Sean Taylor in particular is simply the best free safety in the history of the NFL, bar none, in my opinion.
I'm one of the biggest Sean Taylor fans here and I consider your statement to be a bit much.As for the rest of your post, assuming health, I certainly think they have the potential to be playing better football in December than anyone else in the NFC. Right now, though, they aren't there.
And I'm a homer.

I'll agree that Taylor has athletic gifts that no other FS in NFL history has had, but he needs to prove more over time to be called the best ever. I will say that I'm more optimistic about him developing into that this year than I was last year.
As far as a comparison with Dallas goes, most of the respected Cowboys homers around her (Bankerguy, Big Tex, to name two) agree that the Redskins seem to have matched up well against the Cowboys over the last couple of years, but that only gets you a chance. The Cowboys offense is about the best thing going in the NFL outside of NE or Indy. The Redskins need to keep growing, stay healthy and beat some good teams (Green Bay this week would be a good start) to start placing them at the top of the conference. They're not there yet.
For me, the Redskins are the top challenger to Dallas. There are a couple of interesting match ups and things to look at when comparing the teams.1)The Cowboys D versus the Skins WR's:
-Cowboys pass rush looks improved (Ellis is getting healthy and rookie OLB Spencer is the real deal).
-Cowboys still can't tackle in the open field especially in the nickel (Bobby first round bust Carpenter sucks).
-Has the addition of Hamlin helped agaisnt the deep ball that the Skins have beaten the Cowboys with in the past.
-Cowboys D seems to struggle agains the WR screen (Bills had some success with it last night)
2)Improved Skins D against the Cowboys Offense:
-Was last night a fluke, or have co-ordinators found something on Romo
-Can Wash go 4 Q's against the biggest O-line in Football
-Can JJ or MB3 get untracked.
-Can TO catch the ball....lol..sorry had to throw that in there as much as I love the guy.
-Wash blitzes will give the O-line fits
These are the things that are on my mind. My prediction as of now........The season series gets split.
The fact that the final game is in Wash hurts them as opposed to earlier in the season. IMO the Cowboys will have the NFC wrapped up by then at 13-3. Can't wait for the first game in Dallas, going to be a physical and nasty game.
