this is probably a no-brainer to me with Leftwich's situation. I was surprised when he was released this weekend.Selvin Young, RB DenverCecil Sapp, RB DenverKenton Keith, RB IndianapolisJesse Chatman, RB MiamiJ.J. Arrington, RB Arizona *Justin Fargas, RB OaklandDarren Sproles, RB San DiegoRod Smith, WR DenverMalcolm Floyd, WR San DiegoTab Perry, WR CincinnatiDerek Hagan, WR MiamiMark Bradley, WR ChicagoDavid Boston, WR Tampa BaySinorice Moss, WR New York Jets *David Martin, TE Green Bay* - guys I recently released
I have one question: If you do not use the waiver pick, can you carry it over until you do use it? I only ask because there might be a great waiver option in a week or two.Assuming you use both this week, I would suggest Pennington and Keith. I am avoiding the Bronco RBs until things settle down some.

Hey, wannabee,I have my draft tonight, and I'm looking for opinions on draft strategy. I would take Portis or Edge over wr2, but would pass on Green/TJones because you will be able to get MBarber, Deuce, or Jacobs that will produce close to similar production in the 3rd

I'm confused. It would be the decision of Portis/Edge over my WR#1, not my WR#2? I still wouldn't have a WR since it's essentially the '2nd' round for me after Westy as my keeper counted as my 1st round pick. Would you still go with Portis/Edge over picking my #1 WR?

Drew/Willis>stud WR1>edge/Portis>WR2This may go over the rounds 2 and 3. But, in 2nd I would look at the two RBs, and then WR if they are gone. Then, in 3rd I would look to edge or portis or WR2. There will be RBs available in 4th if you go WR/WR in round 2/3. Sorry for any confusion

I am not the best at WDIS but here are my thoughts in Blue

WEEK 1 - FINALLY!

TEAM ONE

QB

Rivers v CHI or Leinart @ SF

Leinart. A divisional game to start with. Rivers against the Bears scares me some. I see a conservative game plan by the Chargers.

#3 WR (Starting Wayne & Housh)

B Berrian v SD

M Jones v TEN

P Crayton v NYG

He will get a few opportunities in the game. The other two are very risky since neither is guaranteed any game time.

TEAM TWO

QB

Romo v NYG or Cutler @ BUF

Romo. I think he will have a huge game to start the year in primetime against a divisional foe.

WR (Starting Wayne)

Need 2

V Jackson v CHI

R Brown @ GB

C Johnson @ OAK

The top two are good options. I would want to wait on Calvin until I see some production. Also, Oak has a good pass defense.

FLEX RB (Starting S Jax & Henry)

Norwood @ MIN

M Lynch v DEN

B Jackson v PHI

Only one guaranteed to start. Plus, the Philly run defense is not near as stout as the other two.

SCORING

6pts TD

1pt REC

BONUS PTS for YDS

THANKS!

Welcome to the 2007 season. I need to start an RB and a flex. I have F.Tatlor, T.Bell, D.Foster and A.Boldin flex can be RB or WR.

Also these are my #2 RBs  I have S. Alexander, and then went after Chad, Reggie W and Boldin. we start 2 rbs and 2 wrs and 1 flex, no ppr. I have Dem Williams as a 4th wr. Should I sit tight and see what devlops or look to move now before the season gets going? What would you do?

I missed on Kev Jones :yucky:

Thanks

10 team league that starts 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 2 WR/RB Flex, TE=WR, K, D

Standard scoring but with KR/PR added (6 pts per passing TD).

My team:

QB: Kitna/Pennington

RB: LT/Edge/Green/J Jones/Foster/Dunn

WR: Steve Smith, TJ Housh, A Johnson, B Edwards, S Holmes

K: D Akers

D: Steelers D

I put out on the trade block Edwards, Holmes, Foster, Dunn, Julius, and Kitna seeking to improve my QB spot.

I got the following offer:

I give: Steve Smith

I get: D McNabb, D Driver, and Santana Moss

At first glace, I think hell yeah. But after looking at it, I don't see Santana starting for me very much, and McNabb doesn't provide enough points possibly to cover the drop from SS to DD.

Thoughts?

I am new to this league, and the guy that offered it to me has won 3 of the past 4 years. Oh, and I play him this week.

with no PPR, I like Bell and Taylor. This is a good matchup for Bell. Taylor will get a good number fo touches. I would sit tight until further notice on the RBs. Never know when a waiver rb could be the answer

Kitna and Smith will outscore McNabb and Driver. Driver might not play this week. I would hold off. I like Kitna this year and he should be a top 6 or 7 QB.

Okay...I NEED to drop Matt Jones....

My WW options are Wes Welker (NE)

or

DJ Hackett (SEA)

This is for my #3 slot and Bye Week help

I get 1pt per reception and 6pts per TD with bonus points for yards after the catch.

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE GREAT STARTER ADVICE!

I would take the chance on Hackett. He is more risky than Welker, but much more potential. If you need a safe 7-9 points each week PPR, take Welker. If you want to take a shot at getting a 14 points every week, take Hackett.

I grabbed Selvin Young as a handcuff to Travis Henry.....

should I drop him for Patrick Clayton?

My other RB's are

Henry

SJax

Lynch

Norwood

B Jackson

My other WR's are

Wayne

V Jackson

R Brown

C Johnson

Leaning towards dropping Selvin b/c of all the RB's I have.....I also have ROMO as one of my QB's

Looking for some wisdom???

I like Crayton over Selvin at this time. I have a feeling Mike Bell would get the call if Henry went down.

Jeff, just wanted to check and get your opinion for my RB's and WR's for this weekend.

Scoring for RB and WR: 1 pt per 10 yds rushing/receiving and 8 pts per td rushing/receiving.

I need to pick 3 from the following:

Alexander (TB)- definitely starting

Jordan (DET)- most likely my #2

MBIII (NYG)

Foster (STL)

Peterson (ATL)

IMO,the choice is between Barber and Foster.

I need 3 from the following:

Marvin (already started and played)

SSmith (STL)- no brainer

Housh (BAL)- has great games against the birds

Boldin (SF)- leery of who Clements is covering

Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance !!

with TDs worth so much, I like Barber over Foster. For the second one, I would lean to Housh. Without Chris Henry in the lineup, I like Housh a lot this year. The good news is that you have great choices to choose from. I will gladly say WDIS is not my strength, but I do like Barber and Housh as a whole and both are pretty consistent.

Okay...

I grabbed up Crayton as advised, thank you!

Should I pull Berrian off the #3 spot and put Crayton in now that Glenn is out?

Thanks for helping a girl out this week!

which of these rbs would you target, if any, for this season ina non-ppr redraft league.

Selvin Young, Mike Bell, Derrick Ward, Arrington, Chris Henry, Jerome Harrison, anyone not on list. Please rank for depth, potential late season action.

Thank you

You should be on staff, you provide some great insight

sammy morris, kenton keith, adrian peterson (chi). also, if it looks like chester will be out, look for mewelde. On denver, I do not see Young getting the action if Henry goes down. Might be Mike Bell. Not a fan of Arrington, Henry, or Harrison and will know more on Ward after tonight's game after seeing how he is used.

Trade help. A team is looking to trade P.Manning for best offer. Can I help him? 12 team redraft. 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1flex, 1TE, 1PK, 1Def.

my team,

Ben R., Rivers, Schaub, Culpep

S.Alexander, T.Bell, F.Taylor, D.Foster, D. Rhodes, Davenport

Chad Johnson, R.Wayne, Boldin, Dim Williams

H.Miller

J.Reed

His team,

P.Manning

M.Barber, T.Jones, McAllister, M.Bell, M.Morris, K.Faulk

T.O., Buress, A.Gonzalez, Glenn, Bennett, Muhammad

Witten

Nedney

Cowboys

I'm thinking Ben and Rivers and Boldin for Manning and Barber but I dont think I would make that trade on his side.

Before I get to my WW questions...THANK you for the advice! I won in both leagues this week.

What's up with Reggie Brown 1-14? McNabb hit him once and he is the #1.

Vincent Jackson the #1 for the Chargers 3-28 ---what?

I started Brown and won thanks to ROMO!

Should I relax, its week one or dump Brown or Jackson for Kevin Curtis who got more looks?

I am also thinking about leaving the whole MCNabb passing game and looking at the Seahawks & Hasselbeck

DJ Hackett is out with a sprain...I can grab Nate Burleson he also returns the ball and i get return yard points.

Help a girl out and tell me what you think! Thanks :)

I have My other receivers are

Reggie Wayne

Crayton

Welker

Calvin Johnson

So I'm 0-1 and scored the 2nd lowest total points in my league and ended up with the #2 waiver spot so I won't be getting Ward...woot. 12 team league that starts 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, RB/WR, TE, K, D with standard scoring (but bonuses added for yardage and .33 PPR)

My team:

Roethlisberger, Ben PIT

Derrick Ward NYG RB

Michael Pittman TB RB

Nate Burleson SEA WR

What should be my order of preference and who should I drop for which players?

I watched the philly game and think that i like curtis over brown, but i would try to drop a different player other than brown if you can. Hold tight to VJax. It was against the Bears. On Burleson, I am leary. Even after the injury to Hackett on Sunday, how many catches did he get? Look to see what he scored last week. If he was non-existent, then I would leave him alone.Of the WRs mentioned, I like Curtis best. He was the deep threat for the Eagles. But, make no mistake, Westbrook is the top receiving target for the Eagles so it is tough to get consistent production. You should be fine short term with Wayne, Welker and Crayton until VJax comes around.
