Warrick Dunn (1 Viewer)

not really sure how to interpret this

Falcons | Griffith to see some action at RBWed, 23 Aug 2006 15:06:58 -0700Charles Odum, of the Associated Press, reports Atlanta Falcons FB Justin Griffith will be the primary starter in one-back sets, according to head coach Jim Mora. "That will be his role," Mora said. "That will take a little bit off Warrick (RB Dunn) and will take a little bit off Jerious (RB Norwood)."

I don't get that at all, all the sudden Griffith is gonna shoulder carries? In one back sets no less??????Homers, please explain.I am entering round 5 of a PPR league and Dunn is still on the board, although I already have 2 RBs, I don't know if I can leave Dunn there.

:lmao: :lmao: at Justin Griffin and some Arena League castoff stealing from Dunn. Give me a break.

Another 1500 total yards and 7-8 scores.

:goodposting: If anyone follows football or has played football on any level, then you would know that when a coach says something in public (media, other coaches, etc.) you can pretty much promise that it won't be 100% accurate.Coach what's your game plan for this Sunday?"We are going to pass, pass, pass and pass until they stop it!"Sunday's game"Wow Bob, all we heard from the coach all week was how much they were going to pass but all they've done so far is run off 8 straight running plays!"

Go would be insane to bypass Dunn simply because you think two lesser tier backs will hurt Dunn's value

I think we'll see Vick ending up with a few more rushing TD's this year too.
I think Vick, Crumpler (etc) will suck up whatever TDs Duckett got - this of course assumes they will score as many TDs, which isn't exactly a given.Interestingly I have Portis and Dunn.
I don't think coaches are crazy about giving goal line carries to an injury-prone quarterback, no matter how fast and shifty he is. I think Crumpler's stock goes up here, but I really don't see Vick getting an appreciable jump.
Last year, Vick had 4 TDs on 7 carries inside the 5, including 4 TDs on 4 carries from the 1 or 2. Dunn had 1 TD on 7 carries inside the 5. (Typing this from memory--see the Crumpler thread from earlier today.)Big difference in success rate.

Clearly. I just think coaches are acutely aware of the risk-reward factor involved in getting that higher success rate.
FYI,The Coaches have Goal Line offensive plays specifically drawn up for Vick to carry the ball and have used those plays with great success. Not sure why you think that this year, they will suddenly scrap those plays?

Then throw in the Vick ad lib factor.

I definitely see an uptick for Vick's rushing TD's this year. Figure 6 as the floor & 10 as the ceiling.

My :2cents:
If you think that will happen then count on his chances of getting another big time injury in the making. I think he's learned his lesson not to run as much or expect to say good bye to nice chunks of the season.
RKMoney,Just as a quick FYI, the only "big time" injury Vick has suffered, either in College or the Pros, is when his O'line protection broke down and he was taken down from behind while he was still drifting behind the line of scrimmage looking to pass.

Vick IS a running QB, The Falcons DO have specific offensive running plays for Vick. Just as every other year that Vick has been in the NFL, we WILL see those plays run.

Might Vick get injured? Sure. That's why nobody could pry Schaub away from the Falcons and that's why McKay has said they will use a 1st round tender on Schaub next year. McKay's own words were that Vick's style of play makes them plan for him missing 2 to 3 games.

So it's not that I "think" it will happen, from going to a few TC's this summer & listening to both Mora & McKay, I "know" it will happen.

RKMoney,

3-1-TB1 (4:17) M.Vick left end for 1 yard, TOUCHDOWN.

Tried to tell you The Falcons had specific Goal Line running plays designed for Vick and would use them.

Of course, since I was at some of the Falcons OTA's & TC's & saw them practice those plays, I knew we'd see Vick vulture TD's from Dunn.

Vick runs the ball. Dunn is their only proven ball carrier... what's the surprise?

they're not going to pound Dunn in to the line on every play near the end zone. that's a bit predictable.

Guy has over 260 yards rushing in two games. Not sure you're going to see too many complaints.
